Oh god, Twitter is having the shoplifting discourse
people don't want to be called out for their bad behavior so they keep trying to justify it
like even if you don't care about the employees you'll be affecting more than the big company (people try to hand wave it with "they've got insurance" & "I was an employee at Place and never cared"), it's a bad idea for yourself. Certain places are going to notice but not charge you. . . until they can hit you hard with a much worse charge.
Sorry I don't believe you're really in a bad position where stealing is more understandable when you're swiping makeup and art supplies. What a first world problem
Something something -- Twitter is just Tumblr on a two-year delay -- something.
It's also pretty damning to see all these higher-profile artists talk about 'lol, I only made it through college because I stole art supplies from this store. Cry some more'
Bitch, I'm more than certain most of you guys are American citizens with American or nationalized parents. Apply for some damn Financial Aid.
Meanwhile, I'm the daughter of someone who has never been able to get so much as a green card due to the American Immigration System being dogshit so I wasn't able to apply for Financial Aid to go to college until my early 20s and yet I never had the thought of 'Hm, I should steal luxury products I don't need in order to survive'.
