some people think writers are so eloquent and good with words, but the reality is that we can sit there with our fingers on the keyboard going, “what’s the word for non-sunlight lighting? Like, fake lighting?” and for ten minutes, all our brain will supply is “unofficial”, and we know that’s not the right word, but it’s the only word we can come up with…until finally it’s like our face got smashed into a brick wall and we remember the word we want is “artificial”.
Why is it that whenever there’s a wlw ship, it’s always the same two people in slightly different fonts?
On the left of each we have the dumbass jock, and on the right the often wealthy book and/or street smart gf who’s always 1000 gayer than their significant other.
And why is the dumbass one ALWAYS the main character? It doesn’t even matter if it’s canon or not. Like how did that happen?

My gay agenda: kpdh superman AU—BUT, specifically ‘my adventures’ AU, because that show got *the boy* so right and just like Rumi can fit so much self-doubt in there! (I lied about the vine thing, THIS is the silliest goofiest offering to the fandom I have)
But between MAWS and the Superman 2025 movie, I've had this on the brain UwU cause I was thinking about how much parallel there can be between Rumi and Clark. Then Mira and Zoey could work so well as Rumi's Lois & Jimmy and I spiraled.
|In the style of an old school radio host| After a mysterious super-woman saved the Daily Planet's trio of interns from rogue military weaponry, investigative journalist in the making Mira Lane-Hong is determined to find all the secrets of 'Superwoman', with the help of Zoey Yoo and Rumi Ryu! Hijinks ensue! Rumi is actively having to work to not let her girlfriends run into hostage situations.
MAWS AU, essentially (with some adjusting to the storyline for character and ship stuff) for reference:
Rumi- Clark Kent/Superman
Zoey-Jimmy Olsen
Mira- Lois Lane
Celine & Mi-Yeong- The Kents (also fuck it, we can throw the 3rd sunlight sister in there too! Rumi grows up with 3 moms!)
Bobby- Special Case (Bobby is essentially becoming a new character, bc this is Bobby we’re talking about. Iconic, dad-shaped, supportive Bobby, so he gets to be a lil more involved with the story than the canonical supporting ensemble)
Gwi-Ma & Jinu- season 2(?) 👀
I’d also just 100% recommend the show too, this take on Lois Lane is unhinged and she’s perfect. Clark in this canon is just, big puppy/wet cat energy, 3/3 on saving people with hugs!
Clark in MAWS s1 keeps circling back to the question of who he is. All he wants to do is help in anyway he can. But he doesn’t really know where he’s from or what his powers come from, nor why he has them or was sent to Earth, and he's scared of being a weapon.

So! Baby Rumi, she’s shuttled away to safety from a 'dying' Krypton and crash lands on Earth onto the Ryu farm—I’m giving Rumi a supportive family dynamic here, she’ll get put in the blender later—Mi-Yeong is alive! Celine is her wife! They are farmers! Rumi is a certified farm boy with a farmer's sleeper build who's passionate about agriculture!
Baby Rumi grows up! -insert hinky power discovery and a spooky spaceship encounter- She’s off to college and rooming with Zoey, the two staying together after graduation when they both get internships at the Daily Planet in Metropolis!
Rumi is terrified of being perceived as ‘other’ by the people she really cares about, and that changing how people see and feel about her—most of all she doesn’t want anyone to be afraid of her and she doesn’t want to hurt anyone if she can help it, she's got to be so deliberate and in control of her powers or else she could hurt/kill someone on accident.
So she hides her identity as Superwoman from her girls because she just wants to be seen as Rumi and hasn't fully accepted that the Kryptonian part is also part of her. When she starts acting as Superwoman, it's because for her at the beginning she's not 'Rumi Ryu, average woman' who can fly; she's Superwoman who can fly, and that's not weird or strange for her.
Admittedly it's a bit hard to keep an ID a secret when your partners are extremely observant, one is a (supported by the narrative) conspiracy theorist, and one is a future multi-award winning investigative journalist... or when the US military complex is hunting you down because they think you're going to be the catalyst of an invasion. It's also hard when you canonically are a bad liar! Rumi goes out for bagels 5x a day average, never comes back with one and is beat to shit for some reason!
Going into the powers of it all. MAWS' specific way of Supes unlocking more powers is very much anime power-up style, complete with glowy eyes. The show is very anime in a really fun sincere way
I want to keep Rumi's patterns in some manner, so I don't think they're fully visible all the time, but as she uses more power and absorbs more sunlight they get more prominent and iridescent and her eyes change as well.
In 'power-ups' they spread and get bright when she develops more powers. So instead of external crackling power like in above gif, it's internal and spreads across Rumi's skin for a period of time.
Exposure to kryptonite causes them to turn green/purple/black.
I've got an unnecessary amount of extra thoughts about this AU, and just needed to throw this into the void in hopes y'all see the vision. But hope it's an enjoyable little concept for everyone else too.
