You can literally see where Alexander Skarsgard literally was crying, I think they keep drying the guys eyes because Murderbot "doesn't cry", but you can still see it (second gift left side of the picture). And it's making me sad too, at least David D. was allowed to cry back as Gurathin.

In other news, if Murderbot is organic in parts like skin, muscle, mouth, or eyes, it SHOULD be able to cry because tears need to be there to keep the eyes hydrated. I mean, how does Martha Wells think real cells in the eyes work it's avoiding me. You either give Murderbot completely mechanical eyes, OR, if it's anything organic there, it literally NEEDS tear conduits.

Imagine being one of those SecUnits and it’s your job to escort damaged/defective constructs to their gruesome deaths. Imagine receiving those frightened pings and being unable to respond.

I tend to think SecUnits aren't (in general) neurodivergent, but they're so abused that they literally can't function normally when treated decently.

These units (not only MB) are ALL traumatized. Big time traumatized, I mean. So imagine that even MB had to see how they melted in acid the unit before, right in front of it. Seconds before it had to take its place. MB is scared shitless and you can tell. Knows what is going on. Just because it couldn't attack innocent people, hungry protestors. Feels it's doing the right thing, but in such a world, the "right thing" is always bad. MB is not a bad person. And neither are most of the other units. They're just terrorized of the torture, the pain that their governor modules put them through if they show anything but blind obedience.

The only difference is, so far in the TV show, MB has been mostly alone. In cases where two or more other SecUnits are collaborating for the same client or owner, you can tell they have some semblance of "inner communication" or "agreement" between them, regardless of the humans not giving a shit and not even noticing.

Even Graycris show having personality traits. And this is pretty much why they are wary of accepting MB hack code. Because at least what they have is safe. And they have each other. Behind the helmets there's a face. There's a someone (not a something).

Maybe between them they communicate silently and talk all the time. We'll never know. We can only hear Murderbot's inner dialogue.

I really enjoyed that when Gurathin quietly says “you need to check the perimeter” what he meant was “I respect your free will and your personhood and while this is not the choice I want you to make, I won’t try to stop you from making it”. he’s come so far from early episodes when he just snaps “perimeters fine” and refuses to let mb leave

Its half crying half of the episode. Let's just be honest. Its current emotional damage is over nine thousand.

Also, the two times it smiles are so vastly different and I love the change of expression. One is a sad teary eye smile saying goodbye. The other one is a true happiness smile realizing it's finally free for real. It's now a person in its own right.

I don't know how there's still people saying that casting could have been "better". I'm here looking at Alexander Skarsgard literally committing to transmit every strong emotional state in the book just with a slight almost unperceivable little expression and I just can't think of anyone else being able to do it in such a beautifully delivered way. Now people are arguing about the ship voice has to be "genderless", people, are you for real? It's a voice, since when voices have a gender? Are you complaining about a cast that hasn't even happened yet? This is the type of stuff that pushes me away from fandoms of stuff that was adapted from books to live action every time. The show is perfect. Stop complaining. The only flaw is that I wish there was MORE of the show. Longer episodes. That's it. There's nothing else to complain about.

*(by the way, Alexander Skarsgard literally was crying during that scene here. So I don't know if canonically Murderbot can cry, although it'll probably make some sense because if not I don't see how MB can keep the organic part of its eyes wet. But sure as hell the actual actor was crying. Some people still say they totally dislike the casting for some reason. I personally can't see how the casting could be better than what we got. Now they're b¡tching about the {still not even hired} cast for Season 2. And we all need to chill our rainbows. Trust the process.)*

The fact that it accepts that it's about to be burned alive in a horrific way but rather that than shooting civilians. The expression of sadness, fear, resignation, being exposed and all. And most horrific of it all, the humans doing this like if it was paperwork. It only makes me want to think about the other stories of the other Secunits that went through there before. And the other units doing their job and watching countless others like themselves getting melted, accepting they're not going to respond to MB because they know it's as good as dead by that point.
