[ahhhhh hello! Another ask blog from the mod of @askthehedgehogs and @asktheyurihogs !! This one will NOT be an art blog. Text-based answers only. I don’t have a death wish lmaoooo.
Normal Folks/no powers AU. Sonic and Shadow are both on the same internship for ARKnews. Their final project is in set groups, and they’ve been shoved together, which they are not happy about. As if sharing a tiny apartment wasn’t bad enough… the project requires them to run a blog, so that’s why they’re here! Also, the projects will be judged and the best group will secure a full-time job at ARK… highly competitive stuff. I won’t say any more, spoils the fun of asking them stuff!
As per usual, I’ve not planned ahead, so send in asks and we’ll see what happens ^^;

Okay, here's a better option. Didn't you guys get that job offer at that other media place with Jewel? And didn't they say they wanted to help with the investigation? You and Sonic can both go down there with your findings.

We could... That would keep us out of danger. I'm hesitant about Doom finding out that the media is involved, but... It could be our best option.
I think no matter what everyone says Shadow, you've clearly made up your mind about whether to check up on Phoebe or not. You're not looking for someone to tell you no, you just want to be told it's the right choice. And it is a right choice to want that, but maybe it's just not the choice to make right now. Just add it to the current list of things you're going to do after Doom is dealt with, then you can be sure visiting her won't endanger anyone including her.
Excuse me? I haven't made a decision yet. I asked Sonic for his thoughts and his response was inconclusive.
I mean we also gotta consider that maybe doom was lying. Maybe phoebe had nothing to do with it or didnt know she was sending shadow into a trap and doom just said all that to make you feel like everyone is against you and you can't trust anybody
That's possible as well. It would be foolish to blindly trust everything Doom says.
Do we even really know if Phoebe is your actual mother? You didn't do a blood test or anything and she could've just been some random hedgehog working for Doom.
To be fair, she looked so like Shadow. Just without the red, and a different quill pattern.
I don't know, something about Phoebe had been fishy from the beginning. The way she described the circumstances of your birth as being "bred" for Doom's experiments without much concern beyond the fact you didn't know, kind of says a lot about her.
...... I think she's likely just as autistic as I am. And besides that, I'm sure the situation was quite traumatising. She may have emotionally distanced herself from me as a coping mechanism.
Shadow, as much I I want to put some trust in Phoebe, you really don't know at what point she had started helping Doom and whether it really was her choice or not. We don't know how Vector got her details in the first place (who knows if Doom was responsible for that), whether she informed Doom the moment you contacted her, if Doom got involved at some point after you or her reached out. You really don't know anything about the entire situation and, if you take the risk to find out, you could either be putting yourself or her in danger again.
I have no doubt that Doom was involved from the start, or at least from before we went to meet my mother. But... I refuse to believe she would have chosen to help him if there was no threat to her family. She seemed kind. I can't blame her for wanting to protect her new life. I would feel the same way, if I had to do something bad to protect Sonic.
They've got a point about putting her in danger though. If we contact her, Doom might see it as betrayal and take her family away.
Benefit of the doubt maybe she was trying to warn you subtly but for all you know the "concerned mother telling her child not to do something dangerous" was all just part of the act. After all you did get the address from her, and I don't typically give my kids knives before telling them, "Don't play with knives".
No. But you do have to tell your kids where the knives are kept at some point. Generally before they reach adulthood.
I can't say I blame Pheobe for what she did but you probably can't fully trust her again so I'm not sure if reaching out or trying to see her would be a good idea. The fact Doom could reliably count on you even finding and reaching out to her probably means he keeps way closer tabs on her than you might think. Hopefully she's ok and nothing happened to her and I wish the best for her family but you ALSO have a family you need to prioritize and she's basically confirmed for you that she's not apart of that.
Whether my mother sees me as part of her family or not, she is part of mine. But...... I do have a family to prioritise. I'm not going to make any decisions without involving them this time.
*Shadow finds Sonic making lunch and slots in beside him, resting against his side*

*Sonic blinks. He hums and concentrates on the task at hand* Well... Given we don't know a whole lot about how involved she was, it makes me nervous.

But, I mean... If it were my mom, I'd also be kinda worried about her. So I totally get wanting to check if she's okay.

Are you really gonna talk to Pheobe again? She obviously doesn't care about what happens to you otherwise she would've at least tried to give you a heads up. Even if her actions are understandable they're certainly not justified.
Well... In her defense, she did try to warn us. She asked me to promise we wouldn't go to the lab. If she knew it was a trap, perhaps that was her desperate attempt to put us off without angering Doom.
