Rock band DROGO, friends of BMA who previously recorded our Breathe Fire song, have just come third overall in the Battle of the Bands Grand Final at the O2 in Bristol. DROGO came out firing on all cylinders, with their fast and heavy version of Breathe Fire, going on to blast their way through a short set, finishing as the competitionâs top rock act. Our congratulations go to DROGO, along with our thanks for supporting the Breathe Fire project. 'Bhopal, Toxic Trespass' Please sign this petition: https://wh.gov/isOdv Just some of the children, and young people, photographed by Giles Clarke in the neighbourhood communities near to the abandoned Union Carbide factory in Bhopal. They are second and third generation sufferers of the effects of Union Carbideâs toxic chemicals. Some of them have a parent, or grandparent, poisoned in the 1984 gas tragedy; whilst the parents of others have been exposed to the contaminated water now found in these areas thanks to the toxic waste abandoned in and around the factory. Some of the childrenâs parents were gassed in 1984 and, with a cruel twist, have been slowly poisoned by the water ever since. GilesClarke 'Bhopal: Toxic Trespass' wins major award and nominated for second. We're very pleased and proud to report that friend of Bhopal, and Getty Images Reportage photographer, Giles Clarke has been granted the Award of Excellence in the 73rd annual 'Pictures of the Year International' competition held by the Reynolds Journalism Institute. Bhopal Facing 30 is a stunning exhibition of photographs, by Francesca Moore, shot in two distinct stages and now being shown together for the first time at the Photofusion Gallery, in Brixton, London. 'It's A Hard World For Little Things'â: drawing of young girl from Oria Busti, Bhopal, India begins to take shape. The drawing will be one of a series forming an exhibition at the Victoria and AlbertMuseum of Childhood from January to July, 2016. The school in Oria is partly funded by supporters of the Bhopal Medical Appeal. The residents of Oria were amongst the worst affected by the 1984 Gas Disaster and were moved from their homes to a new location several kilometres away from the disaster site. They originate from Orissa and many of the children still use a dialect from that part of the country. At the school they are taught, amongst other things, the Hindi language that is prevalent in the Bhopal area, along with English.
