the thing about alastor being aromantic even only by word of god is that its so fucking true. like oh my god its so correct what the fuck no character has ever been more aromantic than this guy yes hes a serial killer cannibal and it could be easily construed as aromantic=heartless=evil but the fanfiction writers are all on the spectrum and simply know what theyre doing. keeping his aromanticism in mind isnt only (to me) the single easiest way of humanizing him but it just makes so much fucking sense with what we know about him. his friendship-turned-rivalry with vox due to voxs obssession and alastors rejection is the most obvious, but also alastor being more comfortable around women bc his time's social dynamics and his experiences in both hell and earth taught him that women might be more likely to develop unwanted feelings for him but men are more likely to be aggressive/forward/a nuisance about it (again, vox) and when it comes to his asexuality, that adjacent perception of men as more sexual than women (as socially construed as it may be) makes him feel more aligned with women, who he generally deems as more polite, pleasant and even intelligent, because they, like him, seem to not be as governed by lust as he finds men are. his distate for the crass/impulsive/unpolished is because those are often related to feelings that he simply does not have and therefore sees it as a weakness that others cant be as Immune to sentimentality and temptation as he is. he must have at least a subconscious understanding that he doesnt feel Love and he does believe that must make him primed for evil but he's also. pretty comfortable with that. yes he is evil! he kills and eats people for fun! one day hes gonna figure out other people are aro and not serial killers and he'll be like huh. thats odd
