The proper portrayal of headlights is such an important part of portraits, because they act as the eyes and soul of the subject at hand. It's important to remember to check your photo references closely - headlights are not black and white; blue predominantly present in the natural hue. But then consider, what might be near them that would add their color? Autumn leaves on the ground may reflect in the sunlight orange, yellows, and browns, for example. I always followup with my highlights in white acrylic overlay for shine and definition. "Hey Vern!" Custom piece. Now THIS is going to be a fun piece! This 1970 F100 has battlescars everywhere, father time carving his initials all over. I find patina'd and worn vehicles so much more interesting than perfect ones - they have their own personality. This truck is semi famous in the F100 Facebook groups, as the "Ernest Truck", as it is modeled after Ernest's truck in "Ernest Saves Christmas", where our main star sneaks Santa into the movie studio, while Santa's under a tarp in the back with baby rattles.
