This is a sideblog dedicated to my trans journey. I work a corporate job where I volunteer for our queer employee network, something near and dear to my heart. In the past years doing so I realized, especially in current times, how important representation and visibility is. It took a long while for me to feel comfortable to be this openly out and proud, but now that I am, I hope to be able to add a perspective and give insight on my life as a trans man. You will find the following content here, consider this an overall fyi which I will expand on if needed:

I know we are all used to hear bad news from the USA or UK when it comes to trans rights but this time Germany wants to play in the same league.

Our idiots at home ministry came up with the fucking idea to start a register for all transgender and nonbinary people which would mean every person working at some public position could always at any given time see your assigned gender at birth, your deadname, your address and who knows what else.

We had been there in the past. Hitler Germany called it the "Travestite Law" back then. Our politicians didn't learn.

We all know this is unacceptable.

Please, if you are German, sign it. If you are not, spread it wide and far.

This had been stopped once a few years ago. It needs to be stopped again.

Will Ferrell says people who are threatened by the trans community do not feel safe or confident in themselves.

“There is hatred out there,” Ferrell told The Independent. “It’s very real and it’s very unsafe for trans people in certain situations. … But I don’t know why trans people are meant to be threatening to me as a cis male. I don’t know why Harper is threatening to me.” 

“It’s so strange to me, because Harper is finally… her,” he added. “She’s finally who she was always meant to be. Whether or not you can ultimately wrap your head around that, why would you care if somebody’s happy? Why is that threatening to you? If the trans community is a threat to you, I think it stems from not being confident or safe with yourself.”

All jokes aside, lads, Will Ferrell HAS figured it out. If you haven't seen the documentary he made with Harper Steele, I do recommend it. One of his closest friends, Harper Steele, came out as trans into their 30 year friendship. They took a road trip together, no questions barred between them, so that he could 1) try to understand something (transgender identities) that he hadn't given a lot of thought before, 2) get to know his friend Harper all over again-- who she really was, what she had held back, etc.

Accept and love people for who they are. Doesn't matter what clothes they wear, what pronouns they use. If you really love someone, you will want them to be happy. This is seriously, literally all you have to do. This is it.

It really is this fucking easy, cis het people. We're not a threat to anyone except maybe your own insecurities-- which has nothing to do with us.

Did some reflecting on myself and how I present, and realized I have been suppressing parts of myself for the sake of fitting in better.

So since I'm on vacation, I decided to consciously start wearing what makes me feel good again and not worry too much about how I'm perceived.

Glad to say I really enjoy this look! And heavily accessoirizing in general.

genuinely makes me sad how many young gay trans men settle for cishet men who blatantly misgender them and see them as women because they assume that no cis gay man would be interested in a trans man

okay listen, t4t dating is great but i think leaving a "just date t4t :)" tag on this post about trans men being abused is...kinda tonedeaf tbh

i am absolutely not saying DON'T date a trans person, but i dislike the implied idea that trans people are inherently undesirable to cis people.

and this isn't directed towards any specific person. i have had several people reblog with tags along those lines and I've kept quiet about it but it's just been kinda wearing on me. it just seems dismissive and entirely unhelpful.

if you are a trans man and have found your online or irl social group of other trans men insisting that trans men aren't "really" men, please recognize the internalized transphobia and either attempt to push back if that feels safe or get out of there. I feel like every day on here I see men telling other men that they are not and can never be men.
