Viral Interventions: Final Documentation (FINAL)
Statement: For our final project, we hosted a livestream showing our store-bought cake to our online audience and eating it. This project was actually more fun than I thought, especially because we got to eat cake! It was also nice to interact with our audience by asking them silly questions like, “if you could be any animal, which animal would you be?” The biggest challenge was the scheduling; it was difficult to find a time where we could all meet. However, we were able to solve this issue by video calling each other through FaceTime and discussing plans that way. My favorite part of this project was definitely eating the cake! Additionally, collaborating with my group was fun because we were able to combine all our different ideas into one concept. I believe we were successful in reaching a wide audience; however, it would’ve been better to provide people with more notice to join the livestream.
Viral Interventions: Process (Process Photos)
These process photos show the makeup of the cake as well as the photos we utilized for the dating profile. We also have pictures of the instagram accounts we set up for the cake, and the final photo is an exact replica of what was shown on the livestream.
This is the dating profile we also set up for the cake.
Viral Interventions: Timeline
Viral Interventions: Propose (3 Ideas for Project)
First Proposal: Park Banner
Our first proposal relies on artistic technique and typography. We would purchase a blank, white banner and create a sign displaying our sentence: Pushing to save ourselves from the AI we were tricked into (we decided to change the word “government” to “AI.”) After we finish decorating the banner, we would drive to a public park and hold up our banner for people to see. We chose a park for our public space because it’s very open and usually contains a good amount of people; it is also convenient for transportation purposes. Although our main audience will be the people at the park, we will also be publishing it on different social media platforms including YouTube and TikTok.
Second Proposal: The Interview
For our next proposal, we thought an interview would be an effective, professional way to obtain an audience. First, we would create some controversial and deep questions about our sentence. After we decide on the best ones, we would interview people and get their opinons on our questions; we would either set up a table in a specific location or drive to different ones. If we decide to stay in a specific location, we would make something similar to the banner idea and put it in front of our table; that way, it will be easier to attract an audience. We would also post our interview on different social media platforms.
Third Proposal: CAKE.
Our last proposal is all about cake! We would most likely buy one for convenience purposes. We were thinking of making it a burn-away cake; that way, when we light the first layer, it will burn, dissolve and reveal the second layer with our sentence written on top of it. For our audience, we wanted to host a livestream at a public park and chat with people while eating our cake. The livestream with either be on YouTube or Instagram; we will also create a dating profile for our cake and see how many people reach out to it.
Viral Interventions: Barbara Kruger QCQ
Q: “Your body is a battleground.”
C: I chose this quote because it captivated my attention; I found myself having to pause and rewind the video to make sure I heard it right. This quote is a very interesting metaphor, and I definitely agree with it. As a woman, this video was very relatable to me; it was interesting to hear a different perspective on art and journey to becoming an artist. “Your body is a battleground” not only speaks from historical influence, but it also highlights events in the present. Your body can be seen as a canvas for scars and wounds to portray the obstacles you’ve encountered, as well as how they molded you into the person you are today.
Q: Questions to Think About:
What can scars say about an individual?
When you think of the word “body,” what are some things that come to mind? How do those things relate to the video?
How does the body relate to art?
Why do you think Barbara Kruger chose to describe the body as a “battleground?” How does that relate to art?

Viral Interventions: Final Proposal
Statement: For our final proposal, we’ve decided to go with the cake idea because it’s unique and fun! We are going to buy a cake from Publix; unfortunately, they do not make burn-away cakes, so we are just going to have the sentence written on a normal cake. After we pick up the cake, we are going to showcase it by hosting a livestream in a public park; we are expecting an audience both physically and virtually. In addition we will also have pink lemonade and other decorations to make it look cute. Along with the livestream, we are also going to have a dating profile for the cake and see how well it does. When we receive the cake, we will take pictures of the cake, create a bio, and upload it.
Viral Interventions: Present (FINAL)
Statement: For our presentation, we decided to take a performative approach. Our sentence is: "Pushing to save ourselves from the government we were tricked into." To demonstrate our sentence effectively, we decided to act it out; our video shows one of our group members being "pushed" back and forth. We chose to do it outside of Publix because it is a place filled with a lot of people, especially during the time our assignment was taking place. Overall, our video showcases our sentence well; it emphasizes the meaning of being pushed into something, which also relates to part of our sentence.
Viral Interventions: Compose (Memes for Sentence)
Statement: Our sentence is, “Pushing to save ourselves from the government we were tricked into.” I wanted to make sure the memes I chose related to the sentence, so that’s why most of the expressions are worried, sad, or frustrated. My favorite meme would have to be the second one because the car depicts exactly what our sentence is about; the car is changing gears at the last second, making it look like it’s desperate to go right just as we are desperate to save ourselves from our tricky government. I also really like the third one because I love how the dog just responds with, “this is fine” as his world is crumbling around him. Overall, my memes depict negative, emotional responses to our sentence.

Things that Perform: Covering the Body (FINAL)
Medium: Lampshade, yarn
Statement: For this project, although the idea was a little tough to come up with, it was simple in the end. I wanted to reuse my wood project, so I decided to take the lampshade as a cover for my head. Since I was going to be wearing a lampshade, I thought it would be cool to reuse tassels and other accessories from my graduation. This project wasn’t too hard because I had a lot of materials to work with; it was just weird wearing my creation. I chose to do this piece because I wanted to reuse materials, and it was nice to relate my previous project to this one. The hardest part was coming up with the concept of my idea; sometimes you don’t know what you have, even if it’s right in front of you. I actually enjoyed this project a lot, and I am looking forward to some more like this in the future.
