Can Yaman in Sandokan
Sandokan (2025—) | Season 1, Episode 2 "The Pearl of Labuan" | Alanah Bloor as Lady Marianna Guillonk and Can Yaman as Sandokan
“Shall we dance?”
God bless whoever made this The Mummy (1999) reference in Sandokan (2025) with the one and only John Hannah, twenty-six years apart—it’s truly insane!
Challenge: hear someone mention the name Sandokan without hearing that goddamn theme song play in your head. Challenge level: impossible.
Sandokan is essentially like watching a romance between a character like Elizabeth Swan and another who would be a mix of Will Turner and Jack Sparrow (but at least Sandokan doesn't have Will's annoying and boring side)... Oh, and it's also like see another version of Eleanor & Vane from Black Sails.

I keep thinking about how Sandokan saw who Marianne was before she ever stepped foot on the ship. He had already offered to taker her on his ship and sail away. But Marianne at the time did not truly know what she wanted. Mirror this with her final decision at the end to choose Sandokan. Their story is so much more than hate to love, it's two people with the same souls. Sandokan told her he understood how she felt, to look at the future and see no way forward. They both had to discover their past and piece those parts of themselves together. And once Marianne discovered those parts of her missing, she was able to choose. Their stories in the show mirror one another, making their love one that sees the other fully. Then at the end, he gives her control of the ship, signaling her arch complete from wanting freedom, to securing her own freedom.
