Highly anticipated ‘Lil Boat 3′ by none other than the boatman himself, Lil Yachty released on the 29th of May this year, 2020.
I put off writing about this for numerous reasons ranging from being too lazy to do it but also because I was motivated to see how the release would pan out amidst the BLM protests raging all over the US and the looming COVID-19 outbreak which is still very much an international threat.
With such events taking over the minds of the public and even the most devote hip hop heads it would seem that Lil Yachty and his record label Quality Control Music chose possibly the worst time to release an album. To me this is simply due to the fact that the album is jam packed with A-class features, amazing bars from Yachty himself, unique beats, and an overall solid mix of sounds and flavors that were and will continue to be largely overlooked. My opinion aside though, this shift in public attention has caused the album to gather significantly less sales than what would normally be expected.
Despite getting less attention on release than it normally would the future of this album still seems very bright with many fans giving it praise. Notable tracks off the album include ‘Pardon Me’ (featuring Future and produced by Mike WiLL Made-It), ‘T.D’ (featuring Tierra Whack, A$AP Rocky, and Tyler, The Creator), and Oprah’s Bank Account (featuring DaBaby, and Drake).
It will be very interesting to see what happens to this album in the future.
