Chuckling, that was normally a good sign. People seemed to do it often in this world, or maybe she was just confusing the action with smiling. Did those odd beings ever make a sound? Alexa had yet to understand how they were created, or even the rules of this universe. If she was capable of having a headache she was sure that now would be an appropriate moment to have one. She smiled. To think, that she had given her creations mechanisms to deal with their frustrations. A part of her missed her reality.
“Oh, no. I don’t work and my days are always good.” Alexa nodded and then narrowed her eyes at the woman. She wasn’t like the creatures with the wide smiles. “Hm…” She hummed as she thought. “It seems that I haven’t grasped enough of this ‘English.’ I’ve only just learned it about a week ago.” She admitted before she turned back to look at Cultists. “Are these creatures related to you somehow?” Alexa pointed and then frowned. “No, it can’t be right. They don’t look like you at all, but going back to what you were saying, I agree. I appreciate the way my voice sounds as well. You sound clear as well.”
“you don’t work, huh? that’s certainly new.” zanna had always had her job, it was something she was good at. however, if she didn’t ask for help for CONTROLLING herself, she was going to do more damage to people around her and that needed to be avoided at all cost. she wasn’t a malicious woman, just a scared one that didn’t want to admit that she had been changed for forever. it was definitely UNNATURAL; her dna had been changed, that shouldn’t have been possible but it was. living her life in the dark about WHAT her father was, zanna couldn’t have seen any of it coming. all she wanted to do was help people so why had she been BRANDED with nothing but destruction. alliances were going to be important and if she chose wrongly, the consequences would be devastating.
looking towards the cloaked figures, she shrugged. “i don’t know what all this is about but it does make me feel slightly uneasy. i just try to keep my head down here.” zanna would have liked it to stay that way but as tensions rose and people began to disappear, it was bound to come back to her in some respect. the woman could make the ground TREMBLE beneath her; she was too powerful for herself and it just felt wrong. she had been a regular mother with marital issues. now, her dna was somewhat ALIEN. “thank you, i try to be. there’s no need to rush yourself.”
Humans were nothing, but predictable. Sure she had been one for 31 years and 31 years only, but even then…Well she can’t remember much, but her humanity was surely a weakness. Feeling all eyes on them, Amara stopped eating and pushed away her meal as if she lost her appetite. Reaching into her purse, she took a $100 bill out, which was more than enough to cover both their cheques and tip, before handing it over to the server in front of them. “We’re done here.” she said out loud.
“Now,” she returned her attention back to the woman as she stood up and tall next to her. “You know what I’m implying and you’re not fine cause if you claim such things, you wouldn’t be reacting as if I caught you red handed.” She spoke in a tone that it was enough for the both of them to hear. “You can’t hide forever…Besides, how would the people feel about their own doctor not being able to control themselves and yet they continue to do their practice? One moment you’re saving people, the next you’re going to end up killing them. The irony of it all is truly fascinating.”
Shrugging, Amara took her purse and began heading for the exit, “You’d be foolish if you keep this up.”
why was the woman being so persistent with her? it seemed that she couldn’t go anywhere without encountering people with ulterior motives; safety felt out of the question at this point. the woman was flighty down to experience. ever since the trauma that was her ordeal with her daughter, bad experiences seemed to follow and she was always the common denominator. people told her not to fight it but she had been doing just that for years and DESTRUCTING everything. staring as the other put down far too much money to cover the costs, zanna backed away. it was common knowledge to be very wary of those who flung cash around like that. eyes shifting towards the door, the doctor looked back at the other before shaking her head.
as the other kept prodding her, zanna could feel herself beginning to lose control. she needed to get out of the building, away from the many objects that she would affect. the words were harsh but they were true. “please can you keep your voice down?” it wasn’t like the other was shouting, she was just extremely nervous that people would take action against her and it wouldn’t end well. “i don’t want to kill anyone.” teeth gritted as she pressed her nails into her palms, zanna shook her head and closed her eyes. she could feel IT inside her, something that she just couldn’t silence and soon took to her surroundings.
heading towards the exit, tears filled her eyes. they were more out of frustration than of upset, frustration and FEAR what would follow. removing herself from the situation decreased the risk of anything happening. the cups on everyone’s tables were shaking slightly as zanna exit. “i don’t want anything to do with whatever you’re selling. i’m not interested.”
The woman wreaked of discomfort and Amara did her best not to laugh, for she didn’t want her to leave the premise out of embarrassment and fear. She had to prolong this unfortunate interaction since the woman had no idea who she was dealing with. “But anything could happen.” countered Amara while she finished up her toast. Picking up her napkin, she dabbed the sides of her lips, wiping away any crumbs and residue, before picking up her coffee and taking a long sip. The silence was surely deafening, but the vibrations from the other woman’s cup said otherwise.
Propping her elbow onto the countertop, it made a loud bang as she played it off naturally while she rested her face against her hand. “Doc, you seem a little shaky.” she pointed out at first. “But I’m assuming whatever you’re suppressing is truly groundbreaking.” Leaning towards her, she then spoke to her in a low tone and asked, “Whatcha hiding hmmm? With a woman of my stature, I’m sure I could help you out. What do they call it? Girls supporting girls I believe.”
UNCOMFORTABLE didn’t even begin to describe zanna’s mood. the woman hadn’t even begun to try and accept her situation; she hadn’t wanted this like so many other people did. it felt like she would have been better dealing with her failing marriage than go through something like this so LATE in her life. young people were generally more adaptable to change but nothing could prepare someone for a dna change. there were dangerous people that were TOO interested in her and that was her main concern at this time.
they had been the ones who had made her go through the process, there was no choice for her. it was either the risk of her dying from it or her daughter; there was never a decision to be made. however, the group that took her daughter had fooled zanna that she had a choice as she was the one that they were interested in all along- the young girl’s curiosity could only go so far. to this day, the doctor still didn’t know who was responsible for this...
word by word, the woman felt like the other was trying to pick through her layers to try and find the NEW her and it was nothing to be proud of or to support. it wasn’t something to trivialise at it was her life and she had to live each day worrying that she could cause a major accident. the blatant digs were enough to force zanna out of her seat. the woman KNEW, she didn’t know HOW but she knew and that was enough for her to take her down. “i don’t know what you’re implying, i said i’m fine.” a few eyes wandered towards her as she began to make a scene. no, that wasn’t what she wanted but emotions were running extremely high and nothing good ever came out of that.
Now this was very confusing. What would cause someone to smile so much at God? Was the hooded figure impressed by this vessel? Could they be entertained by the way God held themselves? Alexa tried not to laugh at the Cylverant Circle Cultists. “Who is your maker?” She asked. “I don’t understand what’s so funny. What makes you smile so widely?” She tried to replicate their grins, but she was physically incapable.
Whatever this alternate reality was, she found that she was nearly powerless and that they had very odd customs. Pronouns were difficult, for example. She walked towards them, curiously. And things were strangely silent. Was that normal for this reality? “My creations tire after a while. Are you similar?” Alexa tilted her head, eyeing the hooded figures.
it wasn’t often that zanna found herself chuckling at someone but she couldn’t work out the other woman. she hoped that it didn’t come across malicious, that’s the last thing it was. her reaction came from hearing the other’s words and how DIFFERENT she sounded. in all honesty, the doctor thought it was mildly refreshing and did loosen up a little. although she still had things to worry about, the other’s ODD behaviour gave her something that became distraction. watching the scene unfold in front of her, zanna finally found herself stepping up.
“i’m sorry but i’m really lost. have you had a bad day at work or something?” those were happening with her more and more, mostly because she was distracted as she had to concentrate on hiding WHAT she was. an INHUMAN, she was no longer human and it HURT her to feel that way. whilst humans were dangerous, they were nowhere near as powerful. “i’m not mocking you, i promise. you just have a very particular way of speaking and i’m not used to it. i like it though.”
“okay, look.” ryan took a deep, calming breath. “a lot’s going on in town. shit’s hit the fan. i get it. but i’m really stressed and just want to get away for a bit. do you want to go on an adventure with me?” she pushed forward her lips into a pout and made her eyes as wide as possible to try to convince the person to join her.
“that’s EXACTLY what i’m worried about.” zanna nodded towards the other. if she stepped out of life, that would be the end for her; she never saw a positive option when it came to her being THIS. the last thing she wanted was to be back in a laboratory, or worse... “i think i’m just going to stay put. i’m old, i have my job, i’m tired. you’re better off asking someone else.” it was like she was trying to SELL herself to the younger blonde; the narrative was that she was a regular, middle-aged woman thhat had a job, nothing more, nothing less.
With all the trouble in Ceres, Karina knew that she shouldn’t have been staring so intently at Zanna, but she was curious to see, in person, if she truly was what the spirits suspected her to be. Aside from her versatile sixth sense, she didn’t have much in passive abilities, but she could tell what nervousness looked like and when someone was trying to hide something. Karina moved passed a man and then purposefully ran into the table, moving it with her hip and hand. “Oh god, I’m so clumsy.” She sat down whilst letting out a light laugh. “I didn’t know that you were sitting over here… I’ve just been so distracted.” Karina took a seat in front of the woman. “If that’s any indication of how my day’s been going then…” She sighed and shrugged before settling into a smile. “But how are you doing?”
the intense eyes that locked on her made her feel UNCOMFORTABLE, that was the truth. zanna had always been slightly paranoid and defensive but this seemed to be a new level. looking away and into the cup, the woman took a deep breath. she had to keep calm in order to survive but it was easier said than done. being someone slightly older who had transformed was difficult; she wasn’t going to welcome this amount of change within herself, she was going to deny it. her DNA had been ALTERED, she felt different and had never grown to it. instead, zanna had attempted to shut it down and it had gotten her into a lot of trouble. jumping slightly as the other knocked into the table, a nervous laugh was released. “don’t worry about it.” nodding towards the other, zanna was quick to frown. “why do you ask it like that?” no matter what anyone said in this moment, the woman was going to be suspicious. “i’m fine.”
Dean was not a graceful teenager. It wasn’t a surprise that he nearly tripped over himself as he walked through the cafe. He ended up accidentally sliding into the seat in front of the woman. Dean was a nervous person, he couldn’t shake that off but as he looked at the woman in front of him …he knew she was more nervous than he was. “My day was okay …are you okay?” Dean asked with concern, he looked over at the woman. “You seem …nervous.”
he was trying to be polite but the woman didn’t want to be asked; she wanted to AVOID owning up to her own feelings at all costs. zanna was an inhuman, had been for around five years but it only started to take a prominent role recently. she didn’t WANT to be different, this had taken everything from her and turned her into something to be feared. a doctor, she was used to helping people but certainly not hurting them on this scale. returning the coffee up to the table, the woman shook her head and folded her arms. “i’m fine, just a really long day.” nothing would stay calm with her for long; she was a walking NATURAL DISASTER, literally.
Amara didn’t break her facade as continued to eat her meal casually. In fact, she was enjoying Zanna’s attempt at acting as if nothing had happened. Humans and their typical behaviour, ignoring their problems as if they expect it to go away. This notion however, wouldn’t run well with Amara. In fact the vampire would very much prefer if you face your issues head on. After all, she thrived off of others misery as she enjoyed their sufferings.
“Apparently.” replied Amara as she seasoned her toast. “But I blame the City’s naivety. You’d think they’d be prepared for the worse, especially with the kind of population we have.” Taking a bite, the vampire munched quietly as she watched the woman carefully. Her expression says one thing, but her body language said otherwise.
God it was truly a blessing to have heightened senses.
“Have you encountered the freaky bunch? Rumour has it they want the best of the best and by best, I mean powerful mutants and other beings!” A little lie on her part, but where was the fun in telling the truth? “—Hopefully you don’t have any patients missing Doc or worse staff! Imagine that! The hospital would be a shit show no?”
it had always been in zanna’s nature to worry but when it came down to her her daughter, she had failed. her husband had told her that ava’s obsession was getting to a dangerous point and she had brushed it off; he had been right and it had cost her everything. although her daughter didn’t die in there or in the incident that followed several years after, she had lost her for forever. from what she gathered, the girl was now afraid of how much damage her mother could cause given the fact that she had injured her. zanna never meant to hurt anyone yet she had hurt those closest to her. unable to accept help or trust herself with being attached to them, she ran.
with this current climate, the inhuman was more on edge, PARANOID about who was watching her, ready to take her out. she had a hard time trusting people and the woman before her certainly wasn’t making it any easier. shifting uncomfortably in her seat, the woman shook her head. a bad feeling was presenting itself to her and the woman’s jesting manner certainly wasn’t easing her. zanna was AFRAID and people acting in this way made her more wary.
“you shouldn’t even think such things.” shaking her head, she tried to steady her breathing but it seemed that nothing could make her stop shaking the contents of her cup; she WAS going to end up doing some real damage and people were going to get caught up in it. her only option was going to be accepting help from a willing source.
Killing alien cultists left and right was so tiring for Amara. They were definitely a nuisance and for once in her life, the Destroyer of Worlds chose to stand down from her ideology. Instead, she would rather destroy an alien race, after all, it was much more challenging and she can add that to her lengthy resume kill count.
Although vampires didn’t get tired, she was indeed hungry, not for blood of course, but hungry for the indulgence of shitty diner food. A guilty pleasure and a break from her lavish lifestyle. In the midst of munching away, her heightened senses picked up on a mug next to her shaking on its own before being swiped away from the woman next to her. It seems like someone had a lot on their mind.
“I should be asking you that Doc.” replied Amara nonchalantly. Biting her toast, she turned to her and shrugged as she decided to reply to her inquiry. “The usual, making money moves and trying not to get creeped out by those robed idiots. It’s probably what’s got you shaken up huh?”
everything that transpired could have been avoided. it turned out that her mystery father kept a dark secret and this was only part of it. her mother was a caring individual, she didn’t give up on people easily so he must have done something BAD for her to be able to turn her back on him. zanna was worried that she had already turned out like him. she had been responsible for putting her husband and daughter in the hospital; the spark was gone long before any of this between them but her daughter now HATED her, she had a right to. if only she had listened to him when it came to her daughter. she had been the one who was kidnapped to begin with, kidnapped by an organization that she didn’t even know the name of.
that type of thing was starting the happen here and the woman wanted no part of it. there were DANGEROUS beings around and zanna wanted to stay hidden as she tried to denounce her new nature. everything was mapped out for her and now she was different, she wasn’t HUMAN. was this what it felt like to be trapped for eternity? the woman was good at isolating herself but at some point, she was going to need some help.
eyes widening at the other’s words as her jew tensed, zanna sat up straight. the other KNEW, that was her worst fear. eyes starting to well, she shook her head. “it’s hard for everyone, people going missing is very worrying.” it was an attempt to brush off the obvious dig from the other; she needed to act normal to save herself from the aggravation that followed her when her powers were involved. however, the light vibrations causing her coffee to move as she held it had other ideas.
with all the disappearances, zanna couldn’t help but feel paranoid that she was next. her daughter had once been taken away and that event set off a chain that altered the course of her life for forever. the woman had never meant to HURT anyone but control was definitely something that she struggled with. now, she felt like a TARGET. seismic waves were easy for things to pick up on and she was concerned that made her too detectable. stressing about this wasn’t going to do a whole lot of good for the woman; her abilities were out of control as it was without the extra stress. noticing that her cup of coffee had begun to shake, she swiftly took it from the table to try to cover it up as well as distract herself. “so, how was your day?” the doctor was good at deflecting and small talk seemed to be the best way forward.

If you’re lucky, you may catch them working at [ CERES CENTROPOLIS HOSPITAL ] as a [ DOCTOR ].
“I don’t know, auntie.” She shrugged and shook her head. “I just hope that whatever’s responsible is locked up. The last thing I need is more powered freaks running amuck. I still pay a lease on Grounded, and I won’t ever be able to buy one day it if there’s nothing left to pay for.” Annie sighed before finally turning to look at Zanna, who seemed noticeably tense. “Are you alright?” She asked, now concerned. “Did someone mess with you? I mean there was that problem on Main, with…” She furrowed her brows as she tried to think of the masked troublemakers. “There was that fight between Midas and Tachyon, I think… God, who the hell names these people.”
the other’s response made her feel extremely uneasy; it was her, it was ALL her and the younger woman was very clear on what she deserved. it was an offence to damage someone’s property but it was an ACCIDENT, it was always an accident. the woman had hurt her family and seemed to wreak havoc wherever she went. she wanted to apologise but it was clear that she couldn’t if the other held this attitude on powered beings. zanna had never asked for any of it, she had stepped up in her duty as a mother and it had ended terribly. no doubt people were looking for her but she didn’t want to go through anything else. drifting off slightly before annie’s question brought her back to the moment. “no, i’m fine. just tired from a long shift at the hospital.” shrugging, zanna crossed her arms.
Something always seemed to happen every day, without a rest. After living in the city of so long, Annie thought that she would get used to it, but each day served as another disappointment. She looked up at the new damages on the building next to her coffee shop. “What a pain in the ass…” She grumbled. “They better repair this shit soon before it causes any more trouble. People still gotta work ‘ere.”
everything always lead back to her yet she still wasn’t able to accept it. once more, the woman had lost control and caused damage when it came to the building. if zanna got upset or overheated, then this was the result and it was really hard for her to stand there lying through her teeth. it looked WORSE in daylight than in the darkness and it made her feel even more guilty. breathing in, the woman shook her head. “how do you think it happened.” the woman knew all too well but she couldn’t own up to it. for all she knew, the younger woman could have had a strong dislike for her ‘kind’, whatever that was...
hello, so i’m eleanor and i’m very excited about this roleplay !! this is zanna and her fc is constance zimmer who is actually the love of my life !! here are a few things about her before i begin.
[ ZANNA ARENSON ], who strongly resembles [ CONSTANCE ZIMMER ], has made Ceres Centropolis their home. They are a [ FORTY-SEVEN ] year old [ INHUMAN ] and has been in the city for [ TWO YEARS ]. They has known to have [ SEISMOKINESIS ]. They are known to be [ EMPATHETIC & LOYAL ] and [ ABRASIVE & DEFENSIVE ]. zanna never knew her father. her mother never really spoke of her father. whenever she asked questions, she’d avoid it. it wasn’t until she got a bit older that she revealed her father was trouble and she didn’t want him anywhere near zanna. all of those years, zanna felt like he had abandoned her but it wasn’t the case; he was forced to leave and she was indeed the reason why he needed to go. of course, she never asked her mother anything else as the woman did so much for her.
her mother worked her ass off and was so supportive. she was one of those women that worked for everything she had and she encouraged zanna to do the same. the girl got her first job on a market stall when she was thirteen. yes, she was intelligent but her mother wanted to teach her that she had to work for everything.
being an intellect with a great work ethic, zanna decided to become a doctor. it was ambitious but with her determination and her mother’s support she made it a success. of course, it was gruelling and it did test her but was worth it in the end.
she met her husband when she was an intern. everything moved pretty quickly for them and it wasn’t long before she became pregnant with her daughter. however, her husband took the lead parental role as zanna was very career orientated and wanted to return to work. she took two weeks off before returning.
the real problems came when ava became obsessed with superheroes and the gifted ones. zanna was the one to dismiss her husband’s worry saying that it was only a phase but he felt different. this escalated and he didn’t trust the woman’s judgement; their relationship began to deteriorate from then on but they stayed together to remain a unit, thinking that ava would come around and move on from her obsession. the tensions were already rising at this point.
however, that never came. the girl got in too far and ended up digging until she came across a secret organization of superheroes and that was how she gained the target on her back. somewhere out there, there were scientists looking to create their own gifted individuals and after doing some background checks, they realised that the girl’s maternal grandfather was an inhuman.
ava was kidnapped on her way to school and the next thing she knew, the so-called secret organization was banging on their door explaining what had happened. zanna was informed that an inhuman had contact with her daughter, her grandfather who she had never even met and this sent alarm bells ringing in her head. the woman felt so guilty for not taking the obsession seriously; she felt like it was her fault.
despite being advised against it, zanna went along with them and got caught up in it. the main priority was to retrieve her daughter and they succeeded but had to leave her behind. the woman had a greater chance of reacting positively to terrigenesis and their goal was to lead the woman out, using her daughter as bait so they could get what they wanted; zaanna would be a part of their army.
although her dna had been changed, the woman didn’t show any signs of any powers so was released, or at least they made her think she was. one of the scientists couldn’t let go so they started keeping track of them. this individual was followed back by an organization (think of something like s.h.i.e.l.d) and most of the scientists were taken out in an attempt to protect zanna.
after returning home, nothing was the same. her family was broken; her husband was angry at her, ava was traumatised and zanna didn’t talk to anyone. she did her best to seem strong for her daughter but she felt SOMETHING was different. three weeks passed before she started causing chaos. when her emotions were heightened things happened that she couldn’t explain. during the night, the house would shake and her husband assumed it was an earthquake but no one else had experienced it. it didn’t take long before he realised that it was his wife and the organisation was back in touch but she didn’t want their help; she was still in denial about everything.
she pushed it down through means of medication and managed to sustain this for around five years before the incident. her and her husband got into a massive fight and she lost all control. she made her house collapse and both her husband and daughter were injured. from then on, her husband was against powered beings.
zanna fled and the organization picked her up and tried to teach her how to control it. of course, she tried but gave up and decided it was time for a new life. she never went back to her family, instead she moved to ceres centropolis in an attempt to hide. she’s not telling anyone about her powers but isn’t good at covering things up so if your character has any sense, they’ll put two and two together. she’s been here for two years now.
she’s a really lovely woman, much less confident than she used to be but is flighty and is not ready to accept that she’s the monster people seem to fear. she knows she’s dangerous, she hurt the people she loved and feels like she can never go back again.
