I’m alone, scared, and trying to find my way back to you..

I can make sillier faces.
Dont worry, I’m watching over you, bubba.
“I- I’ll try,” he said, though he knew it wasn’t much of a promise. He brushed at her hair, trying to keep her calm, to keep her here a little longer. He didn’t want to let go. He couldn’t. He couldn’t lose her, she was his world. “Artemis, I love you, okay? I love you so much, I’m so proud of you. You always were the better one, even if I never admitted it.”
She knew he could do it, Artemis was no longer a distraction to him. Now that he was done trying to protect her, he could focus on himself and get himself out of the games. “I-I love you, too. Y-you’re the best b-big brother, you k-know that? I-I h-have no idea what I would o-of done without you.” The blonde reached up and stroked his cheek for a second, letting out a small smile before putting her hand back down. “I think this proves who’s the best.” She whipsered softly before closing her eyes. Artemis felt relaxed, almost too relaxed. But this was how it needed to be, she could never live without her brother, she’d be too much of a mess. Now being in her brother’s arms, she wasnt afraid of death, she knew she would be okay on the other side, Atlas was waiting for her. And with that, Artemis took her last breath, her head falling to the side and she was gone.
“I know,” he whispered, “I know it hurts, stay with me Artemis. Just take a breath, relax, it’s okay. You’re gonna- gonna be okay.” It was a lie and he knew it. But what could he do? He grabbed her hand, squeezing it tight, pulling her head into his lap. “Just focus on me, okay? You’re fine. It’s- it’s not even bad.”
Artemis shook her head, trying to take in a deep breath but failed. She was so scared. “You’re a-an idiot.” The blonde whispered, letting out a sob. “I’m not going to be okay, I wont. I-it hurts so bad, I want it to stop.” Artemis whispered, relaxing slightly as her hand was in her brother’s and her head was rested on his lap. “I cant..” She said closing her eyes, breathing hard. As scared as she was, she wanted it to end. “Y-you have to win.. k-kill everyone.”
He ripped away the monster’s body from Artemis, kneeling down at her side, starting to put pressure on her wounds in a panic. “Artemis?” he cried in panic, tears already starting to burn in his eyes. “Artemis look at me, please look at me.”
Artemis felt so much pain. She felt pain back home when she failed a fight or fell while climbing, but none of that matched this kind of pain. Feeling the pressure on her wound, the girl groaned and closed her eyes tighter. Hearing her brother’s voice gave her motivation to try and stay awake. Slowly, she opened her eyes and looked at Apollo, her eyes filled with tears. “It hurts..” She whispered, arching her back slightly.
The monster screamed and dug its nails in further. The arrows hit it, but it heald on.
Apollo dropped the bow to the side, not caring as he whipped out one of the three throwing knives he had left, going straight for not-Bird. He dug the knife into what he hoped was her throat, but it was proving difficult to see in the tangle of limbs and colors in the near darkness.
Artemis screamed louder as she felt the nails deeper into her back. She curled her fingers under, trying to grip on to something but there was nothing around her. Her whole body felt exhausted, she could hardly move, her breathing was heavy and there was blood everywhere. Artemis didnt know how much longer she would make it and she hoped it wouldnt be long as all. “Apollo..” She mumbled, eyelids falling shut, almost unconscious.
The monster rolled away when the blond boy kicked her. But it was still hungry. It scrambled back and sank its claws into the girl’s back.
He whipped out the bow that was sent to him, firing three arrows straight at Bird in close range. “Get the fuck off her!” he snarled, kicking at her again, panic taking over. Blood. There was blood everywhere, he heard Artemis screaming. And this time it was real.
The feeling of the claws in Artemis’ back hurt, but she could hardly noticed it. There was so much pain on her arm and fear everywhere else, it was like it was impossible to feel pain anywhere else. She tried taking in deep breaths, trying to calm down even when the girl was on her but it was helping. Struggling under her, the girl let out another scream. This was torture, she just wanted it to be done. “Get her off of me or kill me!” Artemis screamed to Apollo, though her voice was very airy and somewhat difficult to understand.
The thing took a bite out of the girl’s arm. It was delicious.
Apollo screamed, trying to kick bird out of the way, putting himself between Bird and Artemis. “Leave her alone!”
Artemis screamed at the feeling of having her skin bit into and ripped off. The pain was unbearable and blood was pouring down her arms. She knew she seemed weak but she was crying, still trying to get free. The blonde already felt exhausted. Artemis got out of Bird’s grip and fell backwards on to the ground, placing a hand over her missing flesh, trying to slow the bleeding down even a little. She was curled up and screaming in pain.
Suddenly, the girl was closer. Her back was turned too. Bird lunged forward, faster than she ever had in life, and reached out to grab her.
“No!” Apollo yelled as Bird’s hand closed on Artemis’ back, and he started pulling Artemis out of the way, trying to get her clear out of the way and behind him.
Artemis suddenly she felt hands on her back, causing her to scream. She knew they needed to get out of there. Quickly, the girl began struggling and even with the pull of Apollo, she still couldnt break lose from the girl’s grip. “Let me go!”
“I’m scared too.” Said the monster. She took another few steps forward. In about ten more steps, she would be close enough. The boy looked like more of a threat, so she would take him out first. Then the girl.
He started to go with her, but he hung behind, unable to tear his eyes away from her. She was scared. She was scared. He felt obligated to help.
“Apollo!” Artemis screamed, getting mad. She wanted out of here and far away. She moved in front of Apollo and had her back turned to Bird, fairly close to her. “Go! We have to get out of here!” Artemis yelled in his face, trying to push him away.
Atlas dropped himself to the floor. He didn’t feel pain anyway. He just stared up at the sky, and Artemis. If he was able to cry, he would have done it at that moment. The worst part was not being able to talk. To tell her that he loved her, to feel love again. To kiss her lips. he just stared up at her, not knowing what to do.
Artemis crouched down and grabbed his hands, looking at him. “You’re okay, Atlas. I’m going to go get medicine and some bandage. I will be right back, please dont leave.” She whispered before kiss his knuckles, still smiling slightly. “I love you, I’ll be right back.” Artemis told him and stood up, walking away.
Atlas looked Artemis in her eyes. Afraid to kiss her. He was dead, and now he knew. “M-My family. Yo- You cant see me L-like this.” He mumbled. He looked at his body, getting into a mental shock. “I-I’m dead.”
Artemis didnt know what to do anymore. She couldnt kill Atlas, she fused to. Dead or not, she could never hurt him. “Atlas, please.. Just sit down, okay? Sit down and just rest, you need to calm down, they wont want to see you upset.”
Atlas was doing what Artemis told him not to. He looked down, under his shirt where his bones were still sticking out, and at his arm, which still had the affull twirl in it. He looked with big eyes. “K-K-kill me.” He mumbled.
“Atlas...” She whispered sadly, pulling his hand away from his shirt and using his chin to make him look at her. “I’m not going to kill you. You’re fine, I promise. Things are scary, they are scary for everyone. You need to stay calm, please.” She told him again, her lips inches from his.
Atlas’ eyes got big. He looked down, and noticed his crushed body. He felt cold, and stiff. “I-I-I’m dead.”
“Shhh.” Artemis placed both hands on his cheeks, looking up at him. “Atlas, it’s okay. I know it’s scary but dont freak out..”
Atlas eyes became big when she touvhed his cheek. That feeling. He suddenly remembered something again. He didn’t hear anything of what Artemis said as he stared into the wall behind Artemis, facinated by the memory for a view seconds. He looked at Artemis. “I’-I’m not the same.”
Artemis looked at the male and smiled at him and shook her head. “You may be a little different, Atlas, but that’s okay. No matter what, you are you, and I’ll always love you, okay?” She told him, stroking his cheek lightly. “Just stay right here, okay?”
