Mother and Child from Tassili-n-Ajjer - Prehistoric African
Algeria, Africa
5000 - 500 BCE
The Tassili were a group of people who tried to stick around in the Sahara after it turned into a desert, but they were gone by the year 2000 BCE. Their art was found in caves inside mountains near the Sahara. This rock painting depicts a dog leaning on a woman who is breast feeding a child; this is an everyday scene. It was painted using natural pigments either with their finger or a leaf. She is depicted in a silhouette form that came to be popular in African art later down the line.

It was meant to echo the gardens of heaven. The emperor also incorporated the river into his plan, he somewhat changed nature in order to fit his visions.
The Taj Mahal was built in commemoration for his wife but to also show his power and greatness.
Bazeen, an Amazigh dish usually made from barley, is a staple in Libya, and often served for lunch on Fridays. Usually it’s lamb, but there are variations, featuring camel, chicken, squid, or broad beans, and other vegetables. The classic Bazeen is made of a mix of 3 parts barley flour to 1 part wheat flour. They’re boiled in salted water to make a dough that is then formed into a round, smooth ball or dome shape and served with spicy tomato sauce, potatoes, and boiled eggs around it.
Akbar’s Tomb - Southeast Asian/Islam
Delhi, India
1200-1750
There is no dome to this tomb, instead it is just a flat roof. The tomb is located on the upper level. There are many covered pavilions on the site which makes the illusion of the tomb being wall-less. It looks instead like a palace.

- Rumi
درد تو علاخ كس پذيرد، هرگز يا از تو مراد مي گريزد، هرگز گفتي كه نهال صبر در دل كشتي گيرم كه بكاشتم، نگيرد هرگز
Will your pain submit a cure? Never. Or desire ever leave you? Never. The seed of patience is down in the heart , you say. But will it ever sprout? Never.
- Rumi
گر صبر كني پرده صبرت بدريم ور خواب روي خواب ز چشمت ببريم گر كوه شوي در اتشت بگدازيم وربحو شوي تمام أبت بخوريم
However long your patience, I will shred it. If you sleep, I’ll steal the dreams from your eyes. Stand like a mountain, I’ll melt you in fire; Be the sea, and I’ll drink your water dry.
