What is a GMO?

According to the nongmoproject.com (an awesome website! Check it out) a GMO is genetically modified organism which is an animal or plant that is created through gene splicing techniques that create new organisms that can with-stand stronger pesticides. These modifications however are getting into our food and since it is a man made organism our bodies cannot digest them properly and we have been started to develop new health probelms, one of these being gluten intolerance. These GMO's were created to help our food last longer and withstand a new pesticide but it was never taken into consideration if this would be harmful for the ones digesting the food that the GMO's are "protecting".
