I have blotted out your transgressions like a cloud
and your sins like mist;
return to me, for I have redeemed you.
Isaiah 44:22
“As health comes from bitter medicine, so too does salvation of souls come from bitter experience.”
“So in every tribulation, let us say, ‘Thank you, my God, because this was needed for my salvation.’”
+ St. Paisios the Athonite
For love to grow, it must be given. A person who does not give even the little love that he has is like a foolish farmer who clenches a handful of seeds, unwilling to sow them, and yet expects a harvest.
☦︎ Saint Paisios of Mount Athos
"He who asks for humility from God, but does not accept the person God sends him to humble him, does not know what he is asking for, because virtues are not bought by shopping at the grocery store, but God sends us people to test us, to work, to acquire it and to be crowned.”

Jesus Carrying the Cross
Artist: Charles Le Brun (French, 1619-1690)
Date: 1688
Medium: Oil on canvas
Collection: Louvre Museum, Paris, France
Description
Le Brun indeed depicts the moment when Christ collapses under the weight of the Cross, while the executioners point to Simon of Cyrene, in the foreground on the left, to carry the Cross in its place. The procession has just left Jerusalem, one of whose gates is depicted on the right, and is heading towards Mount Golgotha on the left. Le Brun closes the composition with the monumental arch of an aqueduct and a rocky prominence. Le Brun paints the climax of the drama, the fall of Christ.
