I say, you shouldn’t feel guilty and just do what you love.” She finished off the chocolate, took a sip of her drink to wash down the sweet taste on her mouth and grabbed another piece from the box. “See!” she said, “it was like tempting you. Anyway, you want a drink? Maybe I can get you one?”

“I guess, some are. I just like to try, you know? Giving things a chance isn’t bad, but usually I try not to break anything. Anyways, it’s just temporary. Only until Good Friday.” Cissie shrugged, trying to ignore the fact that her vow towards not eating chocolate had already been broken. “It wasn’t intentional. Plus, it’s Valentine’s day. You can’t have Valentine’s day without chocolate!” She perked at the offer of a drink, a smile blossoming across her features. “Please! I would die for a mimosa or a class of champagne. Anything sweet honestly.”

Cissie scrunched her nose at the comment. What could possibly be wrong with wine? Then again, she had a taste for sweeter drinks where she could barely taste the alcohol. Wine was the only exception to Cissie’s habit of mixed drinks. “Whiskey?” She cringed at the drink and shook her head, giving the male a incredulous look. “How can you drink that? It tastes awful and it’s so, so potent.”

Cissie was certain that Cassie was dead. She couldn’t calm the rapid beating of her heart, nor the anxiety that was caged in the chest. Cissie wasn’t sure how it happened, but she was certain that it was her best friend lying on the ground in front of her, an arrow lodged into her chest. An arrow that belonged to her. A small scream sounded from Cissie’s lips as she felt her legs buckle, staring down at the body that was part of her imagination. 

“Don’t do this to me, Cass. Wake up, wake up. “ A sob escaped past Cissie’s lips as she held her face into her hands. She didn’t notice the smudge of ash on her forehead staining into her hands or the smell of smoke growing heavier. The screams in the background didn’t matter. All that Cissie cared about was her best friend, that she assumed that she had killed. She didn’t know that there Cassie’s body wasn’t there, she was stuck. Never had she killed anyone, but coming close to it once was enough of a fear that was often a nightmare of its own for the ex-hero.

“I’m pretty sure that’s not how it is being celebrate. This is just the Wayne style of doing it.” She answered her while picking up a chocolate from the box although, she was pretty sure her question was rhetorical. She really didn’t know what was the big deal about Valentine’s Day. Apparently, it was about love. With Slade Wilson as a father, she had a twisted idea of what is love. 

“Why would you subject yourself with that kind of suffering?” She said, voice muffled with her mouth full of chocolate. “That’s like me when I told myself I will quit smoking and chocolates are more addicting than nicotine.”

“It sure feels that way. This event is grand and all, great representation, but the day is just... I want to eat chocolate and not feel the guilt of giving up something and still eating it.” 

Cissie shrugged at her question, twirling a tuft of her curled blonde hair. “Because, sometime it’s good to give up the things you want. I tried to give up coffee last year, didn’t even make it off the road before I got a cup.” Cissie responded, nibbling a corner of her piece of chocolate and wrinkling her nose at the taste of the coconut center. “Smoking? Gross. Chocolate is always the answer, plus there’s a really good chocolate store two blocks over.”

valentine’s day;  such a useless holiday.   at least, it’s how conner feels about it.   he isn’t fond of people as it is,  but witnessing pda every five minutes at a public event?  only enrages him more.   blame it on his lack of company during the special night,  but he felt like an avalanche of annoyance had struck him.   “i could murder someone right now…”

Whilst Cissie had retired from wearing a suit and carrying her arrows with her, the mention of murder or crime always had her lifting her head up with curiosity. Just because she was deemed herself as no longer a hero, didn’t mean that she didn’t want to help people out. She just tried to stay away from the public eye. Hearing Connor’s words, caused her to give him a concerned look as she shook her head at him. “You can’t go talking about murdering people so freely,” Cissie spoke softly, slowly pushing an open box of chocolate towards the other. “You can take your anger out on a box of chocolate. The worst harm they can do is melt on your fingers.”

HIS FINGERS TUG at the tie around his neck, frustrated by it as he doesn’t really wear clothes like this ever. Bart feels out of place, but he was just searching the crowd for a familiar face. Which led him into the crowd, the fabric around his neck undone and just resting there untied. He was torn between finding a friend or hiding by the food again. This leaves him bumping into someone, to which he nervously apologizes several times. “I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m sorry!”

Cissie was more than content staying by herself and people watching. She didn’t mind engaging in conversations, however, she also wasn’t willing to share her second box of chocolate. The first was for others, but this one, was reserved for her and only her. She never realized that Bart had shown up, until she felt a body collide with hers and causing the box of sweets to tip slightly in her hands. “No, no, no” She murmurs, as manages to secure the chocolates before they fell. “Bart.” She bites out and shoots him a glare. “Normally, I would accept your apology, but you almost committed the ultimate sin. But I’ll forgive you, just this once.”

jason was actually wearing a tie this evening, if there was one thing he was looking forward to this entire week, it was this ball. of course, over his dead body would he ever admit this to another breathing person, but he held charity events like this close to his heart when orphaned youth were the subject of fundraising. it was a time when the actual good of the city came together at a single event to celebrate and pretend everything was alright, and honestly, it helped jason out.

standing by the bar that was offering free beverages, jason todd stood, holding a cocktail that he would rarely be found holding. he put on the charm for the family’s sake this evening. as he waited for someone to come by, a hand raised to straighten the vigilante’s tie as the other tipped back a cocktail glass into his mouth, letting a warm, burning liquid glide down the back of his throat with a welcomed sigh. 

❛ party actually turned out decently this year. ❛ jason commented as someone finally approached him.

Cissie never minded balls, though she didn’t enjoy being surrounded by people. All the dresses and tuxedos served as a distraction for her. She had just managed to escape from a conversation with some stranger that she didn’t know, though she managed to grace them with a smile and an excuse to leave. 

Honestly, she just wanted a drink and was contemplating drinking the liquor. She wasn’t twenty-one, but that wasn’t her main problem. It was the idea of it being too  early to drink. She didn’t want to be the first to be wasted at a ball. She liked attention, but not the type that people would whisper to others about. Yet, she was feeling parched and it was an open bar. Managing to grab herself a glass of wine, she sipped at it and tried not to cringe at the bitter taste. The cheaper sweeter wines were always better than whatever dry brutality the one she just tasted was. 

Her eyebrow raised at the comment that was made at the male next to her. “It’s alright. If they weren’t the same as every year, I might agree. Except, they need more options of wine. Who thinks that serving dry wine is ever a good idea? I’m thirstier than I was before.”

Cissie never minded events or galas. She loved the way everyone dressed up, how people danced, how there was food, and always a new face to talk to. What she didn’t appreciate was how the Valentine’s Day fell on Wednesday, especially this Wednesday. She had managed to come in a red dress, significant to the color of love (though that reasoning might make her choke on her own tongue), but she also enjoyed the color. It wasn’t because of her old suit that was hidden away in the back of her closet. Yet, she wasn’t so fond of the smudge of ash on her forehead, that she knew was impossible to cover up.

“Someone, anyone, please tell me why Valentine’s Day has to be on Wednesday? A giant event? Lent? And having to give up items I actually care about?” Cissie let out an irritated sigh as she held out her box of chocolate. 

“Want one? I promised myself no drinks or sweets for lent. But it seems, that I failed on the first day. Plus, isn’t the meaning of Valentine’s Day about eating chocolate and pretending to care about significant others?”

TED WAS ALWAYS CAUTIOUS about this sort of thing, as he doesn’t approve of underage drinking, but he supposes there’s a way to figure out if she really was twenty-one or not. “What bar was it? It sounds like you had quote a wild night.” Which he wasn’t going to judge if she was going to do more drinking, but he wants to make sure she’s old enough.

So... Maybe Cissie wasn’t twenty-one. But twenty was sure enough close enough and Cissie always thought that the laws set in place were somewhat dumb. But she also didn’t go to a bar last night. She barely knew the names. Occasionally, she went to a club, but that was to dance her anger away and rarely kiss a boy. “It was,” Her lips pursed together as she tried to think of a name. “You know, I don’t think I can remember the night at all. I must have drank more than I thought. I think it might be three blocks down, maybe four.”

“Aw, c’mon. I figured I could just sneak a quick nap, what’s the problem?” Jaime yawns before lifting his head and looking over at the other properly, a slight grin on his face. “No? Not okay?”

"Up, now.” She didn’t mean the harshness of her words, but she was generally annoyed. She managed to get up from the bench just minutes ago when she thought she saw something from the corner of her eye and wanted to investigate, even if she was no longer a hero. “I may not have carved my name into the bench, but that’s my bench. If you want to nap, you can do it on the ground or find another place to get some shut eye”

a hand raised to cover artemis’ mouth as she feebly attempted to stifle a yawn. no matter what earth she was in, college didn’t get any easier. “there’s not enough caffeine in the world to get me through this neurobiology class.” she stated out loud as she dropped her pen on top of the open book in front of her and let out a sigh accompanied by rolling eyes, taking another sip from her overly sweetened caramel machiatto –– with an extra shot of espresso just to guarantee some slight consciousness as she attempted to work.

Cissie glanced up, already tired of reading through her Organic Chemistry book. “Did you really have to bring up coffee? I would die for coffee.” Cissie huffed bitterly, scrunching her nose at the open book Artemis had. She had actually forgotten to get coffee on her way in and was left with only her water bottle that was covered in stickers she had collected. “I’ll give you five bucks for the remaining cup?”

✦ –– ( Suzanne king-jones ) has arrived in the metropolis of earth 46, and at ( nineteen ) years old, they’re working as a ( student ). you may know them better for their work as ( arrowette ) with the skills of ( archery/acrobatics/ advanced hand to hand combat ). they’ve been spent the last ( month ) here but they’re originally from ( earth one ). rumor has it they’re ( loyal ) && ( rebellious ). Growing up wasn’t something that was easy for Cissie. She felt as if she was forced to be a hero by her mother, though she never exactly saw what was so appealing in putting one’s life in danger. She was constantly scared of getting injured, knowing life threatening incidents couldn’t fatally wound her. 

She never had much of a childhood either. It was either train, watch videos of the Green Arrow and Speedy, or study. Friendship was something that her mother frowned upon. 

However, when she kept up with the training, she found that she did enjoy archery. Especially with the realization that she was better than her mother. 

Cissie ended up getting died up with the Young Justice for a few years, going under the persona of ‘Arrowette’. However, after nearly killing someone, Cissie decided to put down her arrows for good. 

Now, after coming to Earth 46. Cissie isn’t exactly sure what she wants. She wants to be normal. She keeps her gold medal with her from the summer games, however, she isn’t certain if she wants to keep up with being a hero. When she’s alone at night, she finds herself dressing back into her costume, but she isn’t sure what she wants. She doesn’t want to be recognized as a hero and put her life in danger, especially after being injured a few times, but also wants to help this new Earth.

Cissie glanced up at Ted and gave a look of annoyance from pretending to rummage in her  “Hey you, you look like you can help me out. So, there’s a problem. You see, I lost my ID at the bar last night, when I was like, totally plastered. Do you think you can help a girl out and get her a bottle of Rosé? I got the money and all, just a lost ID.”
