Miss Mei Fan:

🩹 - Her body language was watched carefully - and its great relief when she could see the other girl relax at the suggestion of a new furry friend. One should never underestimate the power of stuffed animal companionship!

“I think that would be a great idea! I’m sure he’ll love to meet you!” She guessed stocking up on them had been a good idea after all, she had plenty to spare! “I’ll be right back, okay?”

Like many of her spare toys, it’s in a box in her office, so it doesn’t take very long for her to retrieve the white bear, plopping it next to the child on the bed. 

“Here he is - look how happy he is to see you!” 

The girl’s home life and other health problems could be dressed later..for now, what was most important that she got some rest in a place she felt comfortable in. 

The smile didn’t leave her face as Mei Fan returned with the bear, & when she had set it near her, she seemed to light up. She would place her hand on the bear's head, lightly ruffling the bear’s head, “ Hello, Mister White. ”

“ I’m Yui, it’s very nice to meet you! ” She couldn’t help but notice how cute the bear was, before gently placing it in her lap, “ I hope we’ll be able to help each other. ”

Yui had always seen her fellow classmates bringing their stuffed animals to school, rather when they were having a bad day or by request of their teachers, & she had always been jealous of those kids - those kids who’s parents would buy them whatever they wanted. Who seemed to love them without question. Meanwhile, Yui never seemed to be worth something as simple as that. So she couldn’t help but feel happy at the small gesture of being allowed to have the bear - if even for a short time.

Miss Mei Fan:

🩹 - The wince she received wasn’t missed - in hindsight, it reminded her how some of her little sisters back home had reacted to their parents commands. Something she’d always thought of as normal growing up; missing sleep and being push so hard by her parents…it didn’t bother her, but she knew now it certainly wasn’t an attitude for children to have.

“Things to do? You’re here to recover and rest…so rest!” She reached out her hand to give her a light pat on her head, wearing a bright smile to hide the worry she’d need to express later. Now wasn’t the time for questioning.

“Would you like anything to help you fall asleep? A cup of tea? Maybe a bedtime story? Oh! I know! How about a cuddly friend? I’m sure Mr. White would love to have company! He’s a nervous little stuffed bear…so he gets nightmares a lot too sometimes…”

The bright smile given by the nurse seemed to calm her nerves a little, as she listed off different ways to help Yui sleep. Her hands were placed in her lap as the other spoke, linking & unlinking her hands as she tried to feel comfortable. She had a hard time sleeping if she wasn’t after all. The mention of the stuffed bear got her interest, as she always had a fondness of stuffed animals- despite never owning one of her own as her parents refused to buy her anything they saw as a waste of money.

“ Um... I’d be glad to have Mister White’s company... if he’ll have me. ” A small smile was on her face as she spoke, as her hands finally sat still in her lap. “ Maybe we can help each other with our nightmares... ”
