Because the US government is a disaster at the moment, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is deleting really important information, including updates on bird flu. (News article claims it was posted "in error", but information like this would normally be shared immediately).

Some important things to note here: It's now apparent that cats can pass bird flu on to people and people can pass bird flu to cats. While this particular strain of bird flu has only rarely been fatal to people so far, it's very often fatal to cats.

Cats can catch bird flu from birds outside, but most commonly get it from raw milk and raw pet food. If you have cats, DO NOT give them raw milk or raw meat. You could kill them and make yourself sick. Viruses like bird flu are very hard to test for in the food supply. Also, keep your cat inside or leash-walk it so it doesn't catch sick birds.
