kicking off the new year with a new painting series: inappropriately named plants !! all based on a mug my mom got me, first up is the knobweed aka hyptis capitata or false ironwort. it’s native to Florida, Mexico, Central America, the West Indies, and South America but naturalized in Australia, Southeast Asia, and some tropical islands. crushed leaves can be applied to cuts, but it’s often considered a weed.
