— Hello internet!
hello! I am Arterra…or Conan I guess…I saw a lot of the others make tumblr accounts and thought I’d try a claw at it. I am a rookie hero at SDN in the ‘Phoenix Program’! I really like dinosaurs and building stuff!!!
Please don’t tell Ms. Blazer I take material for my projects from the SDN wastebins…
I may not be the best at hero-ing but I am trying my best! thank you for your time, internet :)
I also really like figuring out new tech and fixing things! If anything needs a repair or maybe an upgrade I’d be very happy to try to help! I just…can’t guarantee anything perfect…

— Please no sexual/hard NSFW stuff! Mod is a minor and character is 19.
— Any interaction otherwise welcome and appreciated.
— I end OOC(out-of-character) posts with ‘//‘.
— Mod has severe anxiety and also gets burnt out easily, apologies if I take a while to respond to something.
— I had archaeopteryx-fighter as a placeholder name and I thought it was utterly hilarious. This is pointless information I just wanted to say
— Does not follow back until I figure out how people follow/like on side blogs…
[more about the character + OOC under cut, visual reference at bottom]
— ABOUT THE CHARACTER
sorry in advance for the length I got carried away. love you Arterra
— PERSONALITY
Conan(alias ‘Arterra’) is very energetic a good portion of the time and comes off as rather, if not overly, polite. He has a tendency to ‘admire’ a lot of the other Phoenix Programmers(?? do we have a word for this) when he probably shouldn’t…simply because they look cool or seem cool to him. He does not possess powers, but is highly intelligent and resourceful—which, if anything, his intelligence is his power if that counts. He may come off as childish, but that is mostly unintentional—he hates being patronized. He often displays more ‘canine’ or generally animalistic/feral tendencies, often behavioral but also in the sense that he may vocalize as such(purr/chirp/growl). Despite his record, he is rather friendly and eager to do good. That is not to say he is incapable of being serious or threatening when need be. He is far from naive, despite how he may come off as. Gold-hearted perhaps, but not naive. He is, however, fiercely loyal.
— HISTORY
Arterra is a builder and inventor by nature and, in turn, built himself a minor reputation over building weapons. In return for funding for his projects (along with basic needs and medication), he often built gear, enhancements, and/or weapons for others, primarily vigilante-types or fellow criminals he believed wouldn’t hurt people as much as others—blinded by excitement or desperation, he occasionally may have aided the wrong people, something he’ll forever be guilty for. A lack of a support system in general was a key factor in his turn to darker sides of Los Angeles for aid; being told he doesn’t know what he’s doing or that his work isn’t worth much is something Arterra is rather familiar with, as well as being alone, the former giving him a deep rooted need to be taken at least some semblance of seriously, not like…not like his work is a mere science fair project. He takes his engineering and work quite seriously, and has a tendency to hyperfocus, contributing to his…potentially unhealthy habits(this boy needs a nap…).
Arterra also engaged in acts of vigilantism, an attempt at using his love of engineering for good(he built all his gear and suit!) and an attempt at making Los Angeles safer. Of course, despite his best efforts, this didn’t always go well—and, regardless of how good-intentioned, vigilantism is still a severe criminal offense.
But he wants to be better in the Phoenix Program. He does.
criminal record: trespassing, theft, vandalism, disorderly conduct(<- this one was not his fault, but he was charged anyway), criminal possession of a weapon, unlicensed manufacturing of firearms, vigilantism, assault
— ADDITIONAL / TRIVIA
- the name Arterra(art+terra(earth)) might not make sense at first considering he’s a tech guy, but it’s mostly related to the fact he often takes inspiration from dinosaurs/nature/etc for his engineering.
- 19, as of current. May be changed, I’m not quite sure.
- Formal education up to high school/12th grade, could not do university/college for financial reasons but deeply wanted to.
- Mostly learned engineering from trial and error and textbooks he could get his hands on, along with whatever classes he could take in high school. Graduated high school with a 3.8 weighted GPA, the only reason it wasn’t a 4.0 being his tendency to zone out.
- On the note of textbooks, he’s been trying to obtain an inexpensive auto repair textbook/guide/manual if anyone wants to do anything with that information! He’s very excited about the topic. That, and aerospace engineering.
- He didn’t have a lot of friends in school, social cues really aren’t his strong suit and he gets anxious around new people so making friends wasn’t very easy for him. Likely factors into how energetic and polite he is with people within SDN.
- Undiagnosed ADHD + PTSD, diagnosed GAD(Generalized Anxiety Disorder) — Arterra can be very hypervigilant and almost always if not always anxious about something. If asked he’d not know the root of his PTSD, his memory is very blurry and it is too distressing for him to actively try to probe at it, and he’d also outright deny its existence.
- He does NOT have a filter, likely due to neurodiversity. I, as the mod, also often struggle with maintaining filter conveniently(?).
- Very low self-esteem and self-worth, self-worth tied to his usefulness. Harsh on himself for mistakes or failure, even if it seems insignificant.
- randomly and very often is in fluctuating amounts of pain. (“That’s…not…normal? I thought everyone had that…”)
- trans male, asexual aromantic, mlm? — guy DEFINITELY diy-ed his top surgery don’t do that
- Very high pain tolerance, also often tries to brush off major injuries even if he does feel them.
- he likes drawing! he’ll often draw fellow heroes/teammates, animals, random other folks, etc. he occasionally even brings his sketchbook on missions/calls in case he finds good drawing material.
- he’s slightly underweight(unintentional on his part, likely a hyperfocus side effect), roughly 5’5 in height
- dinosaurs and paleontology in general are his favorite thing ever!!! he could go on for hours. Same with engineering/mechanic shit but to a lesser degree. He has a tendency to infodump and feels unnecessarily guilty when he realizes.
- the inspiration for his suit is taken primarily from Kentrosaurus and Saichania
— OOC
Howdy! I go by Astro or Wolfe.
- Mod(is mod the right word?) uses he/it pronouns with no particular preference. I am also a minor(late teens) so please don’t be too NSFW in asks and such! Also I have a fluctuating southern accent I type in sometimes so sorry if it slips out lmao, if it does know Arterra isn’t supposed to have an accent.
- I have severe anxiety(roleplay blogs such as this one are partially being done to help with this for me actually! they are also very fun) so my apologies if I take a while to reply to something or come off as awkward.
- IRL paleontology nerd. Be warned. May or may not slightly use this as an outlet for my love to dinosaurs I am so sorry
- Arterra was NOT meant to be a self insert in any capacity but I fear he is a little bit just me. Trans male aroace neurodivergent dinosaur nerd with chronic pain who likes engineering and drawing. Shit. Anyway
Highkey was planning on making him diabetic too because it would factor more into his getting funds with illegal weapons manufacturing thing because insulin costs are fucked up but I realized that MAY cut too close to actually me. May still make him T1D(I am) I’m not sure.
do you ever just wanna dig around in a machine’s insides…like woaah all that wiring is so cool…all those gears and circuitry and shit…
I should be allowed to near machines more…

Well first of all, that sounds sick as fuck. Congratulations(?) to you and your girlfriend.
But no, I am…more so intrigued in how appliances function. I want to investigate all the triggers that make a machine work, how all the components function in unison to allow it to complete tasks…apologies if I am being weird, but it all deeply fascinates me!
It is pretty sick. Truly spaceships are the hottest of all machines.
But also... yeah, I kinda get where you're coming from there too. There really is something interesting about opening someone u- uh, something up and just sorta investigating their insides.
Oh, I get ya hun. I'm aware that what I and Nas have with the Aurora is more of an acquired taste.
And you're completely right. Taking something apart, piece by piece, seeing how they would fit together and then putting them together again but in new and exciting ways? It's a delight! And nothing to be ashamed of, might I add.
Yeah, that’s exactly what I mean! I am very happy that someone else gets it. I love making stuff outta old stuff! I found this old CD player in the dumpster behind the SDN office once time and I made its components into a TRAIN!! Well, a…toy…train…but it was fun to make! It had a little light and made engine-y noises and everything!
Sorry, I am…rambling, probably. I really like building things.
…and that ‘nothing to be ashamed of’ bit…means a lot. I’ve…never heard someone say that before…
It's okay hun, people don't always take me seriously either, at least not at first. So I certainly get it.
I'm sure the trinkets you've made over the years must be truly wonderful, and anyone who would try to snuff that shine simply has nothing interesting going for themselves.
I would regale you with a few of my own creations but, truth be told, most people tend to get scared off when they learn about my own proclivities for reusing old parts. Probably because my profession and general interests lay far more with the.. organic side of things.
Thank you…that means a- ah, I’ve already said that. It is nice to meet someone else who understands, is what I mean. Oh, I’ve…said that already too. No harm in saying it again, I suppose.
I love creating my little trinkets—ooh, that’s a nice-sounding word! I like that—it feels like adding a little- whimsy, is that the word? Whimsy to the world where many parts lack it, if that makes sense. The world without a little art and creativity, regardless of how productive, seems so…dull.
Your creations sound so cool! But uh…if you think you shouldn’t show me, you of course know your own creations best. Still seems really cool, though.
Whimsy! That's a fantastic word, I think! And I'm sure your creations must be very impressive. With the way you described your train, I don't doubt you have some real talent to you.
As for my own beasties? Well, if it doesn't bother you, my interests being tied to the biological, then I don't see why I can't share a few with you.
Most of the work I've done involves my octokittens, with only a few side projects. They're my sweetest babies, and I love them all so. They're also the result of biological splicing together cephalopods and felines into one adorable mix!
Thank you! Again. I, uh- you think I have talent? Wow, thank you!
Woah, that’s so cool! I’ve never seen a octokitten…but I like normal kittens and cephalopods are really cool so I think they sound awesome! To be fair, I really only know a lot about prehistoric cephalopods…but modern day ones are still pretty cool!
I am not very knowledgeable when it comes to biological science and things, but it is really fascinating from what I do know! I’m sure your octokittens are lovely :)
Oh, I’d love to see them! They sound awesome…love normal kittens, I’m not sure I can comprehend the adorability of something mixed with a kitten. Regardless, sounds very cool, and I’d love to see them if you want to show them!
Eh, normal kittens chew on people a lot too in my experience. Saw some guy nearly get their hand bitten off by one, vicious little critters…I love them, but I did- not know they had that much bite strength.
Yeah, kitties tend to chew on things when they want to play... or when they're bored... or mad... or hungry... honestly, they just chew on things a lot. It's like their default setting.

WAKE UP NEW DINOSAUR DROPPED (I’m late to this but it’s fine…I’m very not freaking out…)
Haolong dongi is a 125-million-year-old iguanodontian ornithopod found in China, name meaning ‘spiky dragon’ because of its covering of hedgehog quills which we’ve never seen on a dinosaur before! I think they may be for defense, like real hedgehogs when they do that cool ball thing? I haven’t seen a hedgehog in a while, I like hedgehogs. Or maybe thermoregulation? I don’t know, I never got to get a paleontology degree so I’m not sure my theories mean much…Haolong is only known from a single specimen, the holotype AGM 16793, representing a nearly complete juvenile about eight feet long! It preserved remains of the integumentary system, which mainly consists of scales interspersed with hollow, keratinous spines preserved down to the nuclear level! These ‘quills’ greatly differ from the protofeathers and other coverings of similar dinosaurs and their extant relatives, and have been also been compared to porcupine quills!
