lennonb:
“You’re still here,” Lennon said, surprised. “Sorry!” God, was that creepy? “I- I came in this morning to buy some things, and I saw you- working,” she explained, flustered, knowing she probably made it worse. “And I’m back. Forgot dessert,” she smiled.
Asa was surprised by her response for a split second and then transitioned to a chuckle and smirk. “That’s alright. I know I have memorable looks.” He teased. “So, which dessert you thinking of to get?”
kenzie-connors:
“Hey Asa, long time no see.” She grinned as she walked toward the counter.
“If it isn’t my favorite redhead.” He grinned, sitting up a bit in his chair when she walked over. “How’s things, Kenz?”
Asa was currently deep into a double shift at Wilton’s, having been put on the morning shift and then asked to stay until close. Something about his manager being ill? Who knows. He just kept repeating to himself that the money would be worth it, sat at the till by himself just scrolling through tiktok. He only lifted his head up when he saw your character walk in, shooting a smile at them. “Hiya.”

amyzimm:
“At least you’d die a happy man.” Amy snorts. She was used to remarks like Asa’s from her other friends so it didn’t bother her. “Same old, same old.” She lifts up the can of beer but stops midway, “Running Oceanview, creating youtube videos, hanging with friends, going to my brother’s music venues, being an upstanding citizen,” She shrugged, “I don’t get into much trouble like back in the days.”
“How thrilling.” He teased playfully, “I can’t really imagine what trouble you could be inferring about. Were you out here tee-peeing houses or something?” He asked before he too shrugged his shoulders. “Nah but it sounds all positive. I’ve heard from some of the old locals that Oceanview’s really turned around in the last year so you’re obviously doing something right.”
justin-vidal:
“It’s fine. Everyone asks that. I’m from North Carolina. A small town in Pitt County. It barely makes it onto most maps.” There were some musicians that came out of his hometown, but nobody was making it their tourist destination. “Chicago’s a pretty big difference. Did you come here on your own or did your parents drag you here?”
“Guess Barton Point wasn’t much of a dramatic change then.” Asa joked. He hadn’t known if Barton Point was vastly different to other small towns in America. He’d never had the opportunity to travel much growing up and since settling back into Barton Point for college - he wanted to be here for awhile. “My dad. My parents got divorced when I was finishing Sophomore year. He wanted a new change ... and to get as far away as he could from my mom.”
debbie-baker:
Debbie raised her brows at him at the Jason X comment and laughed. “No, I’m being nice to you right now, I can’t say anything,” she joked, getting up to follow him to the picnic he’d set up. It was weird. Talking to Asa - actually talking to him. He didn’t seem to be as awful as she thought he was, but she was still cautious; walking behind him, eyes narrow as she considered everything she knew about him already. He was popular, he was friends with Benny, and based on her experience with all of Benny’s other friends, he was probably rude, entitled and mean. Maybe he was being nice to her right now, but he wouldn’t be later on. Either way, she couldn’t say she didn’t appreciate his company right now, and how kind he was being to her. So she chuckled at his words and nodded. “People have forgotten how good potato salad can be. Right? I don’t think I’ve ever heard it be described as bomb, but it’s been a while since I’ve heard anyone say they made potato salad,” she mused. “I’m gonna have to try the chocolate chip cookies, though, even if they’re a little burnt, it’s impossible for them to taste bad. Bring them here,” she said, nodding towards all his stuff, not feeling like she could just reach out and grab them. “You didn’t always live here, right?” she asked, taking a bite of a chocolate chip cookie and then spitting it out to the side. “Okay,” she made a face, wiping the burnt cookie crumbs at the tip of her tongue with her hand. “It’s pretty bad.”
“If you know me, you know I have a very weird and strangely close relationship with mayonnaise and potatoes. I absolutely love em. So both together? My idea of heaven.” He joked, sitting back down on the blanket he had set up and making room for Debbie to sit. He was definitely with her in thinking it was so strange that they were speaking to one another - like actually talking. Not making snarky comments or pretending one another doesn’t exist. He had to admit, he kind of liked it. Even if he still hadn’t known what he had done to warrant such a reaction from her, he liked that right now they were on the same page. And actually finding things to laugh at together. He scrunched his face a little when she took a bite out of his cookies, just knowing it was awful. “I uh - nah. No I didn’t. Moved from Chicago when my parents got divorced. Did high school here, moved to Portsmouth for a bit and then came back down here for college.” He answered, laughing when she spat out bits of the cookie. “I did warn you.” He joked, “Yeah maybe baking isn’t my thing. I’ve been trying new stuff recently. You know, trying to figure out who I am and what I like and all that.” He shrugged before making up and giving her a plate of everything else he brought with him that was edible. “What about you? Barton Point native your whole life or-?” He asked.
dakotacarter:
“Oh is that what that was?” Dakota likes the farmers market but hasn’t been in a couple months due to her being at the cafe more. “I’m almost done with school and I’m now the assistant soccer coach at the high school.
Asa hummed, “It’s pretty good actually, if you’re into baked goods and buying from local places. Reasonably priced considering it’s all hand-made stuff.” With his ever-growing hobbies, he found himself there a lot to pick out new stuff. Upon hearing her answer, he smiled and clapped. “Congrats! School’s fuckin’ tough and then working alongside. I’ve still got one more year.”
kenzie-connors:
“Oh yeah I can totally see that. You would be hot as hell.” She chuckled. “Yeah you can do that or you can wear that to the store and pretend you forgot you were wearing it.” She joked.
“True. I wanna look like a walking, talking version of dark academia.” He joked. He then sighed and shook his head. “I gotta admit, that area of my life is tragic at the moment.”
justin-vidal:
“It feels pretty similar to my hometown except colder and with less people I know.” Having less people he knew around was definitely a perk. “Yeah, I haven’t quite gotten to the ‘figuring my shit out’ stage just yet, but hopefully soon.” Hopefully.
“Where you from originally?” Asa asked, before realising he’d asked quite a lot of questions the last couple minutes. “Sorry, didn’t want it to feel like I’ve got you playing 20 questions. Just curious.” He joked. “I moved from Chicago so it was a big fuckin’ change. Weather not so much but everything else.”
amyzimm:
She chuckles, “Okay, that’s true, that one’s on me.” The rare occasion of a sunny day was 3/10 chances so it was obviously a good time once it did it. She holds out the bottle for him to open before making the Jason Voorhees sound. “Oh if only I had a machete.” Amy hums, leaning back on her hand.
“To be fair, if Jason looked like you in the movies, I dunno if I would’ve ran away like the other camp counselors did.” He playfully flirted, it being in his nature. He took another sip of his drink, staring off into space for a few moments before breaking the silence. “Been awhile since I’ve seen you. What you been up to?”
kenzie-connors:
“Well it helps when you’re not the same mental age as them.” She joked back. “Oh I totally do. I have a feeling you’re going to have a bunch of students signing up for tutoring.”
“You don’t have the mental age of six?” He joked, laughing when he felt her shove him. He couldn’t hold his grin back at what she said, “That’s what I’m saying! I need a long-line coat and some glasses and I’ll be a dreamboat. Might have to do guest lecturers at Hearst so I can meet some actual girls my age.”
