TODAYâS GLOBAL THREAT
There are many different kinds of viruses around the world and some of it can cause disease. A newly identified corona virus, SARS-CoV-2, has caused a worldwide pandemic of respiratory illness, called COVID-19. - Lauren M. Sauer, M.S. Â
SITUATION WHEREIN MEDIA AND INFORMATION LITERACY COULD HAVE BEEN USEFUL AND HOWÂ
When a corona virus occurred everything has changed. Everyone across the globe is suffering because of it. It really affects everyoneâs lives. Children, elderly, girl or boy, poor or rich all are potential victims of this deadly virus. Unfortunately, our government is lacking in providing support to those people who are really affected by this pandemic. So, some people make use of todayâs technology by using social media to be able to let the government be aware of the people situation. Specially those whom they called the âpoorest of the poorâ, by using the social media like twitter, or posting a video in facebook or Instagram people around the country specifically our government become aware of what is really happening around us and able to send help and support to our countrymen. With the use of these social media, people are able to show the problems and the hardships that they are going through during this pandemic. We belong to a third world country, therefore, it is a given fact that our government may also have problems in reaching out to everyone. Thanks to todayâs technology that with the use of our cellphones and other gadgets and by the power of social media. We can report anything that is happening around us. We are also able to disseminate information like a bliss. And of course, through social media people can inform the government of the real situation in the country.
ROLES AND FUNCTION OF MEDIA IN DEMOCRATIC SOCIETY
âMedia is the communication outlets or tools used to store and deliver information or data. The term refers to components of the mass media communications industry, such as print media, publishing, the news media, photography, cinema, broadcasting (radio and television), and advertising. Â â- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Media_(communication)
WHAT IS THE MOST RELEVANT FUNCTION OF MEDIA TO YOU (CHANNEL, WATCHDOG, RESOURCE CENTER OR ADVOCATE)?WHY?
Channel, for me is the best among the others. Because channel is where youâre be able to share and express your own thought, opinion and information that you gather. You have the ability and the strength to share your thoughts in every certain situation. Letting others know your opinion helps them to have a better understanding of yourself. You help them how to be open minded because by explaining your side you make them hear your voice and on the other hand you also listen to theirs, so its vice versa kind of communication. Not all people have the guts to express themselves upfront. Some uses different mediums to express their thoughts and opinion. So, with that being said CHANNEL provides a variety of options, which one you are most comfortable in expressing ones thought, opinions, ideas and ways to communicate.
MEDIA AND INFORMATION LITERACY: INTRODUCTION
âMedia and information literacy is linked to access to information, free expression and education. Media and Information Literacy (MIL), defined as the ability to access, analyze, and create media, is a prerequisite for citizens to realize their rights to freedom of information and expression.â - https://www.dw.com/en/media-and-information-literacy/a-18787411
WHAT WASÂ YOUR PERCEPTION OF MEDIA BEFOREÂ THIS LESSON? WHAT IS YOUR VIEW TO MEDIA?
Before, media for me is just for fun, for posting photos and for the others, who really like issues because they always have something to say to someone else post. But now I see the bigger picture. Media is a way in expressing ourselves and sharing our thoughts to others. We are all entitled to our own opinion. We all have the right to express our thoughts and be heard. But of course, we must know our limitation as well. We should all be responsible in all our post. And in everything that we put in media. We should respect others thoughts and ideas as how we want ours to be respected. Disagreeing in someone else idea is fine as long as you explain yourself in the right manner. Media should be used in matter that is beneficiary to all not just to a certain person or situation. Everyone has the right to make use of it. Its important that we know how to respect others. Media is a privilege that we should embrace and enjoy and not to abuse.
