The official final result!
For my final project, I had to make a teaser for my art work. This is what I made.
Enjoy!
During class, I already knew I wanted to make a photo similar to this one. All I had to do, was make the poster. I took a piece of wood, hammered two nails through it and put the rope around it to create a ‘z’. Afterwards, I uploaded the photo to my computer, added ‘generation’ and the information that was necessary, such as the location of the exposition and at what time it would start.
The end.
This is my poster for the art exposition. For privacy reasons, I covered up the location of the exposition.
This is my process during the making of my flyer for the art exposition.
I started with the background. I painted this picture a long time ago and this was basically the start of my whole project. I knew I needed to put some text on top of it and I wanted it to be legible, so I put some squares and triangles on top of the picture and changed the transparency. I liked the idea, but the end result wasn’t really up to par. This is why I changed the shapes and colours as well as the font of the text. After I finished the front, the backside of the flyer was quickly made.
The end result can be seen in my last post.
For the art exposition, which I have mentioned before, we had to make a flyer. This is my flyer for my art piece.
Under Pressure
I have shown a lot of drawings over the past few months, but I haven't told you guys about the project itself. As a group, we chose the subject 'Generation Z', because we are all from that generation. What we had to make was all up to ourselves.
I got inspired by the Rorschach tests.
The Rorschach tests are as followed:
A psychologist shows their patient a series of pictures which look like the picture above. The patient will tell the psychologist what they see and with that information, the psychologist can tell if the patient has something psychological, such as phobias or anxieties.
Generation Z is known for having psychological difficulties. We have a high percentage of people with anxiety or depression. I chose to focus my project on that fact.
I took a piece of an old ladder that has been in the family for years. In the spaces between each ‘rod’ I measured the spaces. On a special type of paper, which I could make nearly transparent with some oil, I made several drawings which I would hang in these measured spaces.
This might sound very strange, so let me explain it.
Generation Z feels a lot of pressure and scientists say that the biggest cause of this pressure are the parents. The older generation. This is why I chose the ladder as the base for my piece. This would be the part of the piece that would put pressure on ‘generation z’. Similar to how the millennials have millennial pink, generation z apparently has a special type of yellow as its colour. I thought this was great to use in my project.
This all, however, seemed too simple to me, so I added something to the mix. I wanted to show parents, which there will be enough of at the art exposition, that they can see how we feel as long as they would ‘turn on the light’ so to speak. I took this very literally and put two layers in each measured space of the ladder. A sheet of paper with the yellow drawings would be in front and with the black drawings would be behind it. A lamp would also be placed behind the piece. As soon as the parents or the teachers would turn on the light, they would find out how we feel.
Though I would love to show you, the reader, what my piece looks like, I would like to keep that as a surprise until the art exposition. The pictures I could take right now, wouldn’t do it justice.
Stay tuned and the final result will be put online before you know it.
