it appears she finally notices just how quick she’s speaking, and flustered, bows her head in apology. “i - sorry, am i talking too fast? let’s start over.” exhaling, she sent another bright smile the other’s way, giving a small wave before speaking. “my name’s bo, nice to meet you! yugji building, yonsa u student. you are…?” she asks, eyebrow raising in genuine curiosity. 

when ara arrived at the front steps of yujaen, it didn't looked like that she was about to move in at all. with just a small backpack and a worn vintage suitcase in tow, it seemed that she was just checking in for a few days. hopefully, her decision would stick by and she can finally call it home, not just some temporary dwelling to stay at before taking the next bus out of town. she was a runaway, but for pete's sake, she was tired of running. almost a year has passed by and while her brain was telling her to take a step back and leave, her heart was stirring with anticipation. this is going to be her next adventure, she told herself. however, when she finally signed a lease at the sharehouse, ara, a self-proclaimed vagabond, couldn't seem to leave the vicinity. it was as if she had become a creature from a distant folklore where she'd get burned from the sunlight and shy away from the crowds. her flightiness have left her with an unpacked suitcase and a barren side of the room. was she second guessing her decision? probably.

ara lurking by the entrance at the main building was an improvement. baby steps, she'd tell herself from time to time. she have met some of the residents here and there and have left her in a good vibe, a contrast to the stormy mind she had a few days back. for a moment there was peace as the hour slowly prepares her for another lazy afternoon. however, a spectacle in a form of a lively tall girl disrupted her supposed to be another monotonous day. "h-hello there," she greeted the other, completely surprised and in awe at the energy the person before her never seemed to run out of. "yeah, i just moved in at the molae building. my name's ara," she provided an affirmation at one of her queries, attempting to keep up with the fast-paced inquisitiveness the young woman seemed to have.

"ah, no. not anymore. i already graduated," she dismissed her assumptions with a frantic wave following a sheepish chuckle, flustered at the compliment suddenly thrown at her. when the other seemed to have came down from her high, ara couldn't help finding the rather chirpy fellow resident of hers endearing. this was probably the best welcome she have ever received. "sure, let's start again," she agreed, releasing small fits of laughter in between. "i'm ara, molae building, and.. seeking for jobs at the moment," she nodded with a sunny smile tugging the corners of her lips. "it's a pleasure to meet you as well! are you a part of a welcoming committee or something? because you certainly fit the bill," she stated, wondering if there is one. perhaps she'll try to join there if things would go well with her in yongsa.

truthfully, minah hadn’t actually planned on where she was taking the girl - however since a recent addition to subscribers had hit her twitch account the thought on dragging her little “assistant”, if you will, out of the house was appeasing. the question hits her ears and she stops in her tracks, “hm,” she pouts before shrugging her shoulders, her bag swinging by her side, “i was thinking shopping? and then lunch. all on me, of course.” 

she turns back on her heels, her feet tapping against the pavement and her bag swinging by her side. “or we could eat first and then buy a few goodies from a new store i saw the other day?”

it was quite odd for ara to see the both of them actually outside of the makeshift studio of the other. for the last few days, they have been spending some of her remaining free time inside the sharehouse, assisting minah with her work behind the scenes. it was a bit tiring, considering that she already has a seven-hour shift five times a day down at the little antique's, but it was, in a sense, rewarding for her since it helps her bank account to avoid reaching the negatives and also putting what she learned from the university to good use.

"shopping sounds fun!" she excitedly agreed with the plans laid out for her. "i'm still good from the sandwich i had earlier, but if you want to grab lunch before we invade the store you're talking about, then we can eat first," she told minah, finding it hard to erase the persona ara seemed to have acquired for the other albeit they are in their day-off. "i hope you didn't stayed up last night again, though," she cast a brief inquisitive glance at her company.

a small bit of amusement spilled past jonas’ lips in a fit of laughter when the girl confirmed the name of the location. yes, that’s it! he found himself a little glad that he was able to connect what she’d been saying so quickly. he supposed that being born in the area had its perks, after all.

after she had both accepted his offer and introduced herself, a small bit of relief washed over jonas. he was worried that the offer to help might’ve sounded weird, especially coming from a stranger; even when he was just a local looking to help someone out in finding their way around the town. shook her hand a moment after she offered it. “ nice to meet you ara, i’m jonas, ” he released her hand a moment after, and pointed again toward the direction of the wishing forest as if to signal that was the way the two should be headed. “ it’s no problem, really. like i said i’m already headed that way. if you don’t mind me asking, though, are you on vacation? ”

she clasped her hands behind her as ara matched her pace with the other, humming quietly with content. delight painted her face. there was extreme gratefulness emanating from her side. sure, it was quite unwise of her to trust a stranger right off the bat, but this was the first act of kindness she received ever since she stepped on the land of yongsa. perhaps it is alright to stop being wary for once in her life.

"i used to be," she answered his inquiry, intending to be as cryptic as possible and masked it with an endearing smile. she preferred the term travel than running away. "but i recently decided to live here! maybe it's on a whim, but yongsa has this.. something," she nodded thoughtfully. there was indeed a magnetic charm that effortlessly pulled a fleeting spirit like ara. "how about you? i'm assuming you're a resident here for a long time now since you seemed to know a lot of secret paths in this place."

      daphné wouldn’t necessarily claim that whirlwind adventures were her thing– not to the extent that they were for ara, at least– but she was definitely spontanée to a certain degree. and when she felt the sudden urge to escape the sharehouse for a bit, it wasn’t uncommon for her to turn to her roommate. “the night market,” she answers easily, pausing in order to wait for the older girl to catch up. daphné DID have a bit more height on her friend, which caused her strides to be considerably longer at times, that was undeniable. “i heard they were opening up a few new stalls tonight.”  

      —not to mention, she was suddenly CRAVING a bit of junky, street food. 

      she tucks a single dark strand of hair back behind her ear, reaching out a hand towards ara shortly thereafter and wiggling her fingers delicately for her to take. nothing like walking together to speed things up, after all!. “allons-y, mon petite roommate,” she calls, a gentle lilt to her tone as she offers up a charming, glittering grin. 

she wouldn't outright admit it, but ara was certainly under a disquieting moment prior on signing a lease at yujaen. the thought of living with another person, let alone share a room together, has left her reeling with a clump of excitement and fear. however, the memories of her big decision has become nothing but a blur now. another anecdote added on one of her many charades.

it may not be a match-made in heaven, but having the both of them to easily adjust on each other’s wavelength meant that the spectacle was one of fate’s blessings.

"new stalls?" she excitedly looked around the area once again and attempted to spot any shop that was foreign to her, but only this time ara ardently took daphné's inviting hand. this tactic might be probably the best for the both of them as they shop without losing each other from the rapidly increasing crowd. "i just got my paycheck yesterday and they can totally take all of my money if they can defeat my favorite fish cake stall," she told the younger with a merry grin. "so, my dear roommate, where shall we begin our adventure to sate our appetite?"

          one day in and yujaen had proved itself a breath of fresh air, cleaner than any couch he’d stayed on the past month, and more comforting than even his childhood home. something about the energy made him feel… more refreshed, than usual which was a hard thing for insu to achieve. he’d received several warm hellos and it was more than enough to satisfy his sense of community though, sitting out on the patio as the sun hung low, he felt he could be doing more. it was like the feeling wasn’t always hanging in his head, not quite the desire to be a social butterfly, but wanting to connect with someone in the most basic way, was always on his mind. thankfully, being somewhere new often made him a spectacle, made people curious, and that’s exactly what he wanted.

        he’d nearly given up on enjoy the evening tucking his phone into his pocket and rolling his weight to his heels as he spotted someone joining him. “oh– hello,” he started, voice softer than usual, almost coming off as sheepish. “it’s really nice out tonight, right?” small talk? he needed to start somewhere. after all, remembering all the faces in a single day was slightly overwhelming, even for someone who made an effort to keep everyone in mind. “i think we’re in for a great sunset,” he said, barely over a sigh, leaning back into his seat and looking out over the horizon. “i’m insu, by the way– i probably should’ve introduced myself first, my mind’s a little scattered, sorry.” his laugh was airy, slightly awkward in the way that he genuinely felt bad, but he didn’t miss a beat, “you are?”

her sore body seeks for a good night's rest, but her thunderous mind whines at her to escape the room for awhile. thus, the former caged bird began to fly away, but shortly decided not to get too far from her newfound nest. when she spotted the departing sun from the window, ara rushed out to say a grateful farewell and possibly greet the following celestial being that was about to grace the sky. she never got around to watch the sun set from the patio, despite that her fellow residents have been gushing about it. she has been too preoccupied lately to appreciate the little things.

considering that she exchanged a few hi's and hello's and how have you been's with the other residents that she passed by, it was quite a miracle that she managed to arrive at the patio on time. she stretched her arms up to the sky. the various hues of orange and the gentleness of the dim setting left her at ease. her moment of appreciating one of nature's precious gifts was abruptly cut short by another presence. "ah, hi there! you're right. i can't believe i've been missing out on this since i moved here," she greeted him back, turning her complete attention to the person who seems to be.. new. a new face! her curiosity and excitement leapt in unison. she eagerly took a seat on the chair nearest to him, "it's alright," she dismissed his worries with a wave, letting out a tinkling laugh. "i'm ara. you just moved in, right? i'm pretty new myself, but i guess you finally took my brand as the newcomer!"

“my goal is to know every nook and cranny of yongsa! for someone who travels a lot, i got the worst sense of direction and i’d love to grow out of that. and then maybe i’ll write a better travel guide about this place. the latter might take a longer time, though.”
