Media Workshop - Week Seven
Find where the halfway line is in the object, plaster doesn't have much give so its important that there is no 'undercuts' or the cast won't seperate cleanly
Create stands out of clay and rest the object on it
Water is about half the plaster mixture - fill with plaster till an island forms on top of the water. Leave for two minutes
Mix with your hands - removing all lumps and trying not to create any bubbles
Fill your mould up to the line
The plaster will first turn glassey, then will harden in 20ish minutes.
Chemical reaction, irreversible, gives off heat
Plaster reaches a pliable stage first
when it is still soft place registration balls of clay halfway in the plaster - helps to match the mould when it comes to casting.
Also attach a piece of clay from the object to the edge - will form a spout to pour into
Once fully hard, vaseline the object and the plaster top, then pour in more plaster to the top
