Weeding, cleaning + enjoying the backyard, 3 days after getting engaged! The tiger lilies come back faithfully every year, along with the ivy and the other weeds:) We love having this beautiful space to escape the city life!

May 20, 2012: We pulled up some GIGANTIC weeds and roots! These things were hidden all over the garden. What a mess!
April 30, 2012: The flowering weigela and Shragi the froggy are in place; we fixed the mint patch, relined all of the other brick paths, and cleared out even more weeds and crazy roots.
April 30, 2012: Updated before and after view - looks like a totally different place!
April 28, 2012: Now that we had all the weeds and dead things cleared out, we decided to start planting. I got a flowering Weigela from Crest Hardware on Metropolitan, and we planted him next to the little frog sculpture we found (and named Shragi).
April 20, 2012: Before and After views, taken from the side where our kitchen window faces out into the yard.
April 15, 2012: Making progress - garden beds totally weeded, and we redid the bricks that form the pathways in between.
April 14, 2012: goofing around with a leaf bag! #scottyleaf
April 14, 2012: Scott in action!
April 14, 2012 - We discovered a stone pathway and garden beds, and carefully dug out all the weeds while trying to preserve the flowers and herbs that were still there.
#4: WE DISCOVER THE "SECRET" GARDEN UNDER THE IVY
APRIL 7, 2012
Before & After: Sawing the tree that's poking through the fence / crushing the hammock.
# 2: YOU BETTA WERK
MARCH 24, 2012
Scott had sawed the top of the tree growing through the fence/hammock, and stacked them to the side. The front part of the yard is about 75% cleared of the ivy and weeds. Sawed another tree in the front part. Pull weeds, rake, stuff into bags, repeat.
The last photo is a comparison between the first and second weekends of work - it's getting there!
