something that can help a little if you are struggling with self-esteem and feelings of not being loved is knowing that beauty won’t grant you love and kindness where it matters the most. it can make you desired by more men, but there’s no guarantee they will treat you well. there are plenty of gorgeous women in domestic violence shelters. on a lesser note, every time a beautiful female celebrity is cheated on by her male partner, the reaction from other women is perplexity at how a man could cheat on a woman who “looks like that!” but why wouldn’t he? i feel women contribute to their own degradation when they support the idea that there is a higher caste of women who aren’t deserving of mistreatment.
there is no amount of beauty, sex, or even kindness you can give that would shield you from a man’s violence or infidelity. how a man treats a woman depends on his character alone. it has nothing to do with you, with your appearance, or your value as a human being.
i know beauty is the deepest wound in a woman’s heart and no words can cure it, but i believe there is some value in at least trying to confront that fantasy inside yourself. it may not make it hurt less, but maybe you can find a little peace.
