It wasn't hard to tell when Kaveh was lying. At least, not for Alhaitham. The man wasn't a good liar as it was, but trying to lie to someone so observant was a mistake on his part. He'd been well aware of these nightmares for some time now. At first they weren't so frequent, but now... now they seemed nearly constant. Only a day or so would pass between them. At this point, Alhaitham was beginning to grow concerned and that wasn't something that happened very often.
"Kaveh..." He let out a sigh, shaking his head. If he pushed the subject, he risked an argument. However, if he did nothing and left it alone, he risked looking insensitive. Neither option seemed good. So in the end, he simply took a breath, crossing his arms.
"I can make you some tea if you'd like." He offered, gesturing for the blonde to sit. "I figure you're not going to be going back to sleep after that. So you might as well sit and try to relax."
This way they might have a chance to properly address the situation. At least, that was the hope.
"Yeah." Kaveh breathed out, "Yeah.. Tea sounds great, thank you." Moving his damp hair from his face, he let himself fall back on the bed. There wasn't much he could do about the nightmare and he didn't get why it was so hard for him to move past it.
He couldn't help but feel bad for Alhaitham. He felt bad making him feel the need to take care of the architect. Kaveh felt tears slide down his cheeks and he holds his breath, not wanting to let out any sound to alarm his roommate. (Not that he thinks Haitham would care all too much, but it was already bad enough he is getting the blonde some tea.)
"Haitham..." Kaveh starts, looking up at the ceiling. "Don't forget the honey and make sure it isn't too hot!" His arm falls limp across his forehead.
Kaveh knew he didn't need to ask, his roommate knew exactly how he liked his tea.

“Did you hear about the architect who only had aluminum sheets for stationary?” The General gave a moment of pause, watching the blonde closely before finally continuing onto the punchline. “…His plans were foiled.”
There was a silence that followed a Cyno waited for a reaction, feeling a slight anxiety building the longer that silence persisted. “Do you get it…? Because foil is made of aluminum… so the plans were foiled…”
"Yes... aluminum... foiled. I get it." Kaveh hid his smile behind his hand as he let out a few snickers. Typically Cyno's jokes didn't make Kaveh laugh, in fact it had him rethink his choices in being the General Mahamatra's friend.
"That was a good one Cyno, you're one step closer to being the greatest comedian in Sumeru." Kaveh patted Cyno's shoulder before slowly crossing his arms. "You really know how to include your audience into your jokes." He smiled "That was the best architect joke I've heard so far."

Between Kaveh's labored breaths and his clammy skin, he probably wouldn't have even bothered acknowledging Alhaitham's comment. Yet, here he was thinking on what to say carefully as to not have his roommate worry too much.
He was always worrying about something these days. He needed a break.
"Yeah..." He forced a smile, "I'm okay thank you."
Coward. He calls himself silently, only for him and the archons to hear. He couldn't even tell Alhaitham the truth... Maybe this was why they fought so much.
"Just had a dream about Madame Faruzan knocking me out during the Inter-Darshan Championship." A forced laugh. "You have to admit
it was pretty embarrassing."
"...." Lumine crossed her arms and looked at him. Her face already showing slight exasperation. "Where did you get that idea?" she asked. "I was using that as an example of using your intution." Why did Kaveh jump to Alhaitham IMMEDIATELY after she said something?
"You seriously have Alhaitham on the brain, Kaveh," she said, pursing her lips and poking her tongue hard into her cheek for a moment. "Not everything has to revolve around him. You," she told him, uncrossing her arms and pointing a finger at his face, "need to relax. Seriously. I don't know what beef you have with your roommate and landlord, but don't automatically assume that he sent me to you tell you that. It makes an ass out of the both of us if you do that."
That was the expression after all: don't assume anything or else you'll make an ass out of YOU and ME.
Kaveh stood there, unmoving for a good minute as he had to process what Lumine was saying, ONCE AGAIN. He really had to stop bringing Alhaitham up so much or else people will suspect something, of course there wasn't much to hide with Lumine.
He knew that she wouldn't go spreading it around that he was living with Alhaitham. (Even if she did, Kaveh wouldn't mind too much either way.) "Ah... My bad. I apologize..." He said, scratching the back of his neck. "Thank you for... The advice... I guess I got a little too ahead of myself there, huh?" Kaveh laughed, trying to lighten up the mood.
Maybe he needed to talk to Alhaitham about all of this, it can't be good if he is thinking everything is stemming from their arguments.
It wasn't the first time he'd seen Kaveh cry. But this felt different. Immediately his anger morphed into concern and guilt over causing the blonde to think he was angry at him.
"Hey, stop. I'm not mad at you." Alhaitham was quick to push that fact forward, letting out a sigh as he moved his hand to take one of the ones that had begun gripping at his shoulder. He squeezed it lightly, trying to calm Kaveh the best he could.
"Breathe." He kept his hold on that hand, occasionally squeezing it to provide some sort of comfort. He wasn't really the best at this sort of thing, but he was trying and he hoped that was what mattered here. "I understand your hesitance for wanting to talk about it, but you still should have said something. However, I'm still not mad at you. This man is clearly crossing boundaries and that needs to be addressed. He shouldn't be allowed to do this."
He shouldn't be allowed to touch you period. There was an air of possessiveness with that thought that came as a surprise to him. It caused a pit in his stomach to form. He's not yours though. But still... it's something Kaveh doesn't want.
"I won't do anything rash, so don't worry. If you want me to keep out of it, I'll respect that. However, maybe I should tag along to any and all visits with this man from now on..."
Soft sniffles bounced off the walls as Kaveh slowly calmed down. The tear trails drying up and puffy face made the blonde feel gross, yet he couldn't seem to worry about that as Alhaitham reassured him.
It felt good, hearing the things his roommate was saying. It was rare that Haitham openly showed concern in a way Kaveh could understand. It was a breath of fresh air, that the architect needed.
(Especially with how his sobbing had left him breathless)
"I think I would feel better if you came with me... He would have to be an idiot to lay a hand on me in front of the Acting Grand Sage." Kaveh slowly moved closer to rest his head on Alhaitham's chest. Needing something to rest on as he chased off a post-crying headache.
"You do what you see fit anyways, Alhaitham." He forced a laugh. "I am in no power to stop you, especially not at work."

There's a slight smile that forms on his face, pulling at the corner of his mouth a little more than normal. He can't help but feel a bit amused by the statement and it shows in his expression.
"You speak as if you're going to be rid of me that easily." He says, keeping his voice calm but with a hint of teasing. "As if we could ever leave one another." A soft chuckle leaves him. "Regardless of that fact, I don't think there's a way I could ever forget someone as vibrant and memorable as you."
"V- VIBRANT?!" Kaveh looked at Alhaitham in shock. "What does that even mean?!" Taking a deep breath, the architect let his shoulders fall into a relaxed state. "I am not going to argue over this."
Kaveh took Alhaitham's hand in his and furrowed his brows. "And it is possible. Everyone leaves at some point, Haitham." His eyes looked into his roommates, eyes welling up in tears. "You know I can't stay here forever, too. You'll want space from me at some point.
Everyone does."

The conversation had felt... good. At least, for a moment. It seemed as though expressing his feelings was a good choice. Kaveh seemed very moved by the words and for just a split second, it brought a smile to the scribe's face, knowing he'd done well. However, the second the blonde continued on about his client, that smile faded into a deep frown and, soon enough, into shock.
"Wait, hold on a second. What is going on? What do you mean hush money?" He paused, already moving to grip the architect's chin and gently pull his attention back towards him. "Kaveh, has this guy been hurting you?"
Of course, he really didn't need to ask. It was clear from what was said that something unsavory was going on here. Something Kaveh had refused to speak up about until just now. And if Alhaitham was honest, it angered him. Had he known about this sooner...
"Who is he?" The question was stern and direct, clearly reflecting his intentions. "Don't worry about the money. You know I'll take care of you for as long as you need. But I refuse to let someone harass you like this."
As soon as Alhaitham placed his hand on his chin, the water works broke out. The hot tears sliding down his cheeks did not make him feel all to well. He didn't know why he didn't say anything, usually he complained about everything.
"It- It was just lingering touches and pointless flirting, Alhaitham!" His trembling hands made their way to his roommate's shoulders, grasping them like a lifeline.
"I'm sorry for not telling you! Don't be mad, please!" The hysteric's had Kaveh at a loss for words and his breathing had become erratic and short. Rationally, he knew Alhaitham wasn't mad at him, but at his client who disgustingly laid his hands upon the architect.
"His..." He took a deep breath, gripping his roommate's shoulders tighter. "His name is Pirouz... I- He sells things? I don't know... I'm sorry!"
"Sounds like he's full of himself." The comment slipped without a thought, as did the scoff that followed. Clearly these were just the types of clients Kaveh had to deal with. Either those with outrageously high expectations or those unable to afford the work. And, of course, Kaveh was far too kindhearted to really turn them down. It was both a advantage and a flaw. While he was well liked for his kindness, there were also others who knew just how to exploit it.
The scribe took a breath, glancing away for just a moment as he attempted to think of what to say to this situation. He knew the architect wasn't likely to just drop a client based on their attitude. He also know interceding would only make things worse, even if he really wanted to say something to the fool that had the blonde so stressed out. He knew if he did, he ran the risk of upsetting Kaveh further and he didn't want that.
"You need to set boundaries. I know it's hard for you, but you keep letting others take advantage of you." A sigh fell from his lips as he sat up now, his expression actually mirroring his concern. "I only say the things I do because I do actually care about you. Even if you think I don't. I don't like that others take advantage of your kind heart and willingness to make people happy. You're worth more than that. You don't deserve to have people walking all over you."
Silence settled in for a moment, a faint blush painting the scribe's otherwise pale complexion. Clearly he wasn't used to expressing himself so openly. But he needed to say these things, otherwise he may never get a chance to say them at all. "I guess what I'm trying to say is that you need to stand up for yourself more. Not just against me but against clients taking advantage of you."
"You really mean it?" His voice soft, barely reaching a whisper, a rare volume for the architect. It was odd hearing Alhaitham explain his true thoughts and feelings about Kaveh's kindness out loud. Although, Kaveh wouldn't admit that he wouldn't mind hearing it all the time.
"I appreciate that..." The blonde moved a bit, debating on moving closer to his roommate. "But you do understand that I can't just... drop the project. He paid me in advance." He sighed, furrowing his brows. "Typically I don't accept money until after the commission is done, but he just gave it to me... No problem."
His fists balled on his pants, clutching fabric in a deathly grip. "I mean, maybe it was to keep me on the project..." The blonde's eyes clenched shut as he shook in anger, "Maybe it was hush money for the fact I told him not to touch me or flirt with me..."
Throwing his hands down on the divan, Kaveh let out a loud "Archons!" out of frustration.
"How can I be so stupid?" He whimpered, "I really need the money, Alhaitham, you don't understand..."

"Of course not, Kaveh." Lumine told him, sighing. "I'm saying to trust your instincts. If something or someone seems shady to you, don't trust them and prepare for anything." Basically expect the unexpected. At this point, Lumine had traveled from Mondstadt all the way to Sumeru. It had taken three years and a lot of treasure hunting and helping friends along the way, but she'd done it.
But at this point she was slowly learning that the only things that she weren't expecting were things from the Abyss Order. From her twin brother: The Abyss Prince. Aether.
"Like for instance, the Sages that got sacked. I knew they were up to something bad. And they were probably in league with the Fatui somehow. What I wasn't expecting though was to fight a... mechnical God made by the Second Harbinger for the Sages to replace Lesser Lord Kusanali."
She had to keep the truth of the Wanderer's involvement a secret as he was now no longer the Balladeer, having erased his past selves: Scaramouche and the Kabukimono from existence. Only she, Paimon, Nahida and the Wanderer knew the truth.
A huff left Kaveh's lips as he narrowed his eyes in suspicion. "So... You're saying if I have a bad feeling about anything, trust it?" he furrowed his brows. "I think that's just hesitation." Still, he sighed and turned his head away.
"Why tell me this anyways?" he paused, almost as if a light bulb when off in his head. "Did Alhaitham tell you to tell me this?" he shook his head with a sigh
"I told him he doesn't have to go to such lengths to make sure I don't get taken advantage of!" With a loud sigh, the architect glared down at the floor.
"Listen, I appreciate the concern but, tell Alhaitham to stop bothering you guys.
I mean seriously, you shouldn't be in the middle of our arguments."

He wasn't sure when he'd started feeling faint like this. It seemed just to hit him so suddenly. One moment he'd felt fine, the next his body seemed to slow down and his mind began to feel hazy. As his thoughts drifted away from him, he felt a violent surge of panic begin to set in.
What was the last thing he'd eaten? Drank? Had he... been drugged? Surely that had to be the case here. His health was fine, other than some mild stress. He hadn't taken anything on his own, obviously. He wasn't foolish enough to destroy his own mind with anything recreational or otherwise. Not intentionally anyways. So that only left the option that he was dosed by someone.
"Ka...veh..." He could hear panic in the blonde's voice, prompting him to reach out to try and find him amidst the haze. He blinked a few times, trying to get a clear view of the man before him, but to no avail. He shook his head, his breathing already becoming erratic and unsteady. He needed to get help before this caused him further harm. "Y-You need... to take me... to get help..." Was all he could manage before falling forward against the architect, gasping onto him to keep himself steady.
Kaveh quickly grabbed onto Alhaitham, panic evident on his face. He couldn't believe he was actually going to need to call for help for his stupid roommate. "O- Okay... You better not pass out on me!" He groaned out, getting a better hold on the scribe, hoisting him up to lean more on his body.
"Let's get you to General Mahamatra... He could call Tighnari to get here as soon as possible." Kaveh's voice shook in panic and worry. The architect slowly moved Haitham out of the house, grabbing both of their keys out of the little bowl by the door.
"Lesser Lord Kusanali give me strength..." Shaking his head again, the blonde spoke again;
"No give us strength..."
