(Oldpainting) If you ever do a gif of Agnolo Bronzino's Allegory of Happiness (Venus, Cupid, Time and Folly) 1564, one interesting fact is that Monty Python used the Cupid's foot for their famous cartoon on their show. :)

Rephrasing that as larger bellies since I haven't seen Venus de Willendorf in a Renaissance painting yet. Michelangelo seemed to add breasts to male figures to depict women in his paintings (though strangely not his sculptures).

There is this sculpture of his. Which I just find so hilarious.

Re: that last ask - I think the renaissance beauty ideal included a large belly. The dresses worn back then certainly didn't go for wasp waists.

Ooh, this is a good answer.

Michelangelo went for more muscular women, though!

Oh, and something I forgot to mention in the 'Olympia' gif is that one reason people were so shocked by her is that she was too skinny to be acceptable as a classical nude.
