like even if you don't care about the employees you'll be affecting more than the big company (people try to hand wave it with "they've got insurance" & "I was an employee at Place and never cared"), it's a bad idea for yourself. He pointed a gun at a woman, pulled the trigger, and she died. He’s not getting a single charge. He had live ammo in his gun belt and his finger was on the trigger (in contrast with his initial statements).

He was at the very least negligent or reckless (no script calls for the gun to be pointed at the director of photography)

He gets no charges, while Trump faces multiple felony charges for accounting errors - which are only felonies if they were done to conceal other crimes, and the prosecution won’t name what crimes they think he was trying to conceal

And Trump supporters sit in solitary confinement for months because they walked between the velvet ropes in the Capitol.

Mobs run wild in major cities while everyone focuses on a man in his 80s who used his firearm to defend himself against a stranger trying to gain entry to his home after dark.

This isn’t a double standard. It’s intentional selective prosecution wielded by those in power against their political enemies, whether those enemies are other politicians or every day people.

Concept: a D&D-style fantasy setting where humanity’s weird thing is that we’re the only sapient species that reproduces organically.

Dwarves carve each other out of rock. In theory this can be managed alone, but in practice, few dwarves have mastered all of the necessary skills. Most commonly, it’s a collaborative effort by three to eight individuals. The new dwarf’s body is covered with runes that are in part a recounting of the crafters’ respective lineages, and in part an elaboration of the rights and duties of a member of dwarven society; each dwarf is thus a living legal argument establishing their own existence.

Elves aren’t made, but educated. An elf who wishes to produce offspring selects an ordinary animal and begins teaching it, starting with house-breaking, and progressing through years of increasingly sophisticated lessons. By gradual degrees the animal in question develops reasoning, speech, tool use, and finally the ability to assume a humanoid form at will. Most elves are derived from terrestrial mammals, but there’s at least one community that favours octopuses and squid as its root stock.

Goblins were created by alchemy as servants for an evil wizard, but immediately stole their own formula and rebelled. New goblins are brewed in big brass cauldrons full of exotic reagents; each village keeps a single cauldron in a central location, and emerging goblings are raised by the whole community, with no concept of parentage or lineage. Sometimes they like to add stuff to the goblin soup just to see what happens – there are a lot of weird goblins.

Halflings reproduce via tall tales. Making up fanciful stories about the adventures of fictitious cousins is halfling culture’s main amusement; if a given individual’s story is passed around and elaborated upon by enough people, a halfling answering to that individual’s description just shows up one day. They won’t necessarily possess any truly outlandish abilities that have been attributed to them – mostly you get the sort of person of whom the stories could be plausible exaggerations.

To address the obvious question, yes, this means that dwarves have no cultural notion of childhood, at least not one that humans would recognise as such. Elves and goblins do, though it’s kind of a weird childhood in the case of elves, while with halflings it’s a toss-up; mostly they instantiate as the equivalent of a human 12–14-year-old, and are promptly adopted by a loose affiliation of self-appointed aunts and uncles, though there are outliers in either direction.

the best thing about this is that in addition to being mildly appalled by the human practice of fucking, also:

-dwarves are weirded out by humans carving stone statues of gods and especially by caryatids

-elves generally assume that humans are either dogs or cats, and that all problems in dealing with humans arise when you make the wrong assumption on if they were made from a dog or a cat

-halflings assume that human tall tales take a long time then go into effect retroactively, because everyone has a story about their grand- and great-grandparents and especially their uncles, but very few have anything particularly functional to say about cousins and nephews.

-goblins assume the big pot of stew that human innkeepers keep perpetually boiling over the inn’s fire is the human soup and that human inns are basically just human daycare, hence all the rooms for the new humans to sleep in and all the mysterious travelers to give new humans their first quest.

There is something to be said about the modern corporation inheriting or obtaining storied brands (ie licenses to print money) and being completely incapable of maintaining them. Star Wars, Magic the Gathering, Bud Light, etc. They are too ass deep in focus groups to see what should be blatantly obvious: kiss the ass of your core fans first and foremost.

The source for this claim is literally the Deluth Website calling it's self successful?

I look up what sources are on the site and what I find are sources that are self referential, and the sources for those sources are also self referential or years if not decades out of date. Much of it also sourcing material severely out of date or directly biased in it's methodology.

It's self defense article is self contradictory, at one time denying it's motives and research are biased and then admitting to focusing with a bias on gender.

Like, the supreme court issue with Roe V Wade is a thing, and it really speaks to the long festering and never resolved divide in the US about Abortion. And at this point it's been legal for so long that it's legitimately taking away a civil right, (even tho I personally am of mixed mind about it. Like, I believe in other people's right to have one but I feel sick at thinking of getting one myself.)

But when it comes to issues about the prevalence of radical feminist thought infiltrating society, and why being opposed to it as it becomes more and more the mainstream of feminism, I mean things like this, like the wikipedia article about one of the more problematic feminist campaigns to 'end domestic violence' was written by someone who very distinctly has a bias in favor of said campeign.

I mean that when looking up details on google it becomes harder and harder to find things that don't have a particular slant, if only because those articles flood the initial search results.

Like, if one person's trying to stab you to death, and the other's feeding your family a slow poison, it's suicide to ignore the second person because of the existence of the first.
