By the way, Lampwick has a special dialect of English. In some places it is archaic, for example he uses the pronoun "thou" for one person, and also uses archaic verb conjugations. Also, in the Present Simple and Past Simple he does not use the auxiliary verb "to do" to ask a question, he simply drags the semantic verb to the first place as in Dutch or German. Here is a version of this poem in his dialect:

When fall leaves my heart feels sad, And I can’t stand that this is fall’s end. When thou hast left thy last warm kiss, Thou shouldst know that I’ll really miss.

But I don’t know whether to bother with the way my character speaks, you can write about it in the comments
