Assignment #12
What are some of the reasons why the author suggests his proposal?
- He proposes his idea of selling poor-nourished children to the upper-class individuals in Ireland to stop the overpopulation, poverty, and unemployment. They mainly imply that the immense population of children in the streets with her mother’s or father’s is a concern for their own parents and it gives the country a bad looking, for it is a great place. The author points out that whoever is willing enough to provide female beggars and their children a way to get out the streets should be glorified, for they will help their country making them a true patriot. The author has a passion to assist his own country and parents from being an irrelevant individual. The author believes that children creates a burden to their parents for constantly wanting attention and being on her backs daily. The author proposes options to not be a part of the human cannibalism. The options are be able to be a thieve for work, fight for the King James II in Spain, or to sell themselves to the Barbadoes.
Does the author have a sense of moral when suggesting his proposal to the public?
- I believe that the author doesn’t want to incorporate the righteousness of this proposal, instead he just mentions the wrongfulness in his proposal scheme. Mid/last part of the proposal he expresses that no other alternatives should be form from other individuals regarding his proposal, because it is considered to be a good proposal to solve everyone’s problems. Any naysayer that dislikes the authors proposal should provide a better-to-perfect alternative to the primary problems of Ireland. I know for a fact that this a satire story, which is a humor that addresses the concerns of a place. In reality cannibalism is a wrongful thing to do, because it is considered as a terrible sin. The authors immense years of planning towards his proposal, he is denying any outside negative comments towards his proposal. I truly believe that his proposal isn’t as perfect as the author makes it seem. I believe that there is going to be public concern as the proposal is implied in Ireland. The author makes himself seem as a heartless individual creating this type of problem-solution scheme, which the family of beggars are willing to sell their children to be eaten and to be happy with it. In reality a mother or father would not allow this to happen to their dearest children. I feel that this proposal is not serious, because Catholics that are mention does not accept this for this is sinful. Usually Catholics are against this human cannibalism practices. A world problem shouldn’t be solved by harming a human being in any shape or form.
