Heidi Fosli

Heidi Fosli born in Sandefjord, Norway is a Norwegian multiaward-winning painter.  Fosli works with oil paintings and lithographies. She is a colorist and an abstract expressionist. Central to Foslis art is depersonalized human representations and torsos. She stated that she is trying to convey the wonder of our existence with her art expression, and also highlight an imbalance in our society in a global perspective. Paula MacArthur

Paula MacArthur  is a painter. Her work has matured into an increasingly painterly style, with bold use of colour and a commitment to naturalistic draughtsmanship. Working quickly and instinctively she places colour onto the canvas working with wet on wet glazes, merging oily translucent layers with the brush and dropping colour onto the canvas allowing it to bleed and grow into the surface.

Rachael Rebus

​Rachael Rebus  was born in Edinburgh, Scotland. She was in residency in Nov.2014.

Hers works focuses on the image of the female and its history. She have engaged with the nuances found in classical forms that are carried throughout history and into modernity. Hers paintings specifically respond to the representation of the female form in popular culture and its relationship to the past through the medium of painting. They are conceived within the context of mythological antiquity and classical renaissance painting and sculpture.  Through this method she consider the use and purpose of the female image throughout history, objectively dealing with historical and contemporary beliefs regarding the female form.

Suki Berwick

Suki Berwick was born and raised in South Korea, living in the UK .She was in residency in Nov.2014 and 2016.

Hers works focus on  the experience of being in the nature; fragments of trees, leaves, mountains, organc shapes, all  appear as the way she remember them.  

She compose these elements(marks, forms colour etc) slowly and intuively in the development of painting.   The influences and motifs relate to less from direct observatinons but to the remembered ones.

她的創作主要關注的題材在於自然景觀（花、草、樹木等），各種有機體的觀察，將這些元素加以組織、解構，放入我的繪畫作品之中。

Ana Karkar

Ana Karkar, was born in  San Francisco, United States, currently lives and works in Paris, France. She was in residency in Nov. 2014.

She paints landscapes, though verisimilitude is not one of its professed values. She often works from photographs, but her paintings work against the photograph’s tendency to systemize. A photograph is liable to be mined for the exactitude of its representation. A photograph is data rich and digital ready. What it lays bare cannot be called a lie. In the hands of territorial expansionists, it yields its capture to programatic analysis and management. It gives looking the power to exploit, deploy and monetize.

Hers paintings are less of an address and more of a response. She is not saying hello. When you look at her work, do you feel like you’re eavesdropping? Landscapes speak too. She’s in conversation. As space speaks, her brush moves in response to its roar. Spaces do not always roar. Sometimes they whisper. Sometimes they flatter, sometimes deceptively. Sometimes they knock you out, as if asking, can you get up? Will you look again?

她利用現實生活中所拍攝的照片，通過大腦的分析解構，繪製出風景畫。在她的風景畫作中，她不會主動去和觀者say hello，而是讓觀者仔細聆聽及尋找她所要述說的理念。

她所要表現的是一種意像風景，通過肉眼的觀察及大量的資料影像的蒐集，系統化，直截了當地繪製於畫布上，引領觀者去思考、察覺，當你看著她的作品時，或許你會感覺到她在竊竊思語，但她不會主動的訴說，因為她所期望的是觀者能夠主動的和她對話，而不是一味地要她主動告知觀者她的繪畫的理念及想法。

Anne Kristin Hagesæther

Anne Kristin Hagesæther,出生於Bergen, 挪威

目前工作及生活在奧斯陸。

我的創作主要以傳統繪畫為主，我開始我的繪畫工作是在英國布萊頓大學研究所的期間，創作靈感來源往往來自於大自然中的一景一物及一草一木，醉心於自然風景的觀察描寫，著重刻劃一種空靈孤獨的美感，暴風雨前的寧靜。在Austmarka駐村的兩週內，藉由不段地森林徒步行走，細細品味當下的感覺，觀察Finnskogen 森林裡的生態，記錄、思考，將所有想法躍然於紙上。

Anne Kristin Hagesæther,was born in Bergen,lives and works in Oslo,Norway.

She was in residency in Nov.2014.

She has been working as a painter since she was awarded an MA by the University of Brighton in 1995. She creates monumental abstracted landscapes from delicately accumulated brush marks. Her paintings of trees, mountains and snow dissolving into an empty distance evoke ambiguous feelings of solitude, awareness and the quiet before the storm. Landscape paintings have played a central role in Hagesaether's work since her first residency at Atelier Austmarka. She explains that the Finnskogen forest made her devote her time to painting nature.

Marta Pilloni

Marta Pilloni，出生於Padova（帕多瓦），義大利。於2015.10月在Austmarka 駐村兩週

我的創作中心主要在於探討自然，我總是對於一棵樹、一朵花及一片葉子的生長及各種自然現象感到入迷。我主要的意圖在於『生命』的探討，每一個事物在平凡無奇的靜態下，或許潛藏著華麗的狀態，這是我試著想去探討的。人類往往被美麗的大自然迷惑，但可惜的是，那些華麗的外表大部份是人類塑造出來的假象。 在我的創作裡，我想要探討的是最原始的自然，通過歷史文化的推進，尋求最初的自然。在古老的神話中，大自然的一景一物已經是佔有一定的份量，然而我們的祖先也制定了一個循序漸進、周而復始的系統。在我的創作裡，我想表達的即是這樣的一個規律的循環，不矯揉造作地，也不克意地，探討人、動物及植物在世間的動態表現，循序推移的瞬間。 當一個生物的誕生、成長、衰老，都有自己的一套見解及循環，即便肉眼難以捉摸發掘，我仍然試圖找尋這些靜態下的種種過程來呈現給觀者。

Marta Pilloni, was born in Padua,lives and works in Padua,Italy. She was in residency in Oct.2015.

The beautiful experience in the atelier Austmarka  to dedicate more time to the observation of  nature that surrounded us . Austmarka is a place surrounded by woods and places very suggestive so in this atelier I have the time to dedicate my artistic works actually focus on  landscapes. I was really suggested by the perfect reflection of woods in water, and the magic atmosphere that the landscape of Austmarka gives to a stranger like me.

I also created a series of works that were inspired by the house of the place. I'm impressed because all have a similar style ( unlike where I live ) and are perfect , in the middle of the garden. All the house seems to have no one inside… However my personal work in based on the the outside world and the wonders of natural world. Everything around us have a personal live, also things that seems static have an interior power… and I try present it whit my artistic works.

Tzu Ning Chiang.viola

Tzu Ning Chiang,was born in Taipei,Taiwan.Lives and works in Venice,Italy. 

About her stay in Atelier Austmarka total four period: Oct.2014/ Oct.2015/ April.2016/Aug.2016

She want to present four different seasons of Austmarka. Residency in Austmarka,for her exactly is a new beginning. She threw herself to an empty space to reset hers thinking.

She walked and observed every morning in the forest,near the river and school.She felt a kind of silence,seems it happen something,try to find,try to feel ,and try to hear.

When she arrived in Austmarka in Oct.2014. She met the other artists:Mona from Norway and Marita from Namibia. She really had a good time with them and  working well in Austmarka,and  heard cyanotype from Marita, and try several blueprints in Austmarka(Plant Portraits and little world) and  observed many mushrooms and plants in the forest to finish calligraphy project(Finnskogen from A to Z øæå) to present different lines in the different spaces. She also made several handmade paper from many nature materials  to try a sculpture(Bjørk).

為了觀察及記錄不同季節的Austmarka

2014年秋天，第一次的挪威行，長途的旅行，從奧斯陸一路顛簸抵達Austmarka，永遠不會忘記第一次抵達時的那個當下，映入眼簾的是滿滿的森林，認識了很棒的藝術家，結束兩週的駐村後返回威尼斯，幾乎是無法停止地想念那片森林，因此又催生了第二次、第三次駐村行。在Austmatrka駐村的時候，往往是丟開在威尼斯鑽研很久的版畫，盡情地製做我感興趣的東西，每日不斷地在森林裡行走，觀察植物的狀態，回到工作室後，進行文字及影像記錄，就地取材製作手工紙及顏料（夏天是藍莓的盛產季，試著製作出天然的顏料），在重返多次Austmarka的機會下，陸續完成了手工紙混合樺木樹皮的小雕塑、用藍曬法替植物製作肖像（Plant Portraits）等，試圖找回內心的平靜，Austmarka，無疑地，讓心靜下來，一步一步地找尋自己心中的意象。

Line in the space。欲探討的是：線條在空間中的流動與游離，2015年九月，在保加利亞短期交換，接觸到了西方書法，喜歡上流暢的線條，彷彿像是人游離在不同的城市間般，也說明了這幾年在歐洲的不斷移動，想要表達的是一種靜態與動態之間。 2014年十月駐村接觸到藍曬印刷，以藍曬印刷結合拼貼、素描製作出心中的世界 。

Nemanja Ladjic

Nemanja Ladjic, lives and works in Belgrade,Serbia.He was in residency in Austmarka in Spring 2015. 

出生於塞爾維亞貝爾格萊德的多媒體藝術家 Nemanja Ladjic ，在Austmarka 駐村兩週期間，製做了一個24 小時，360 度全景的錄像作品，我想要呈現的是一個與時間有關的移動性工作。我不斷地在Austmarka 行走，有時以腳踏車代步，在森林裡，結冰的湖泊區，不斷地找尋一個有趣的空間，最後我以工作室為背景，製作出一段以不同的時間軸交錯的錄像影片。嘗試不同的影像實驗，製做出非常人造仿真的影像，試圖找尋一個新的影像邏輯呈現給觀者。

I am a video artist and I came to Austmarka with a brief idea of making an 24h - 360 degrees video panorama/landscape. I wanted to play with movement of view related to time. It has turned out that I haven’t found right position to make such a thing, so I had a lot of walks and bicycle trips around, looking for some interesting scenes.  So, I have found several views with some time related elements. For example, view of the frozen lake, followed by the sound of huge pieces of ice cracking during the morning. Also there is a scene of me, spending time in the Atelier and repeating some actions always in the similar manner.

There are two topics I usually deal with, first is comparing analog and digital images, not in their technical way, but a new logic of the image based on digital principles. Second is more like playing with time, its logic, repetitions and so on. So I am making visual experiments and sometime they show that something very artificial can be very real, because it follows the rules of the images we are used to.

Silvia Lanfrit

Silvia Lanfrit，出生於Pordenone，生活及工作在 Pordenone,義大利.

其創作主題在於每日生活的描寫及觀察（觀察街上的人、風景、動物、物件及各種社會上的狀況等），通過眼睛的觀察，運用簡單的鉛筆及原子筆記錄下所看到的世界，試圖在觀察中及繪畫下取得平衡。

我的作品構想主要是兩年前閱讀了 Italo Calvino的看不見的城市之後，由如頓悟般的驅使我持續創作，書中的所有城市，皆是不存在的城市，每一個城市以女性的名字加以命名，對我而言，像是進如一個個幻想世界，試著利用紅陶土來塑造一個屬於自己的城市。

我的創作中心思想主要來自於生活經驗，通過每日的人物、動物及風景速寫，一步步地接近我想要的模樣，在Austmarka駐村兩週期間，透過每日的觀察，不斷地探索經驗，不依賴過去的想法，試圖創造一個新的空間。 藝術家的思維並非系統化及模組化的，而是認真的地傾聽內心的聲音，包容所有好的及不好建言，因為他會讓你更貼近自己的主題，終究能抵達你預期的樣子。在Austmarka駐村期間，雖然計畫尚未完成，但他開啟了我的另一個章節，指引著我繼續向前。

Silvia Lanfrit ,was born in Pordenone,lives and works in Pordenone,Italy.

Most of work is based either directly or indirectly upon direct observation from life. I think experience and observation are more important in my work. I spend as much time as I can producing singular paintings, often realistic, but almost always drawn from things I know well; families, landscapes, people, objects, animals, situations. There is often a more direct relationship between observation and painting:I try to find a visual equivalent to a subject in paint, rather than simply reproducing what I see. This often involves drawing and painting a series of forms, and then stripping them back to something essential.

(Don’t forget 5 or 6 huge dogs near forest. : p )

Sharon Haward , lives and works in  Hastings, East Sussex, UK .

A three week residency in Austmarka(Nov.~Dec.2015) provided the time to test out ideas around location and isolation, the chance to exlpore a little scandinavian culture and in the studio experiment with different materials and processes. The location provided dark icy lakes and frost bitten hillside forsests which became the focus of video and photographic research. The ample and mostly silent studio offered an opportunity to create a series of small sculptures based on local architecture.

我主要的理念在於創建一個涉及不同媒體、結構和建築空間的疊加、干預及組合。試著去表達不同的形式和意義，我喜歡在不同的環境下進行創作，因為每個空間或環境總是提供我很多機會去了解更多的可能，引領我不同的構想及創作。我的工作程序不外乎是：通過以往的經驗及歷史背景，以我最初的直覺經驗完成每一個概念計畫，創造出一個新的意義。

Haward creates interventions and assemblages that involve the superimposition of different media onto objects, structures and architectural spaces. She looks for ways of expressing a sense of shifting form and meaning, by overlaying one space with the memory or traces of its self or of another related site, changing the quality of the host space without obliterating it’s essential character. Works in different environments and spaces because they offer an oportunity to respond in a speculative way to the physicality of a site and to think around a series of problems and subjects that arise from just being and getting to know a particular space or place. The gathering of sensory and narrative strands takes place until there is an accumulated pile of stuff to experiment with and develop. The process of knitting together elements of being, of initial intuitive responses, researched narrative and historical information leads to a slow gathering of the site to self and a momentary sense of ownership, followed by a fleeting collaboration with the site to create a new layer of meaning.

Claudia Zanaga

Claudia Zanaga,出生於帕多瓦,目前生活及工作在帕多瓦,義大利.

我所探討的主題在於人在社會下的種種觀察，人類各種行為、每日的生活等。追溯到古代的傳統文化，探討人類一開始的原始行為，從獨立的個體（個人）到相互的群體（部落） ，創建一個部落的行為近乎是在一個將近休眠的群體，注入一鼓新的生氣，創建一個民族的含義。希冀探討在一個部落裡人的社群、生存的問題。在Austmarka駐村的期間，從森林裡各種生物形態的觀察，試圖從自然界尋找不同的姿態，利用枯枝的樺木及手製紙，製作成五個不同的形體，象徵著五個不同的部落，散落在森林的每一角落，獨立且互相支柱著。

Claudia Zanaga,was born in Padua,lives and works in Padua,Italy.

She was in residency in Oct.2015. 

My course of study combined with personal research get me interested in the human race as an individual in the society.The attention of behavior, in the life of every day, like in the various traditions, sparked my interest towards cultures that are closest to the "primitive". 

 When I  stayed  in  Atelier Austmarka around two weeks, I observed Austmarka completely enveloped by the landscape. Residency in Norway has given me the opportunity to focus on this issue, in the general reasoning on the archetype, to create forms that come from nature. In a country peacefully immersed in , I looked at the  trees and houses, comparing it to the more general relationship between man and nature. I have noticed that every house was surrounded by groups of trees. I imagined them alive and dancing, as if they were part of a tribe. 

The shapes was made with died branches of these same trees and with the hand paper. Recovering the vertical movement, the five sculptures differ in the way the paper follows the structure of wood. Creating forms almost animated, reflecting those natural as the blossoming of a flower, the growth of a blade of grass, the shape of a leaf. The forms are to be considered as a group, as a tribe, as the trees of Austmarka.

AnneMarie van Splunter

AnneMarie van Splunter,出生於荷蘭的 Vlaardingen,現居阿姆斯特丹,於2015年初在Austmarka駐村,由於駐村當時正值寒冬,因此以雪為創作主題,利用大約3500公斤的鹽製做Salt Project,並錄製一段24小時從早上至深夜 Salt Project的光影變化,在荷蘭阿姆斯特丹展出...

AnneMarie van Splunter,was born in Vlaardingen.Lives and works in  Amsterdam,Netherlands.She was in residency in 2015.

Her first project were about the timelapse video of  salt project in Amsterdam that she worked on while being in Austmarka. About second project, she did prints of photographs she took while chasing moose, would capture the atmosphere of the village and nature much more and would be more appropiate.

“我喜歡創造一個新的公共藝術作品，帶領著我們的感官知覺到一個更高的水準，可能可以引發更多寧靜且清晰的想法。我的公共藝術作品常常使用不同的媒材呈現，因為考量到觀者的行進、移動，也必須注意每一個空間的特性。 對我而言，一開始發想的概念是非常重要的，進而決定可用的材用在這些公共空間中，試著解決若當功能跟結構相互牴觸時。我製作一件作品的過程，總體來說利用數學模式進行製作模塊排列。我的作品基本上建立在一個邏輯性的架構之上，但在極簡主義的雕塑上顯示：what you see is what you get（你所看到的就是你得到的。）觸覺雕塑曲線讓人們更易記得及喚起思想。 我媒材的選用往往是水、糖、鹽、水泥、玻璃、鋼或竹子等唾手可得容易取得的媒材，熟悉媒材的使用，進而進行對話，將心裡的概念一步步地付諸實現。 希冀我的創作能夠與大眾互動，這對我而言是非常重要的，用一種輕鬆自在的方法來觀賞作品。”

“I like to create new public space that brings our sensory perception to a higher level and might evoke an idea of lightness and serenity.

 The work in the public domain has an autonome quality yet often can simultaneously be used in different ways. The movement of the passer-by, an invitation to play or dwell on that spot, plays an important part in the concept development.

To me it is important that concept, materials and execution of work are inextricably entwined.

I try to find one solution that tackles constructional as well as functional problems. Characteristic is an almost architectural approach, an ordering by a mathematical pattern or module.

 My work is formal and logical in construction, but where minimal sculpture is "what you see is what you get", the curves of the tactile sculptures clearly recall biomorphic forms that evoke thoughts of and associations with architecture or nature.

Meticulous use of materials like water, sugar, salt, concrete, glass, steel or bamboo appeals to the

spectators sensory perception and imagination, generating conversations, stories, poetry, thoughts of an universal quality.

I like the result to appeal to a broad audience. I think it is important that all kind of people can connect easily with the work, each in their own way.”

Maaike Anne Stevens

我的創作主要著重在物理實體的操作模式，試圖描寫模棱兩可的邏輯及生產力，通過這些架構來敘述西方世界內在物質的解構。我所感興趣的是建立在歷史上物理架構的權威性，通過裝置雕塑、影像、錄像及文字，我試圖呈現一系列作品在一個特定場域中，重新詮釋他們過往在歷史上的地位。

Maaike Anne Stevens, Lives and works in Amsterdam (NL) and London (UK)

She was in residency in 2015.

The structural elements which appear in my work, either as a physical entity or as a mode of operation, portray an equivocal logic and productivity. Through the deconstruction of protocols and established narratives that are inherent traits of the Western world, I aim to dissolve the temporal and spatial boundaries between a position of intimate vulnerability and a resolute public act. This place of shared intimacy is entered to explore the complex coexistence of personal drives and appropriated behavioural patterns.

Valentina Sciarra

Valentina Sciarra,出生於羅馬，目前生活與工作在索非亞，保加利亞

在我的創作之中，我所追求的是「尋找意義」的概念。通過裝置與攝影的技法，找尋意義，探尋物件跟本，發掘物件的靈魂，我的作品主要都是一個具體地點的裝置，結合周遭不同且唾手可得的媒材（鏡子、石頭、木頭等），製做出與當下環境相呼應的裝置作品、錄像或影像的呈現。

Valentina Sciarra, was born in Rome,Italy.Lives and works in Sofia,Bulgaria.

She was in residency in April,2016.

At the base of each work that she realized there is a “search for meaning”. A search for meaning in a place through installations and photographic images, a search for meaning with artefacts to discover their soul talking and get out of general anonymity, speaking of sense (in fact). Her works are generally site-specific installations, combing different kind of materials (like mirror, stone, wood ecc) and images, video, sound environment. Natural element too has a particular role in her research.

Luisa de Donato

Luisa de Donato, was born a  Dnepropetrovsk , lives and works in Naples,Italy.She was in residency in April,2016(three weeks).

About hers thinking was developed throughout her career and has become multifaceted and versatile, channeling the artist's activities in several directions at once. A systematic analysis of this evolution is not simple, but some of his main themes are expressed about human and  relationship with the outside, which is analyzed from a conceptual point of view but also purely spatial.

「當進入一個空間時，我放下原空間被大眾所加諸的所有陳見，靜靜地在空間中游走、移動，所有過去地記憶、經驗慢慢地浮現，想法也越來越清晰可見，概念也呼之欲出。」 我的創作理念主要在於一個物件介入一個空間，欲探討建築與社會文化的關係。我所處的空間往往是一個具體的、單純的環境，通過以往的種種經驗及多種形式的思想，專注於當下的感受，若是以制式的思維來分析並不是一件容易的事，因為往往是以一個單純的角度，最直接的感受來呈現我的作品。

Josje Hattink

Josje Hattink  is based in The Hague and has an individual artistic practice alongside being part of artist collective The Holls Collective. Her individual practice revolves around the natural materiality of curiosity, and is mainly manifested in installations and 3D objects. “Curiosity creates a confrontation between ourselves and that which raises a question. My work can be summarized in a concise question: when you dig a hole, does it automatically create a mountain? And vice versa? It is a question that repeatedly occurs in the installations and three-dimensional objects that I make. My work deals with curiosity about simple but concise matters; I question how the world around us functions and has been built; how the apparent regularities fluently shade into delicate coincidences and (im)possibilities. And how we relate to our own curiosity and imagination while observing this.” About Austmarka Sequence: "Austmarka Sequence is a video that resulted from my artist in residence at Atelier Austmarka, Norway in 2015. The studio is located in a tiny village with few residents and buildings, in the wide surroundings of Finnskogen Forest. In this desolate place one can find total peace and quietness. The surroundings provide plenty of time and space for concentration and focus. Focus on simple things that one normally neglects amidst the buzzing everyday life of society. But in an environment where so little happens and where it is so still, boredom strikes easily. Austmarka Sequence is about the wandering between concentration and boredom, and the game that provides an escape."

Josje Hattink,出生於荷蘭阿姆斯特丹附近，現居與工作在海牙。於2015年年初於Austmarka駐村兩週左右,。其作品以固體、有形及大自然中唾手可得的物件（沙、水、玻璃、塑膠袋等）進入一個空間中，觀查其物件在此空間的流動感。在Atelier Austmarka 駐村期間，試圖不去做任何思考，每天在廣大的森林中沒有目的的行走，學著迷路及四處流浪，學習面對未知的恐懼。在駐村期間，以水彩素描、攝影及錄像為創作的媒介，以〝人〞在一個未知的空間中所感受到的各種體驗。

我總是對於天然的材質充滿好奇，然後建構於3D裝置作品之中。我的作品主要探討：when you dig a hole, does it automatically create a mountain? And vice versa?（當你挖了一個洞，他將會自動變成一座山？反之亦然？） 反複探討在裝置及三維空間的問題，我提出的點：運用簡單的方法呈現，了解我們周遭的世界，如何導引進入一個微妙的可能及不可能狀態，如何連接我們的好奇心及想像力，這些都是我想去研究。 關於Austmarka駐村，我做了一個長達13分鐘左右的錄像作品，作品內容主要專注於人們日常生活中所忽略的微小片段。走在雪地上、走在森林裡、走在結冰的湖面上，觀察每一天、每一分及每一秒，即使如此平靜、與世無爭的環境下，仍潛藏著什麼、持續著什麼，Austmarka Sequence 我想表達的是，在專心與厭倦間，試圖表現一個逃避遊戲的出口。
