EVENT #5: April 4th - (tentatively) April 20th
After seventy-two hours of navigating a tight asteroid field to answer the distress call of the USS Parthenope, a civilian freighter, the crew of the Calypso arrived to face the sobering truth: they were too late.
At first glance, the ship seemed to be entirely assimilated by Borg drones. The Captain was about to order to open fire when an emergency transmission from a sole survivor, Dr. Frances Byrne, came in. Dr. Byrne has barricaded herself in the lower decks and could feasibly be rescued, but it would require close contact with the assimilated ship.
A scan indicated that the Parthenope, recently assimilated or not, does not yet possess a tractor beam, eliminating the first advantage the Borg may have. Likewise, the Borg’s own ship had been abandoned on account of debris from the asteroid belt, along with the Parthenope’s fruitless attempt to fend them off.
All crew is required in their posts unless notified. Turbulence and contact with debris is inevitable, and safety is top priority for personnel.
All posts should be tagged as #event5 until further notice.
Update: A rescue party has been organized to be deployed upon the remains of the Parthenope immediately. Crew must remain in their posts or in medbay if they are injured; all those called to the rescue party are leaving immediately for a swift rescue of Dr. Byrne.
Primary rescue party members include: Captain Don Porter, Hazel Crosby, Mira Darzi, and Jesús Olivera (leading security and tactical); Samantha Hendricks, Eileen Ortega, and Fitz Wilcox (research, as per request); Mudah (security assistant to Lt. Cmdr Crosby); and Kitty Spiegel (medic)
Update: With Dr. Byrne in safety, the away team was ambushed by drones scouting the deck. While most of the crew remained unharmed, a few suffered injuries when heading to the transporter.
A tactical drone, designated Four of Seven, attacked the Captain en route and was incapacitated, but was accidentally brought aboard in the transport, unconscious but still very much alive. The drone is currently in the brig until the crew comes to a decision on what to do with it.
All members of the away team have now returned aboard. The Calypso must now leave the asteroid belt and sort through the situation with the Admiral.
Injured: Jesús Olivera (partially assimilated), Fitz Wilcox (minor injury)
