Trailer analysis: No More

Soren’s words end the TDP S3 trailer with this pacing, and I”m so very proud of him and worried for him.

His voice is shaking like he’s about to cry. He’s probably seen dark magic turn his fellow Crownguard soldiers into heat-being soldiers without their permission. Maybe they’ve died in battle at Janai’s hands, or from the dragons’ fire. Soren never liked dark magic, and now his dad and sister are using it to do terrible things. It’s not just squishing dragonflies for fluffy pancakes anymore. His sister is killing people and getting them killed. His 16 year old sister.

So yeah, it sounds like Soren is turning against his dad and his sister, even though they don’t understand why, even though it could result in tragedy for all of them. Soren’s found his line, and he’s refusing to cross it. Something his father has never done. Ah, poor Soren, what has he seen to make him step out from his father’s shadow?

Interestingly, the Sun queen is also apparently included in the “evil” part of Soren’s statement. If this is Janai’s sister, that’ll be very interesting indeed. And it’ll make a delightful mess if Claudia and Soren attack her and take her nifty magic staff. One of those situations where there’s a victor, but no winners.
