Hello! I’m Ary, and I would like to present my contribution to the Durgetash fandom with a series of one-shots called “Our Skin and Bones” about my Durge Zyanya and Gortash’s sordid affair pre-tadpole and its many consequences. I’ll be updating the list of fics here in chronological order story-wise as I post them. Thanks!

Just A Rat In A Cage. — Over a decade before the Nautiloid, Astarion stole a victim right from under the Dark Urge's nose (+sneak peek of when Durge first met Enver Gortash.) (One-shot - 3,5k)

Kneel. — When Enver Gortash finds himself in some trouble, he knows he can trust his favorite assassin to deal with it. (One-shot - 4,5k)

Promise Me. — Years before the Absolute plot, the Dark Urge flees Baldur’s Gate in secret to give birth to the Chosen of Bane’s child. (One-shot - 2,4k)

Hiraeth. — Four times Enver Gortash told his daughter about the Dark Urge, and one time he didn't. (Multi-chapter - 15,5k. Complete)

Ring Around the Rosie. — Bhaal demands that the Dark Urge atone for the sin of birthing Enver Gortash's child. (One-shot - 3,1k)

Not sure why it's a new trend among fic readers to assume if the fic has not been posted within the week it's inappropriate to comment on it, like the fic has to be hot out of the oven to give feedback for.

I got a comment on a fic that is less than a year old and it was mostly an apology for being a comment on an "old fic" and how late they were in commenting.

Just comment on the fic. Doesn't matter how old it is.

WIP Whenever

Thanks @ele-millennial-weirdo and @ghost-of-a-dream-girl for all the tags! I apologize for not having responded to any of these tag games in months, but I didn't have anything that was ready to share at the time.

Anyways, here's a sneak peek of a fic set almost a year after the defeat of my Durge, Zyanya, at the hands of Orin, and mere days before the Nautiloid crash at the start of BG3. Enjoy! 🖤

It’s a hot Eleasis afternoon, with the song of cicadas drowning out the sounds of the city. There’s laughter coming from the docks, where children run amok and jump from the piers into the waters of the Chionthar to swim and splash their friends. The taverns are full to the brink of people seeking relief from the heat, drowning themselves in pints of ale and cheap wine.  Enver wouldn’t mind a drink himself... or ten, of the strongest whiskey he can get his hands on, so he can get properly drunk and pass out for the remainder of the day. It’s a waste of time, but he’s of not much awake and sober today anyways, since the hear is clearly affecting him and addling his senses. What else would explain what he is seeing in that moment, right of him? Who he is seeing.  Zyanya. He sees her every night in dreams. In nightmares. She consumes his mind whenever his resole weakens and he allows his thought to slip, to have a moment when the pain can return in full force and stab him right in between the ribs. Sometimes he sees her when he’s awake, imagining her whispering bitchy little comments into his ear like she used to do whenever he’s tending to some business or another. It’s more difficult when it happens during the day, because he cannot reach towards her, lest the mirage collapse and fade, but at night he’s not real, only a specter within the realm of his unconsciousness, just as Zyanya is not real. They can be not-real together until the sun comes up and breaks the spell.  She looks real enough now. A woman of flesh and blood like any other walking on that same street in that precise moment, cheeks slightly flushed from the head and the roots of her pale blonde hair dampened with sweat. There’s a glow about her, something… something alive. Enver is definitely losing his fucking mind.  He’s about to call for his carriage and order to be taken home when he sees Zyanya’s ghost accidentally bump into a young tiefling on the street and issue a quick apology before she keeps walking. Enver stands there watching, feeling the air escape from his lungs. It can’t be. “Zyanya,” he calls her.  She turns around and locks eyes with him.

“Please, no,” Zyanya sobs when she comes back to her senses, sometimes days later. “Father, please stop. Anything else. I will give you anything else, anyone else, I beg you.”

But another moon comes, and her daughter is once again her prey.

After birthing the child of Bane's Chosen in secret, the Dark Urge has come to terms with not being able to raise her daughter... but her unholy blood stirs in her veins, and Bhaal demands that his most perfect child pay a great price for her sin.

Judging by people’s bios, most of those with Durgetash blogs (or BG3 in general) are in our 30s and I can’t express how much I love that none of us seem to care for that “you’re too old to be in fandom” bs that some people spew.
