“Neglect not your time, nor use it haphazardly; on the contrary, you should bring yourself to account. Structure your litanies and other practices during each day and night. This is how to bring about spiritual blessing in each period. If each of your breaths is a priceless jewel, be not like the deceived fools who are joyous because each day their wealth increases while their life grows ever shorter.” Imam Al-Ghazali Plan your day? Account for every minute. One day you'll be 32 and you'll look back at all the years behind you, uncertain of how much time you have left and you'll regret everything you never did, every place you didn't visit, everyone you didn't call. Most of all, you'll regret everything you could have become. My regret is not to have explored art, to have listened to people when they said it wouldn't do me any good. To have forced myself into things that I didn't choose for myself. It's never too late though! Recently started trying to learn arabic calligraphy and digital painting. Recently began trying to plan out my day so I can account for every hour.... But first... Sleep schedule needs fixing! How many if you can relate? 😴 https://www.instagram.com/p/CBMGS_IFtRm/?igshid=j7mal8df3ksd

I went out today and I realized that things have returned to their previous state. The traffic was as it used to be, the crowds in the parks were how I remembered them. People are as irresponsible as ever. With things opening back up, now is the time to be even more careful. This isn't to scare you, or cause you even more anxiety... But to remind you that no matter what we return to - it won't be normal. So please take care of yourself, and no matter how reckless you might want to get - at least think about the ones you come back home to. https://www.instagram.com/p/CAqjFiSFW0t/?igshid=cyl4nfh27kk0

Subhan'Allah, woke up to the devastating news that dozens passed away as a plane crashed into a neighbourhood in Karachi today - killing not only the numerous passengers on board but also the residents of the houses that it crashed into. Inna Lillahi Wa Inna Elaiyhi Rajiyun. To our Creator we belong, and to Him we are bound to return. May Allah give their families sabr, and accept their lost ones as martyrs. Allah knows best, but perhaps the night of decree came with end dates, and these souls have parted and will not see another Ramadan. They were moments away from Eid - in anticipation of celebration, but life proved to be shorter than we can imagine. They were moments away from landing, and heading towards their desired destination - but another destination was calling for them. Let this be a wake up call for all of us. Let us promise ourselves to be kinder, and more connected to those around us. Any of us could depart in any given moment. Let us put aside our differences, and care for one another regardless of caste, creed, or religion. Let us hurt when our neighbours hurt, and find happiness in the smiles of strangers. May this last Friday of Ramadan, leave our hearts softer, kinder and more loving than ever. I pray that Allah keeps you and your loved ones safe. Ameen Ya Rabb'il A'lameen. https://www.instagram.com/p/CAgPbholboC/?igshid=1dc0zgvm3xrip
She struggled with words, But her eyes spoke volumes. When someone speaks your language, you won't have to worry about finding the right words. Communication becomes effortless, it just flows. And I don't mean your local dialect, or the national language, or your secret emoji code. Your soul has a language very few dare to understand, and that's the language of the eyes. It's the language of silence, it's in the actions of a person. You can speak through the way you look at someone. It's much deeper and more meaningful than the language of words. At the end of the day, words are just words... They're empty. They decieve, they're open to interpretation, and misinterpretation. They warrant overthinking, they are sometimes not enough, and sometimes don't even hold the right meaning. But there's a deeper understanding that goes beyond what words could ever portray. It goes beyond emojis, beyond text messages and phone calls. Not everyone speaks your language, but when you find the few who do. You'll never have to explain. Not having to explain yourself is a luxury between two people. You can use all the words in the world, and sometimes a person will never understand despite the effort you put into explaining. With the language of your soul, you won't have to utter a word and your person will know. I hope whomever finds you speaks your language. You say so much, and sometimes nothing at all - but there's a depth in your eyes that demands to be understood, I pray it never goes unnoticed. #ArslanWrites --------- #DaaarlingAnkhonSeAnkhienCharKarneDo #UffUff #AyeHayee #AnkhienHainYaLoudSpeaker #SoMuchShararatInThoseEyes #MennuSharamAndiEh #JustKiddingImKindaBesharam #OhBheiRamzanMienInsanoWaliHashtagLikhLo #AchaSorry #MaafKaroBehen #PleaseMaafMeBro https://www.instagram.com/p/CAdc8jAFjpM/?igshid=swdlfw82jmkx

It's funny, someone reached out to me recently and I don't know if they were genuinely concerned, or thought they were funny because they used a lot of 😜😜😜 at the end of their message. Screenshots are irrelevant, I don't mean to bash on whomever... But I want you take something from it. The gist of the message was, that since I'm a heart broken writer did I miraculously wake up "okay" one day or am I full of shit? Where is all this positivity coming from? (followed by the 😜😜😜) Cute. Lol. That was my response at the time. Can you tell I was annoyed? I was, and rightly so. I don't understand what lil miss cupcake meant. Alhamdulillah I'm okay, and if you're going through something too... There's no iddat period for depression or sadness. You don't have to act a certain way because of a heart break, because you lost your job, because of sibling rivalries that drive you insane, or friends refusing to understand you, or whatever it is that troubles you. Just as it's okay to be not okay, it is okay to be okay too! Does that make sense? You owe it to yourself to keep moving, to go on with life, and try and get back in the hustle. The world doesn't stop, and neither should you. https://www.instagram.com/p/CATdWX5FrPe/?igshid=f6fox8nmye9
Depression is something that is not new to the ummah, or mankind as a whole. It's been around, and isn't something that our generation has invented and inflicted upon itself. It's natural to feel this way. Believe it or not The Prophet sws, also came to a point in his life when he lost all hope. In Surah Hijr it is clear to us that he came to a point where he questioned how he'll ever spread the message when people are trying to kill him, people hold hate against him, and people are mocking him. He was depressed. At that point, Allah gave him advice and said continue what you are doing. You're not meant to stop. In terms of depression, Allah advised: فَاصۡدَعۡ بِمَا تُؤۡمَرُ وَ اَعۡرِضۡ عَنِ الۡمُشۡرِكِيۡنَ (15:94) (O Prophet), proclaim what you are commanded, and pay no heed to those who associate others with Allah in His Divinity. وَلَـقَدۡ نَـعۡلَمُ اَنَّكَ يَضِيۡقُ صَدۡرُكَ بِمَا يَقُوۡلُوۡنَۙ (15:97) We certainly know that their statements sorely grieve you. فَسَبِّحۡ بِحَمۡدِ رَبِّكَ وَكُنۡ مِّنَ السّٰجِدِيۡنَۙ (15:98) When (you feel so) glorify your Lord with His praise and prostrate yourself before Him, وَاعۡبُدۡ رَبَّكَ حَتّٰى يَاۡتِيَكَ الۡيَـقِيۡنُ (15:99) and worship your Lord until the last moment that will most certainly come. What does this mean? Allah advised him to carry on, and make tasbih. What does tasbih do? Subhan'Allah, Alhamdulillah, La Ilaha Ill'Allah, Alla Hu'Akbar, what does it do? It nurtures positivity. Ofcourse at some point depression warrants professional help, but even professionals begin with the basic principle of nurturing positivity. A professional will give you exercises to help you believe in, and nurture positive vibes. They'll say repeat after me, "I am a good person, I deserve happiness, I am greater than what brings me down." Etc. Positive vibes and thoughts nurture positivity which is the initial steps to recovery. Instead of glorifying himself as a person, Allah reminded Rasool Allah sws to glorify his Lord. He didn't say go pray, wake up for Tahajjud, because that comes after... He said, start with being strong and carry on, while you "praise your Lord" and have sabr. https://www.instagram.com/p/CATATtCF3pA/?igshid=14lzyejkdrldw
