my experience w the pixel horror rpg discord chat
Hi, I’ve been a long time member of the pixel horror discord, and I’ve noticed there’s been a lot of accusation posts on this blog with no evidence. For some general information, I’ve been lurking in the discord since early 2017. I’ve been too nervous to write much in the discord because of the environment, though I do enjoy looking through dev’s progress for their games. It’s frustrating to see when someone comes up to speak about this discord’s issues, one of the inner-circle members submits a post arguing against it. Again, it’s hard to believe any of this unless you were in the discord or evidence have been provided. I want to bring light to these issues, and I hope the discord does take the time to understand the problems it has. As a forewarning, I completely understand that what occurs in this chat isn’t inherently wrong or bad, but the fact that this was handled in a public discord made the environment even more inappropriate.
Unsuitable environment for a public community:
First thing first, this is a public discord chat for pixel horror rpgmaker games. Of course there would be a ton of memories, and some people may be intimidated by this sheer count. However, the moment you enter the group you are already isolated because the mods of the group sets roles for ‘regulars.‘ Again, this is not inherently horrible to do in a public group chat, but it does feel intimidating already that there’s an inner circle in this group chat. Moreover, the regulars also shit talk other indie devs in the chat on occasion. Here is an example of the group attacking an indie dev in the general chat. One user finally steps in and ask them to stop, though this user was a regular. My friends and I who were online in the chat felt too uncomfortable to ask them to stop since we weren’t really close or well known in the groupchat. Evidence here: https://i.imgur.com/leBhifI.png
Due to the nature of this blog (rpgmconfessions) many users took their feelings to the gen chat… Which felt inappropriate to do so since many lurkers are only in the chat to learn about rpgmaker or improve their games. Interestingly, Pinkuboa was the user who leaked out the fact that evilhairbrush, the writer for pocket mirror, intentionally deleted critical posts about their game in the former rpgmaker confessions blog. This resulted in the blog shutting down, and rpgmconfession starting up so there would be an unbiased platform for users to submit their feelings. However, after discovering that users admited their displeasure of knowing Rindre, Pinkuboa retracted her support for this blog, and accused it of not running ‘properly.’ She went on to say that if they were going to faciliate drama, then it could be done better. This comment insinuated that drama was alright as long as it was done 'right.’ I was confused why this would be okay to do as drama is a stressful situation, and no one would want this to occur in the community everyday. (No offense to you, mods + this blog) This was a stark statement from Pink as I originally joined the discord because of her. I finally understood Pink’s statement when she commented that this blog should be used to call out horrible devs, even calling kirai, the artist of pocket mirror, an 'asshole.’ https://i.imgur.com/DvAf7o8.png I acknowledge the context to the fact that Kirai had called Pink a 'salty pussy’ during the PM drama. http://pinkuboa.tumblr.com/post/161009041591/kiramekirai-pinkuboa-astralshiftpro So I can completely understand the disdain pink shared for Kirai. However, sharing these sentiments in a community where people are already nervous enough to share their games in the discord was completely in the left field. By this time, I realized I no longer wanted to be in this discord chat because of how bitter some of the regulars were. I was uncomfortable, and felt as if I would be called out by them if I some how pissed them off. My only reason for this is because of Pinkuboa directly calling out pocketmirror and accusing them of stealing their sprites. However, it later turns out that the sprites weren’t stolen and the callout pink made was obsolete. http://pinkuboa.tumblr.com/post/161070951161/upated-pocket-mirror-situation The fact that pink shares this professional good-two-shoe personality on how happy it turns out PM wasn’t stealing is absolutely horrifying to compare to her actual personality and feelings towards PM. This doesn’t stop pink from breaking evil hairbrush’s trust by releasing their identity. This doesn’t excuse pink from jumping into conclusions and becoming a catalyst of destroying pocket mirror and the team. At this point, it feels as if Pink as a vendetta, and is willingly open to hear about any accusationary posts about pocket mirror and accepting this as fact. Interestingly, she as well as many of the regulars in the discord chat refused to accept any accusations against one of the discord mods, Rindre. As long as you rubbed your elbows with the regulars, they will always protect you and attack users who may have been wronged by them. This is not a suitable environment for the discord, which is why my friend and I left the chat.

Just last Wednesday, there was a trivial drama between users because one was hurt that people had blocked them. This resulted in them publically mentioning the block and attacking these users. Someone tried to step in and asked people to be gentled on OP / artoax because they have autism. However, other users begin to fight saying artoax’s behavior was innapropriate and admits to discussing behind artoax’s back on their behavior. The entire drama was bizarre and surreal at the same time as this was a public group chat for dozens of people to watch afar from. https://imgur.com/a/r7lWN ( I apologize for the change in format, my friend took screenshots of this drama) This drama had gotten to the point where even one user had left the chat for a time being because it was stressful and confusing.
Let me remind you that this is a pixel horror rpg discord group chat. But I do understand if people want to get off topic in the chat, which is why the off topic channel was created. But we would occasionally get bizzare messages like this in the chat, which was a little awkward. [MOD REDACTED] These images felt more appropriate to share with close friends than a public group chat. My friend who took the screenshots did not want to mention her feelings as again, she wasn’t a regular in this chat.

Clockworkprincedev’s elitism
Since clockwork is a regular in this chat, I decided to provide evidence of their snobby attitude. First and foremost, if you just check clockwork’s blog and go to his FAQ, you can already see their attitude in this answer: https://i.imgur.com/GDApPBE.png The general gyst is the user blaming players for not understanding the symbolism and story of his abstract game. I discourage people from sharing this sort of behavior (as pocket mirror devs shared this sentiment because not many people understood the plotline) as it expects player to go back and analyze their gameplay. Keep in mind, this is a game not a literary piece we have to go back to for an english class. This sentiment is a very lazy excuse to say “it’s your fault that you didn’t understand the game.” Admittly, I can understand if there are truly dense people who do not understand stories… but it appears that a frequent number of people did not understand clockwork’s lavendar rpgmaker game.

There are more occasions of these things happening, but I do not have the interest of going through 2 years of chat to show the public this behavior. It seems reasonable to just show the recent screenshots as it is a representative of the group’s recent behavior. As a discretion, I wrote this post in my perspective and feelings towards the group chat. There’s been a confession earlier saying how this group chat kindled so much friendships for OP, which is completely fair. Though I must argued that the user who wrote that post is a
which is probably why they enjoyed it so much compared to my friends and I. Take this information as what you will, and if the mods of this blog ask for more evidence, please page shot and submit these anonymously. I fear coming out publicly as the regulars in the chat are also popular figures in the community.
