If I'm 13 years old and have never experienced romantic attraction to anyone but have experienced platonic crushes (kinda when you really want to be friends with a person) and sexual feelings towards girls and boys and non binary genders. Do you think it's possible that I'm aromantic? I've lately been suspecting this.

That sounds like aromantic pansexual. However, it could also be platoniromantic, depending on which you feel more comfortable with. owo But yes, that is an aromantic thing!

As you guys who have been around since the beginning know, this blog suffers from bouts of being inactive for months at a time. This culminates from a number of reasons; both mods have to keep up with schoolwork, personal lives do exist, etc.

Hello. I just realised i'm aromantic and i'm sort of nervous about it. What kind of powers will I gain because of this and will I really grow horns and a tail?

The only thing to be nervous about right now is keeping your powers in check. It’s no fun to wake up and realize you’ve accidentally signaled all cats in the area to flock to your home when you were emitting brain waves in your sleep. 

The tail is a lie, but the horns serve as satellites for those brain waves. Luckily, they usually don’t grow too much, and can be covered with strategically gel’d hair.

Can i be aromantic but still have a crush on someone?

The short answer: Since there’s so many different aromantic identities, of course!

The long answer: If you identify as anything but simply aromantic, i.e. gray-aro/aroflux, demiromantic, kalos/cupio, etc., definitely. All of those aromantic terms designate a limited or very selective type of having a crush. It gets a bit more confusing when you’re looking at the term “aromantic” on its own, since platonic feelings can often be confused for romantic ones, which is probably what’s happening if that’s the term you’ve been using. Simply speaking, if you’re using the term aromantic on its own, it indicates that you DON’T have crushes or romantic feelings for anyone.

Nnnnot really, it’s gonna vary depending on the aromantic person. Just because someone is aromantic doesn’t mean they can’t display signs of affection. Since there’s such a wide variety of aromantic identities, it would be hard to pin down what the exact limits of what a “romantic relationship” would be. If you’re dating someone who’s strictly aromantic, not demi or gray or something along those lines, then for them, it probably IS like being best friends. There would be love, but platonic love.

Is it possible for a hopeless romantic and an aromantic to date? And if its possible how what can i do in the relationship? How do aromantics date?

Aromantics date just like anyone else dates! Go see movies! Go cuddle if you want to and watch TV or play video games! Talk about life and emotions. Be honest with each other and respect boundaries. Go do fun things together. Be special to one another without being romantic special.

It's like a best friend you're allowed to kiss and call your special person.

That is another valid meaning for akoiromantic. We've come to understand akoiromantic is an incredibly broad label that affects everyone just a bit differently (then again most labels do anyhow).

Is there a term for where I feel on the spectrum? I feel like I'm akoiromantic but also kalosromantic - like I want a romantic relationship but as soon as I'm in one, any feelings I have fade and I feel trapped and uncomfortable even if I like the person and they've done nothing wrong?

Normally we would have an answer for this Nonnie, but unfortunately you caught the mod who is experiencing the exact same dilemma. It's a weird place to sit on the spectrum and I completely understand where you're coming from 100%. I'm even looking for a better fitting label myself. When I find one I'll be sure to post it up for you.

I'd like to open this up to the community, if they have any ideas for a better fitting label would they please share it?
