My headcanon of the day is that Ilya is not used to getting calls from family members unless they need something from him. Nobody ever calls him (maybe apart from Shane) to just simply check up on him. So the first time David calls him on a random day of the week, asks him about his day, hands the phone to Yuna to do the same—Ilya is a little confused as to why these people are just randomly calling him. He even texts David after they've hung up to confirm if they needed something and have just forgotten to mention it. When David texts back "no son we just wanted to check up on you" Ilya sits and stares at that text until he feels his throat close up and there's an odd sting in his eyes.

Ji "confession" written for Kyungsoo?

I wanted to talk about it in another post, but this will do with no problems.

First of all, I want to bring the lyrics and observe some points of it. Like how JI actively participated on the lyrics composition. It’s different from Spoiler, for example, that had other composers and neither JI or CY were involved (Loey also was credited in Confession lyrics). At the same time tho, there’s no much background or publicity about this fact of the story behind this song. Which is kind of a paradox, since JI participated actively on this process.

There was even a live JI did at 191229 where he mentioned a bit about revealing Spoiler to the public.At 2:53 he mentions how it’s totally different from Confession and is about to explain the difference when he, suddenly, stops himself and quickly finishes the livestream.

Another points that gets my attention while listening to Confession are:

It’s originally a very sexualized song (the title Favorite Position says it all lool), but it changed drastically with JI’s composition (although the stage is sort of sexual since he’s shirtless and all of that). In other hand, Spoiler gets more evident in terms of sexualization lyrically speaking, using terms like “let’s skip the conversation” and others that lead the characters to a sexual encounter and what may happen after that;

The fact Confession doesn’t use female pronouns to refer to the partner JI is singing to. You imagine he’s singing to a woman because he’s a man (which doesn’t invalidate the hypothesis of singing to another man but ok) and because there’s a backup vocal that mentions “girl” once or twice in the middle of the song. That’s it. Because the lyrics don’t talk about a girl at all. And he composed this song meanwhile, again, Spoiler wasn’t composed by him. Moving on;

It’s bizarre how, somehow, the composers of Spoiler seem to make a reference to Confession using this word in the lyrics “ What do you want, a frank character? I need your confession” (this part is written in English). The way it was put, it seemed to me like Spoiler was a remake of confession or a sequel, evidencing it more in a modern way of, perhaps, a temporary relationship between a man and a woman based more on sex. In other words, taking the ambiguous feel Confession left.

The lyrics itself

There are some people who interpreted the lyrics in their own way. That’s a positive thing about music: it’s open for different points of view. So some aspects may differ from what people said, but replying to your main question: yes, I believe Confession was written with KS in mind.

There’s more involved and we can interpret this relationship happens for a while to develop such feelings admist the life routine and boredom it brings to some people;

I just wanna know ya, time for confession. Time for confession. Hit yourself up: this part may pass the impression JI and the recipient don’t know each other very well. But it’s not true, When he says, “I just wanna know ya”, it’s because it’s estabilished the recipient hides his own self, his own feelings and makes harder for JI to fully meet the person he’s involved with. And when he says “hit youself up” it’s the way to mention how the recipient needs to make an action, to connect and contact first, say his name (as a way of aknowledgment) and confess;

Your voice is deeper than the darkness of the night: that is another key point that give away the fact this song wasn’t created with a female in mind. Even scientifically speaking, a female voice tends to have a higher range than a male;

An adult woman’s average range is from 165 to 255 Hz, while a man’s is 85 to 155 Hz (see sources). Men’s voices are generally deeper because the surge of testosterone released during puberty causes their vocal cords to elongate and thicken (source).

Besides, KS’s voice is well known for being low in both singing and speaking. Won’t show videos for that since it’s a well know fact already.

Your gaze is focused, as if you are looking for something, that’s all: some gifs I posted above show this side of KS as well hehe.

I still want your limp body. All I want is your love: another sentence that shows it’s not a casual relationship for JI. It doesn’t matter if the body is weak or getting old or if there are injuries along the way. He wants the soul, the feelings, the love from the recipient;

Wake up slowly. Don't worry, it's time to let it go. You don’t need make up: this sentence can be ambiguous, especially because it uses make up. Some people interpret it as a literal make-up and it could be the real meaning because it talked about getting older and the action of waking up. But it also may mean make up something or pretend and it also has base in what JI said before. So both meanings could be valid here (when looking for translations in other languages the meaning was surrounded by a literal make up but anyways);

Come even close to me with your head up and feel sad right now: there’s a process going on here. The recipient needs to be vulnerable and get closer to the person he loves (in this case JI). But this person also needs to do it confidently (with the head up) and feeling sad, which means the recipient needs to accept his feelings even if they’re dark or if he wants to naturally hide them.It’s another clue that this process is not only sexual. On the contrary. There are many layers in this relationship and the song shows them all.

Coincidentially, I came across this article talking about KS’s voice and the person mentions in some occasions how his insecurity affects his performance If a vocal coach can notice his insecurity, imagine those who are close to him;

Baek also said once that KS needs to believe in his heart and not listen to what others think, which could show a bit this side of him (that matches the song accurately).

Come even close, I want more. Know what I’m saying, you know what I’m saying: again, the closure JI seeks is not only physical. It’s not only the body, the satisfaction, the sex. There are a lot of feelings involved from his part and he wants the confirmation they’re mutual, he wants the closure to the recipient. And ofc, the recipient knows it pretty well.

So, if I believe this song is about KS? Oh yeah 😜

Shipping r fun but we know it's not real :( We do not have any evidence to claim that Kd is real. All of their moments are the basis of what all ships do.

I agree with you about the first part. Shipping is fun and it should be fun.

But about the “not real” part it can be questionable. What is real to you? Because Dispatch didn’t confirm their relationship? Because SM didn’t confirm their relationship? Because if you ship an otp expecting them to be outed, that is just cruel. We act like being outed with or against your will wouldn’t bring any consequences to the people involved but it does. And it’s something companies will try to bury at all costs. And with reason. So if someone ships and waits anxiously for a same sex couple to be confirmed real, trust me: you’re not on the right path at all. At least if you preach you wish the best for those people you claim to love.

In other hand, it’s crystal clear that there are LGBT idols in Korea. There was even the blind item about a same sex couple inside kpop that came from a huge group. Officially their identities weren’t revealed, but they existed or still do, considering they’re still together and in private.

I know that you in particular asked about another question regarding why kd is so different from other otps inside xo and promise, I’ll reply. But kd had so many details within the years. Their admiration towards each other is no joke. All the times they hurt themselves and the other was there, nearby or actively doing things for them. Not just laughing around or joking or using their closure for fame. But in the worst public moments, they were there for each other. And then came jagi and people still try to deny it or say it’s a term even friends use with each other like 😅. If someone published the kissing picture that made a fuss back in 2015, people would still make excuses about them being just friends or simply hating each other.

When I started shipping kd especifically, I didn’t mind if they dated or not. I remembered gushing over their moments simply because it was a bond I never saw between two idols. Not because they tried to kiss each other for fanservice, but the way they always treated each other was so full of admiration and care. Today, we don’t have moments to reblog and discuss like before. But what moves people to still remember and support them is this feeling of finding someone who can give you a bit of closure. And independently of the otp, of their public moments and what others say, it should be enough.

I’m confused too tbh, not just all of you. I actually took some time to go through all of his pure love interviews, related past interviews and his ex-gf rumor during his pre-debut. I believe his pure love interviews could be scripted at some point. It is his very first movie as the lead actor. Pure Love itself is a story about first love. Questions related to first love in interviews would have been expected. SM would have prepared him to answer question accordingly.

This is purely based on my opinions and observations. I don’t claim any of my statements as facts and the truth. Take it as it is, leave it as it is.

[A] Let’s start with his very first pure love interview on 150728

“(My first love) is more gloomy than bright and cutesy. After it ended, I was always gloomy. My memories of my first love weren’t that good.”

This statement matched with his statement on 160203

고3이었다. 행복하고 풋풋한 첫사랑이 아니라, 우울하고 조금은 슬픈 추억이다. 내가 굉장히 많이 집착했다. 지금도 그걸 후회하고 있다

My first love when I was in 3rd year of high school. It wasn’t a happy and lively first love, rather a sad and depressing memories. I was very clingy. I still regret acting like that till today.

He also added information that his first love was when he was in 3rd year of high school and he was clingy.

However, his statement changed in pure love jp interview, 160602.

Before I go into details, the translator miss translated a certain part in the 2nd question. The original interview

――初恋の特別な思い出はありますか？

D.O.「僕の初恋は、たしか高校3年生の時だったと思います。その時がすごく温かくて、幸せでした。もちろん幸せだと感じる時間は他にもたくさんありますが、異性に対して幸せを感じたのは、この時だったと思います」

Q: Do you have a special memory of your first love?

A: My first love was when I was around the 3rd grade of high school. That time I felt so warm and contented/happy. Of course there are many times that I could feel happiness, but the time that I feel happy towards the opposite sex, I think that’s the time (3rd grade of hs).

(translated by a friend who is fluent in japanese).

The translator supposedly referred to the jp-kr translation. Even in that version, there was mentioned of opposite sex.

Well, I don’t know why the translator left out the word opposite sex…. Even kfans told me that in the jp-kr translation, KS did mention opposite sex. So guys, beware of jp-kr-eng translated articles/interviews from now. Do review the original articles/interviews ;)

Anyway, his statement changed from unpleasant memories to warm and happiness feelings… And with additional of the word ‘opposite sex’ which is definitely not necessary. Kfans also told me it’s weird for KS to mention opposite sex. The norm for us is when we mentioned first love, generally, people would have thought of the opposite sex especially when it comes to their oppa. ‘Oppa is not gay!’. I’m sorry for being stereotyping but that’s just how it is.

He also mentioned the word of opposite sex towards the end of his statement, as if he was trying to emphasize that part, ‘I like girls and only girls’. It was definitely an unnecessary additional information to me. It feels like ‘I don’t like men’ interview all over again.

When you’re being cornered or trying to cover things up, you tend to add a fact(s) that is known by everyone, but you need to bring it up to ensure people know that and didn’t misunderstand you. It’s like telling everyone that the earth is round when everyone knows it. Well, unless sm tells you it’s square. LOL

Besides that, I do believe there could be a correlation between the first and the second questions in his pure love jp interview. In the first question, he mentioned that first love is the feeling when you feel the happiest and the warmest. He could be trying to match his answer with the first question - repetition of the word happy and warm. Technically, he didn’t quite answer the second question. He avoided the ‘special memory’ and gave a very vague answer.

[B] This leads me to the theory that KS first love might not be his ex-gf. Rumors about him having a gf started to circulate around late 2012. Then, his ex-gf herself posted things on sns. When he was about to debut, his ex-gf wish him good luck and deleted everything. (I can’t find the original source for this bcoz everything was deleted. Sorry!)

Firstly, let’s find out when exactly is his 3rd year of high school.

So, he sent his letter to his brother in 2009 when he was in 2nd year of high school. He mentioned in that letter,

the picture I took with my girlfriend on our 100th day is the most recent one ㅋㅋ Although we’re on our 133rd day now.

And for SM, I have to visit them one more time after midterms, but I think this time it’ll be to sign the contractㅋㅋ

KS was born on Jan 1993, he is considered as the same age as those who was born in 1992 in SK. He was in 2nd year of high school from March 2009-Feb 2010. Then, his 3rd year of high school is from March 2010-Feb 2011. He graduated high school on Feb 2011. JI also graduated a year early than OSH even tho they were born in the same year, 120209.

According to this, he auditioned for SM late of his 2nd year or the beginning of his 3rd year. I believe he auditioned for SM late of 2009 and could have joined the company early of 2010 to match with his statement in his letter. He did say in his interview he joined SM in 2010 (training for 2 years).

So we have established that: (1) KS had a gf when he was in 2nd year of high school, 2009. (2) He was the 3rd year on 2010. (3) If he dated his gf since 2nd year of high school, it didn’t match his statement that his first love was in 3rd year of high school. (4) He joined SM early of 2010.

[C] Next, in this video, he mentioned that he like someone in the 3rd year. He chose the song, my lady. It’s a song about confession. He said that the person he liked was from a different class.

Having a gf —-> liking someone is not the same thing. Again with the 3rd year. It’s definitely not his ex-gf.

If we referred to his teacher’s statement, she said that KS was hardly around school after he joined SM. He was only around for the first and the second period before he left for training. And I don’t buy his from a different class statement. He was hardly around school but he had the time to develop a feeling towards a person from a different class?

So maybe this person was from a different class but not the class we thought it was. He didn’t mention it was from the same class in his school. Maybe someone among the trainee that was from a different group? To me, that makes more sense. If we’re talking about attachment and affection, especially for guys since they’re emotionally unavailable at most of the times (they do engage with emotions but not as much as women), it blossoms when you could see and stay near/close with the said person. Even newly born babies take a few months to fully identify/know and get attach with their primary caretaker under the condition that they get the necessary attention needed.

And don’t forget KS did mention in 2nd box couple talk with JI that he had been watching JI since trainee and he thought JI was a cool person.

So who is KS’s first love? Imo, it is who you think it is.

[D] Why sad and depressing memories to warm and happy feelings?

I think KS could have changed his definition of first love. If we’re talking about the same person here, which his statements didn’t fit at all, it doesn’t make any sense. Something could have happened recently for him to change that statement.

He mentioned about his first love depressing memories on 150728. Remember what happened on 150720? JI’s phone cracked. During this interview, he didn’t mention that his first love was from in 3rd year of hs yet. Maybe there’s relation, maybe not? Hmm.

Then, his statement remained the same on 160203. I believe he was trying to make his answer consistent here. He mentioned the same thing with additional information of first love in the 3rd year of high school and being clingy.

160202, topstarnews posted an interview of KS.

q. you live out for filming, and you’re probably dorming with the exo members too. do you have any space to yourself?

KS: I have a room to myself at the dorms. The people who want to room together will, and the people who want to room alone will. I don’t like disturbing other people, and it’s also uncomfortable if our tendencies don’t match.

q. any faults in your personality?

KS: I was fearful. I’ve managed to draw much of it off now, but the thought of being alone forever. That’s very frightening. I’m working to overcome that for the people I hold near and dear. It’s good to feel such an emotion [fear], but sometimes it’s like a poison.

Not too long ago before that, KS did mention he was roommates with JI. I believe the filming for the 2nd box was around Aug-Sept 15 (he was tanned bcoz of pure love filming). Pure love filming took place throughout the summer (June-Aug). 2nd box released on Oct 15. Why the sudden change of room when they have been roommate since Mama era and uncomfortable if our tendencies don’t match? KS only realized that after 3 years of rooming together. Hmm. I think rooming alone was bs.

The second question was regarding him being fearful of being alone forever. Remember that 2016 is the year KS started to initiate skinship and moments with JI. I think during this time, he would have been working to overcome that feeling. Letting it out. Express it. Show that you care. It’s ok.

Let’s not mention that SM has been trying to separate them since Mama. I remember one of May’s (faakeid) anon said that sm like to cast gay idols because it is easier for sm to control them.

However controlling them is not the same as separating them. Control them but why do you want to separate them? I think that statement didn’t apply to exo_. Referring to 2012 insider post, SM is very determined to make exo_ very successful. They’ve already planned exo_ even a few years before their debut.

So, having a gay couple in the boy group could jeopardize that plan and bring future problems to them like right now. And SM seems to favor JI since the beginning. He was very well promoted before debut. JI was supposed to portray that sexy and charismatic personality in exo_, which he never fails to show that to this day.

KS first love is JI. JI has never talked about his first love and there were no rumors of him having gf before debut. He was very immersed in his dancing since the beginning. He’s a boy, now a man with passion for what he does. Like how he can’t keep his hands off KS. Those unnecessary touches. Stares at KS when he wasn’t even talking. Laughing while he looked at KS, wondering if KS find it funny too. His 3-word poems that only KS found it very funny. Those inside jokes that only both of them understand.

It drives me crazy that everything seems to fit the timeline and description so much. I don’t even do much in this analysis. I just collect information and news, connected the dots then this is the outcome.

But again, I’m not trying to persuade anyone to believe in anything. This post also helps me to understand the situation better too.

Fuck you sm. Do your job but why the fuck do you want to separate them. So kxk didn’t work, you move to other alternatives? Laugh’s on you. You’re being too obvious now. I’m sorry to disappoint you but I won’t stop.

Remember when seh * un and Ji did a live where they exposed s * m. Ji said that s * m made him do an IG account and that they gave him a script. In the script it said that Ji had to do a live with tae * min, which they did. Se * hun asked Ji if he had been forced to do this and he said yes. So it just shows how Ji's lives are planned and scripted. That's why Ji never talks about Ks.

Do you remember the year/date of this live? It’s just something I never saw people commenting tbh.
