I love my job, but reblogging employment jelly for someone else I love.
Lighting Studies by Andrew Lester
I was struggling to find references of pokémon trainer outfit designs all in one place (or at least a whole slew of them side by side), and i ended up just going completely crazy in the past four days and now I've compiled a PDF of as many character designs I could humanly put in one place. there's errors here and there but i think this will serve my purposes, I hope this helps other people too!
Link to the PDF here! Includes trainer clothing designs from core games and spinoff games alike! Also includes my observations about each generation/the patterns I've seen across multiple games.
I'll do my best to put up new links when new games come out (probably about a month after each release so I can get the clean official art.)
hey this might seem random but do you know of any resources for figuring out how to draw short men? I have an male oc who’s 5 ft tall and I can’t find any pics of men that height who aren’t Danny devito?? help please thank u
X
Okay! These photos should give you a general picture of what you can use to help you. In the first reference, it shows different heights/proportions of a guy’s lifetime. Short people usually stop growing in height in their early teens but that doesn’t mean they stop growing, so when you’re drawing short people make sure not to make them look like children. Give them definition in their arms shoulders and legs, and depending on the body type you can use any height reference to add fat/muscle.
X
Other thing to keep in mind is the 8 heads rule. You’ve probably heard of this, but it’s the average height for drawing proportions of the human body. This really is an oversimplified base learning technique- as you understand proportions, you can move to 9 or 7 or 6 head heights. The photos above will show you how you can manipulate the rule to proportion someone taller or shorter.
Hope this helps!
When searching drawing references from movies and series
One of the things that I struggle the most when drawing is trying to find the right references to practice. When I want to draw a character from a movie or a serie, I want to draw them in different angles and actions, but finding those references are a pain in the ass.
Considering one can’t screenshot in film platforms such as Netflix and Disney+, not everyone has dvd’s to put on their computer, and finding some movies and series on internet is hard or the image is too low quality to use, artists settle for what they can find.
So here’s a solution for my fellow artist.
Screencaps.com is a website where you can find screen captures of movies and series. The captures are taken in sequences at every one/two seconds of the whole movie/serie.
You can find screen captures of live action movies and series (Example: The Mandalorian)
As well as animation movies and series (Example: Tangled)
I don’t know how many movies and series are used, but you’ll find the majority of Disney and Dreamworks’ movies and series among other titles.
No more scrolling down to find the right pic of a certain character or scene. Screencaps covers the whole film.
For live action movies, go to
Hundreds of thousands of high quality screencaps of movies, perfect for fanart, role playing, fan sites, and more. Don't see a movie you're
For animation movies, go to
Disney Screencaps.com: Bringing you the very best quality screencaps of all your favorite animated movies: Disney, Pixar, & so many more!
Hope this helps!

vitiligo notes for artists
I’ve noticed that vitiligo has been becoming more common in art, and I think that’s really cool! But as a person with vitiligo, and an artist, there are few mistakes I’ve noticed in people’s portrayal of the condition that I wanna address.
1. It’s not random. Vitiligo tends to appear more often in specific places, like around the mouth or eyes, the belly button, as well as on the hands and feet. It also tends to be at least a little bit symmetrical.
2. It doesn’t change your eye color. However in some cases it can cause patches of hair to turn white or blonde.
3. It changes over time. As a kid I had tons of vitiligo spots on my feet and legs, but they eventually faded. For a long time I didn’t have any until I developed a spot above my right eye about a year ago. So if you’re portraying a character at different points in their life, their vitiligo should change too.
4. All skin colors can have vitiligo. I’ve noticed on Picrew and other character maker games vitiligo will sometimes only be an option for characters with dark skin. Obviously it won’t be as obvious on light skin, but unless your character is a person with albinism it should still show up.
that’s all I’ve got for now, if I think of more I might make another post :)
