Day 6 | LOVE IS THE BANE OF HONOR, THE DEATH OF DUTY
“We are only human, and the gods have fashioned us for love. That is our great glory, and our great tragedy.”

Unpopular opinion: i agree with the fans on tiktok saying that we should not accept incestuous relationships as romantic just because the story itself support that they are love stories, as the author himself says.
We should also support the idea that if we can't tolerate incest or age gap and the canonical romanticization of it inside this book serie we shouldn't be on this fandom at all. Daenerys and Jon are the main characters and one is born because a couple of incestuos sibilings went against the whole world to be together and imposed incest on Daenerys's parents and the other is born from THE biggest love story in the book among a 14 year old and an over 20 years old father of 2 kids prince.
That is not the kind of story you should or would read about if you are against age gap or incest. IT IS JUST HOW IT IS. Even the next main couple, Jonerys/Snowstorm, will infact be incestuos and if GRRM decide to stay faithfull to Jonrya we will have age gap and incest IN.THE.SAME.COUPLE. Deal with it. You can dislike it as much as you want, your prerogative, but you cant reject canon without reject the books themselves and you cant blame other fans to call romantic a couple/scene that is meant to be romantic just because you dislike it.
I feel like people on here don't talk enough about the utter and absolute stupidity of Brandon Stark riding to KL and shouting for the crown prince's head in front of a pyromaniac king who everyone knows has been rapidly descending into madness.

so glad you did this because I loved your tags and was gonna screenshot them to do the exact same thing lol
Why do you think grrm is "pro Rhaegar"?
I mean, because he's serving cunt in life and in death lol
Jokes aside, he's a central figure in the books. Many characters are still obsessing over him 20 years after his death, he was so beautiful that Cersei (!) gave a fleet to a guy just because he almost looked like him.
Two viewpoint characters are in love with him (Cersei and JonCon). Other three idolized/respected him (Dany, Jaime and Barristan)
Ned, another viewpoint character, compared Robert and Rhaegar and ROBERT come out lacking (against the guy who "kidnapped and raped" his sister, basically)
Jaime calls him "King" and says Robert was no true King.
Wyman Manderly says Rhaegar Frey is a smirking worm “with a dragon’s name" (he was offended lol)
Daenerys is compared multiple times to him in a positive way
And look at what happened to the rebellion's leaders. Robert was butchered by a pig, Tywin was Killed by his own son while shitting, Jon Arryn was poisoned by his wife…..and the guy who died as a warrior (and with a tragic poetic death) was Rhaegar lol
"Rubies flew like drops of blood from the chest of a dying prince, and he sank to his knees in the water and with his last breath murmured a woman's name.”
Annnd……he wasn't a rapist. Lyanna and Rhaegar's relationship was consensual, as i've said here
Do you think that Lyanna and Rhaegar were seriously in love? Yes. It’s literally so plain to see, you have to dig your nails deep in denial
He wasn't perfect or a hero, no. Nobody is perfect in this series. "The human heart in conflict with itself" and "Love is death of duty" very much defines Rhaegar. The struggle between his marriage to Elia and love for Lyanna, his conflict with his father, the prophecy and the threat of the Others. He couldn’t anticipated that the Lannisters would betray his father, or that his wife and children would both be killed.
He made mistakes like....99% of asoiaf characters. He's a conflicted character with flaws and virtues.
He wasn't the "spawn of Satan" like many people want to believe. GRRM will never acknowledge the nonsensical fandom headcanons and he's not gonna change his books.
So yeah, he’s 100% pro-Rhaegar and the fandom will get a rude awakening with the next books
And really that's my issue in the last bit.
Like, Jaime can push a kid into death (that turns to disability), Sandor can split a boy to pieces and Ned fucking Stark can condone child murder once etc etc, but they're given the benefit of doubt as to their overall morality because IT'S COMPLICATED (in spite of their complicated choices turning to shit out of their control) but this twink full of duties and no joy, born in grief ans raised in an abusive family and canonically clued to care for lots of people including his kids and arranged wife and Lyanna and whatnot is the devil incarnate....because some choices tuned to shit out of his control like for a bazillion other complex characters.
Rhaella’s children -no robert’s rebellion au

DAY 1 book canon - knight of the laughing tree
me whenever i read fanfics where author writes rhaegar ‘locking up’ lyanna in the tower of joy and she soon belates her eloping with him and their marriage and have other characters shame her and say this all happened because lyanna didn’t do her duty:
so you agree? you think a best choice for a woman in a medieval patriarchal society is to do what they are told and marry an abuser because the men in their lives know better?
So you agree? You think a grown man hurting TWO women by grooming a child into running away to a tower where he would leave her to give birth with no medical aid and disgracing his wife is somehow more empowering?
PS Don’t post in anti tags 👍

And I ask again: What evidence is there that tells us that Rhaegar manipulated Lyanna and left her in a tower without medical attention? People are really out there treating their headcanons like canon, huh?
