i rushed through the beginning dialogue. wanted to get right to the action, you know?
yeah chains is a killing machine. so he knows how to kill quickly. however. he is not in a rush. he can afford to toy with his prey. he can drag it out.
also i used ACL because saying Conspiracy Guy over and over would murder the mood (curse of stupid-ass names). i did this for my other stuff too i just didnt bother changing ACL to Conspiracy Guy in the AO3 release
"are you going to just tear into me, like some sort of wild animal?" "maybe i am" at one point i wanted chainsaw to bite into his throat. this is leftovers from that

CHAPTER 2: DAY 2+3.

Day 2 was originally meant to be from sidekick's pov. but then i decided to Make Chainsaw Think.
[constant yapping] - imagine if you will acl going over the plan, then asking chainsaw for his thoughts on it, and chainsaw responding with something like "i couldnt tell what part of your yapping was supposed to be the actual plan"
the "he wanted..." part is a surprise tool that will help us later~
day 3 has some details on the ship life. by which i mean scheduled breakfast lunch and dinner. without them, they could avoid eachother altogether, if they were (un)lucky enough. plus think of the cafeteria workers who'd have to be at their beck and call 24/7 were it not for the schedule
avoidance <3 (acl noticed him entering and leaving.)
SIDEKICK APPEARANCE. "he really really wanted to make sure you got the plan just in case"+"he had some real important stuff to do" <- lying

CHAPTER 3: DAY 4 (Tomorrow, His Room, Same Time).

i realized i was NOT skilled enough to gracefully handle the possibility of chains having internalized homophobia, so it didnt make it in. went for hangups over the Wants And Desires thing instead
i cut some parts out because chainsaw was enjoying the wound thing too much lmao
CHAPTER 4: DAY 5 (Chainsaw's POV).

wanting inner monologue~ he's not supposed to want, yet he does. he cannot help it.
"either you want this to continue or you don't" - he's not interested in a job half-done. what's the point of chainsaw doing (gestures at day 4) all that if they're not having fun, right?

CHAPTER 5: DAY 5 (ACL's POV).

estabilishing his connection with sidekick this chapter. daily morning greetings, all a part of the routine
"hm..." "what is it?" "oh, nothing!" - sidekick thinking abt his immortality
yoinking this from my dms: The south section of the ship represents Conspiracy Guy. because hes the driving force behind the plan (like the engines) but hed get nowhere without resources (fuel) and help from a group of people (maintenance). sidekick can be the newer patch of metal idk
sidekick is being cuter with acl because they actually like him lol
[he could probably borrow something from them later. write down a note and store it somewhere] - this is actually a secret reference to acl's memento room from his flat plans that didnt make it into warmer out (slash silly)
the "he wanted..." part is back~ parallels, parallels
unfortunately replicating that feeling was always gonna be a two-man job. the shower thing is a band-aid solution
CHAPTER 6: DAY 6 (Sidekick's Here Now).
Draft names: stupid sequel sidekicks here now, stupid sequel sidekicks here now ft. dinner dialogue
unlike grandpa (acl), they still have some whimsy left in their heart, as seen by the. multicolored (cut info: rainbow) socks
decided to play with the 4th wall re: sponsor reads.
their Nefarious And Evil Plan. which involves... getting acl to sleep. this was a way to get them into acl's room and let them discover the knife on their own. [the safety of his hug] vs. the knife serving as a sort of threat that could take that safety (and comfort!) away.
flashback: theyre trying to be cheeky with the grapevine thing. acl's reaction was a bit unexpected, and his attempts at comfort could sound slightly concerning. "don't worry about it"/"it's true, but i'm not going into any more detail than that"/"everything's alright, i'm fine"/"it happened and that's that". could be true. But Could Also Be Him Putting Up A Front. they went with the former option before they found the knife. acl's reasoning for the comfort attempts being the way that they are is "they don't need to know about their caretaker's sexual encounters"
one thing about the sidekick in this fic is that as you can see they are afraid. afraid of losing their one and only consistent source of safety, comfort, and warmth. they were an orphan before they got picked up by acl. their parents probably weren't very alive by the time that happened. anyway i like the dagger scene i freaking cooked there
yoinking this from the dms again: during dinner and the confrontation id imagine acl's thought process being like "why does their gaze look... kinda hollow? maybe i should check in later?"/"oh they want to go to my room? ...sure?"/"why are they just staring at me like that"/"OHGODOHSHITOHFUCK THEY FOUND THE DAGGER"/"WAIT THEY'RE CRYING I'VE GOT TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT"/".....how do i even explain it"/"if they end up having nightmares after this it'd be easier to just be nearby already"
they have some hangups and magical thinking re: acknowledging things out loud. acknowledging the good means it could be taken away faster, acknowledging the possibility of something bad meaning it could occur at a higher chance. something of the sort.
CHAPTER 7: DAY 7 (And Now, Back To Chainsaw).

Sidekick Is Being Overprotective. the worst case scenario is still somewhere in the back of their mind.

i thought putting in something about him fumbling with his shirt buttons would be a nice detail. the federation's dress code doesn't take one-handed people into consideration, i suppose. plus it's an opportunity for acl to help. showing more intimacy
"just don't ogle my scars too much while you're at it" "no promises~" <- HOLY SHIT SECRET SLOTASLOTB REFERENC- just kidding they aren't related

i tried to write out how day 10 would go from acl's pov, but i didnt get anywhere lol. also taking this time to estabilish that Sidekick Can Be Competent. they just need plan notes.
"i'm not planning on dying, or leaving you and the conspiracy behind" Meanwhile Days 11 + 12: nowhere to be seen
i think i actually had a similar chainspiracy idea since a whiiiiile back. just, acl running himself into the ground, one of his subordinates nagging chainsaw to check on him, and chains showing an oddly large amount of care for him. though it was without any buildup of teethflesh
manhandling acl is always morally correct <3
got the idea for this chapter from listening to French And Tired and latching on to the "and i have not been to bed in seventeen days" lyric xD
CHAPTER 11: DAY 13.

plotting together~ family bonding time (lol)
at one point while writing it, i noticed a pattern. which was, acl and chainsaw screwing eachother at an interval of [times they've fucked]+2. day1+3>day4+4>day8. so i decided to switch it up a little. also, acl objectifying chainsaw~ testing the waters to see how he reacts to him offering warmth and gentleness
yoinked from dms because i didnt know where else to put this: for acl to start considering liking chainsaw he'd need to see chainsaw as more of a person than a living weapon/object of desire and. im not sure how im gonna make that part happen. Maybe I Don't Need To Make It Happen, Actually. [...] its like, keeping chainsaw on a short leash. not giving him all he wants so he'll come back for more, while also making other options less appealing for him in one way or another. going the puppet president route. chainsaw would be incompetent on his own imo. he would need someone from the conspiracy to give advice on what to do, right? so thats one way to keep him under control. going the megacorp mercenary route. is getting away from acl's grasp. unless they somehow see eachother again. going the secret third "post-election failure, somehow sneaking on the ship the ancient conspiracy was getting away from the federation on +having to choose between joining the conspiracy or dying" route, haha. well. could acl not use himself as leverage to make chainsaw follow his orders in the future? would it be transactional absolutely would it be better treatment than in the federation yeah probably
CHAPTER 12: DAY 14.

...i ran out of padding, so the night part takes like half the chapter. it is, partially, self-indulgent bullshit, and partially "if i have to write chainsaw being the penetrating one again im gonna go penetrate myself with a sword" <- not serious
calling chains a good boy - the chainsaw-dog comparisons live on. yoinked the "who's the weak and girly one now" line from lint <3 he was kinder in the original draft lol
acl's actually prepared. by being the opposite of the situation in slotaslotb, this becomes an indirect reference to it (/silly)
"would be a shame if someone else saw us like this, right?" - This Is Actually A Reference To One Of Lint's Posts About Dustbun And Knives Seeing Chainspiracy Happen (/silly2).
i feel like if sidekick walked by and saw them there'd be more concerns abt the three of them violating curfew by staying up late. and also sidekick would just close the door and message acl abt it later
This Also Parallels That Night, though with "the looker" and "the one being looked at" roles being reversed lol
acl is being deliberate with the hickey placement. can't cover it up that easily near the top of the neck as opposed to the collar. could cause some gossip to stir up hehe
CHAPTER 13: DAY 17.

i ran out of padding again. timeskip.
tried to write the "acl struck with grief" thing. didnt work out. decided to shove it into recollection material.
chainsaw's got the cold shoulder for days 15, 16 and most of 17 every time he tried to reach out or stay with him, with acl acting colder and avoiding him. contrasting with the day13+14 treatment. and then sidekick hits him with the "i think you should leave him be! ^_^"
him getting violent wasnt in the first draft of this chapter, but without the violence i couldnt have finished it i think. Deus Ex Tranquilizer
acl did actually fuck up with taking off the prosthetic, but chainsaw wont find out until chapter 15. also, rope burn.
"one of my underlings" - a way to say that this isn't just because chainsaw tried to attack sidekick SPECIFICALLY, this is because he tried to attack someone from the conspiracy in general
you have been spared from another Chainsaw Being A Freak moment by the virtue of it being in acl's pov. if it were chainsaw or sidekick's one of them would have noticed.

the first version of the outline for it was written on the same day i started writing day 11, apparently
timeskip again. i was not up to writing another week.
sometimes to move the plot along you have to have something absolutely freaking stupid happen. this is the role of the convenient crate.
[grab the future by the throat] - originally i was unsure what to put here. fate and destiny seemed like sidekick's hangups rather than chainsaw's, so. future it was
that speaking weapon was a cursed demon blade <3 "why not just put a cursed weapon on the ship" <- my thought process
death threats... acl shouldve mentioned fighting from the start lol. getting up close and personal with his prey constricted like that... like some sorta snake <- what
yoinked from dms: on one paw it would be a cause of concern that acl would be so willing to kill him, as if *gestures at the fic events* all that didnt mean anything to him, but on the other paw. perhaps chains did miss the warmth they shared. and acl *was* offering a way to get it back. chains thinks he doesnt give a damn anymore but when both of them are alone (when chainsaw is tied to a chair mind you) and acl gets up close and personal (with the knife) the feelings fade back in

when i drew her, i was mainly thinking of some sort of a mean girl-type character. rich, spoiled, attention-seeking, that type of thing.
The Initial Idea, from a convo with Lint.
she's, like, twenty, i think. didn't really mature much past highschool. general chainsaw's daughter.
while he was off fighting in some war (as a soldier) for the federation, her mother was busy cooking, cleaning, and working odd jobs to keep the family afloat (i dont think his paycheck alone would be enough to support them back then). as a result, blondie ended up feeling ignored in her earlier stages of life, and when the situation improved she was already trying to get people's attention and to be a social butterfly in school, hanging out with friends instead of spending time at home (boooring!!!).
she befriended mary sue (the eternal center of attention) and not-sue (playing off of contrasts) during that time, along with a couple of other girls. they have A Groupchat.
she doesn't know her parents are divorced.
she was too young and oblivious when it happened. didn't put the signs together, if there even were any. her mother didn't tell her.
yearly christmas dinners have gotten quite awkward as of late, but she's still somewhat excited to see her dad back in the family again.
she likes gossip. rumors are interesting and entertaining enough, and she wants to know everything about everyone.
she can play nice, if she wants to. if you're feeling down (and she's friends with you), she's taking you to the mall. you can't refuse ^_^
she walks around like she owns the place; slamming a door open means people pay attention to the source of the noise, even if for just a moment.
