Instead of the impossible, I'll need only concern myself with the ordinary. The luxury of waking up in the same bed for two days in a row or being able to reach the next village should I choose. The luxury of sunshine. The luxury of honesty. Tomorrow can be whatever I want it to be, which means that for the first time in decades, I can look forward to it. Instead of something to fear, it can be a promise I make myself. A chance to be braver or kinder, to make what was wrong right. To be better than I am today. Every day after this one is a gift.
When I was growing up, being an introvert was called being shy. The last thing that someone who is introverted ever wants to hear is someone calling them shy in front of strangers. It's an announcement to the world that there's something wrong with you and that you're not like everyone else.
The Plague Doctor claimed Blackheath was meant to rehabilitate us, but bars can't build better men and misery can only break what goodness remains.
You donât know how to love yourself completely, and maybe thatâs why youâre always looking for love from everyone else.
-And if itâs any consolation, I love you enough for the both of us.
-m.t.t.

And sometimes I have kept my feelings to myself, because I could find no language to describe them in.
Jane Austen, Sense and Sensibility (via books-n-quotes)
If something burns your soul with purpose and desire, itâs your duty to be reduced to ashes by it.
Charles Bukowski. (via ignacioararipe)
âThere are people who are always in love with the sky, no matter the weather. One day you will find someone whoâll love you the same way.â
I could make you happy, I could make you love me, I could disappear completely
- hopefully you wouldnât pick the last one (via wealllgoalittlemad)
If you expect nothing from anybody, youâre never disappointed.
Sylvia Plath (via wordsnquotes)
I am both worse and better than you thought.
Sylvia Plath, The Unabridged Journals Of Sylvia Plath (via wordsnquotes)
âI am running away but I prefer to call it a strategic retreat.â
â Tennessee Williams, The Selected Letters: 1920-1945
We all spend our twenties and thirties trying so hard to be perfect, because we're so worried about what people will think of us. Then we get into our forties and fifties, and we finally start to be free, because we decide that we don't give a damn what anyone thinks of us. But you won't be completely free until you reach your sixties and seventies, when you finally realize this liberating truth - nobody was ever thinking about you, anyhow.
from Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert
Sometimes it works. Sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes you have to let it go.
Elizabeth Gilbert from Big Magic
I think perfectionism is just a high-end, haute couture version of fear. I think perfectionism is just fear in fancy shoes and a mink coat, pretending to be elegant when actually it's just terrified. Because underneath that shiny veneer, perfectionism is nothing more than a deep existential angst that says, again and again, 'I am not good enough and I will never be good enough.'
Elizabath Gilbert from Big Magic
I crave a love so deep the ocean would be jealous.
