Lovely Indie Sewing pattern try#8 > Ginger Jeans
I tried this very popular sewing pattern Ginger Jeans from Closet Case. (Japanese post 日本語はこちら) It’s everyone’s must have item skinny jeans and you can chose high-waist or low rise.
First time jeans making seams to be scary, but no problem with this well made instruction with many useful tips and guide. I’m not afraid of fly front anymore thanks for the instruction! I already made 2 of them of high waisted type.
This is my 2nd version and I used mid weight stretch denim with light yellow stitch threads.
I modified pattern for fitting mainly on the back side. I have very flat butt (typical asian) and this makes ugly gathers under the hip with many excess fabric. For avoiding this, I reduce back space on the back yoke, and deepen the back curve like the pic.
If you apply this modification, it will be easier to try on inside-out and pinch the seam allowances. (Please make sure don’t reduce too much, otherwise you reduce ease for body move.)
My first trial is this black version with stretch cotton twill with waxed finish. I think It’s easier to sew than denim.
I wear a lot those and they are very versatile. I already have 2 more fabrics for this pattern!

Today, I purchased Fehr Trade's Duathlon shorts pattern and the Surf to Summit top for ladies. I'm too stoked to make the shortest length shorts out of the loudest and most obnoxious man-repellant spandex I can find.
Eight days until I receive my new sewing machine! I put together a pair of sleep pants for my sister for Christmas using my new serger and it was magical and perfect. That serger's going to be seeing a lot of use in the next year.
I received my serger in the mail on Wednesday! I haven't had a chance to use it yet, but I'm super excited about making stuff with it very soon.
In addition, my Mom's getting me a new sewing machine for Christmas. We went to pick it out a couple weeks ago. It's the Janome Skyline S5, and it's ridiculously magical. Can't wait to bring it home and start using it. :D
Tutorial for how to make tap pants. I have my heart set on making all of Libby’s lingerie/costumes from Carnivale, and this will help.
Free panty pattern from Madalynne! Super cute, can’t wait to give these a shot.
Bought the .pdf pattern yesterday. Prewashing fabric today and prepping the pattern. Hopefully I’ll get a chance to start sewing this Friday or during the weekend. :D
Love it, and in black it’ll be perfect to wear to work.
Free tank pattern! (Only available in one size - roughly a small)
Pattern: Anima Pants
Designer: Papercut Patterns
Fabric: cotton/rayon jersey
Notions: 2" elastic and gray cotton twill tape
These pants are seriously the best pants ever. I cut grass and did gardening stuff today for the privilege of wearing these for the first time. They are super comfy and soft and the sizing is perfect.
Okay, so I made a size medium. My hip measurement is 41" and these fit beautifully. The leg cuffs are little big, but not too big to be troublesome. Also, I overlocked pretty much every seam and did the understitching on the pockets and everything. Finally starting to get the hang of sewing with knits. Only broke two needles making these. XD
