How much more sense would the movie Mulan make if its main character was ftm?

Heck, Shang falls in love with Mulan while Mulan is dressed as a dude! Plus they’d be the cutest gay couple, and both poc- hello representation!

For half the movie she is complaining about how awful men are- often in tandem with Hades (who is totally 100% full homo but that is not the point)
So after her horrible experience with a guy (selling her soul for him, and promptly getting dumped on her ass), she swears off het relationships and discovers girls. After all, Greek goddesses are just as fine as their male counterparts…
This explains why she is so skeptical about Hercules at first. She definitely feels something, but she’s not sure if she wants to go back to guys yet. In the end, he is really her true love, so they still end up together. I bet he’d be pretty shocked to hear some of the things she got up to!

I'm gonna build on this though... All I can see is Meg running to the ocean and crying to Ariel about the nasty boys she's encountered and convincing her to hold off on leaving the sea... B/c a) she wants to protect her and b) she wants to keep Ariel around for herself so that they can mess around and what not. Then obviously because cousins brag to each other, Ariel tells Herc about this major greek babe she's seeing and he instantly connects the dots. OH LORD... And like even an AU where Ariel tries to get onto land to be with MEG instead of Eric, to prevent Hercules from trying (and ultimately failing) to steal her girl. Randommakings asks: I'm starting to like the idea of Elsa and Belle together, what do you think about that? I think they're personalities would work beautifully together. Mod Jacq: Well, unfortunately I don't have an opinion on Elsa yet because I haven't seen Frozen! I've actually been trying to avoid the movie up till now, mainly due to a lot of problematic stuff attached to it, ex.: the fact that they took a totally "almost aces the bechdel test" story into... "Frozen". :/ I know, this is coming from the girl that loves Pocahontas despite its super-racist depictions of Natives. But that's different (in my opinion at least) mainly because my attachment is based on childhood sentimentality, whilst my opinion of Frozen has been formed based on sociological critique of the work BEFORE seeing the movie. However, I will watch it this weekend so that I can stay on top of all things Disney in order to best answer this question! I'm still sort of curious about the characters' personalities, as well. All this being said, I'm sorry I couldn't answer the question right away, but fear not, I will be revisiting this ask within the next couple of days to give you a proper answer!
I just finished reading all 8 chapters of "Fate" by fanfiction.net user ryuzaki-will-live-on in one sitting!!! I must say, as far as fanfic stories go, this definitely falls on the better end of the spectrum. I love the Jasmine/Esmeralda pairing, and the story line actually incorporates canon elements, which I find quite impressive... Mainly because I find it's often easier for writers to just write a completely different story/setting/plot, rather than re-work new characters and plot twists (in a believable way) into what is already there. Sadly, this story hasn't been updated since Apr. 2012, but if it gets enough reviews I wonder if the author will pick up where they left off... I sincerely hope they do!!
