Hi there, uhh... little question and I'm not sure how else to put it but:

I think something like romantic objectification (romantic counterpart to sexual objectification) might be a thing with a lot of allo people, and many don't even notice. Am I just imagining things here or do you too notice that occasionally? (Online, irl, in media, otherwise)

If yes, what are some specific examples that come to your mind about it?

I definitely agree that it's a thing, yeah. Not too long ago I was talking with a friend about how it can be heartbreaking (for aromantics and otherwise, really) to become friends with someone only to realise they only became friends with you because they hoped it would lead to romance and nothing else will do. And a fair amount of stories out there have discussed the idea of projecting on someone the image of this ideal person to be romantically conquered instead of seeing them as a real person (often it's framed around just sexual desire but it's definitely not limited to that), and how harmful that can be all around. I'm saying that and can't even name many off the top of my head right now, but lately, my spouse and I have been watching the Go For It! Nakamura-kun anime (I should also really read the manga, admittedly I don't read enough manga compared to how much anime I watch) and it's a prime example of that. The titular character is blatantly romantically objectifying his crush for the largest part of the story, and gets karma for it where it fits. Somehow I don't think I'd ever seen that examined through a gay lens and it just makes it all that much more interesting. Makes it very compelling all around, like, you feel for the MC for being this misguided when he ultimately just wants nice things, you feel for the crush for being seen as a prize to be won when he's like the friendliest normal little guy out there... It's really good. And definitely a prime example of this imo.
