Francesca Woodman was born in Boulder, Colorado, on this day, April 3, 1958. The artist is pictured here in Rome in 1978 installing her work in the group exhibition "Five Young Artists" at Galleria Ugo Ferranti. Fluent in Italian and conversant with Italian art and culture, Woodman lived in the city in 1977 and 1978 while still enrolled at Rhode Island School of Design.
