His words hit her with the weight of a ton of bricks. He was… leaving? Avery understood completely that Thor still needed to heal emotionally and mentally, but she never expected him to say he was going to pick up and travel to another galaxy. She could understand the need for him to embark on some type of soul-searching journey, but she had expected him to at least remain on the same planet while doing so. But, should she really be surprised? He was, after all, from Asgard, another realm; maybe she was fooling herself thinking he would be satisfied living on earth, that he would never have the natural desire to return to space, from where he came.

But, how could he ask her not to miss him. It was like asking her not to breathe. Tears stung her eyes, and it was all she could do to hold them back. A part of her wanted to ask him to take her with him, but she was well aware that living in space was not something she would ever be able to adjust to. She looked up at him, still fighting back the tears. “Please, Thor… Please don’t do this…”

“Don’t worry, you do not have to fret I will be back with you in no time,” Thor said with a smile as he tried to comfort her, a hand came to rest on her cheek.

“It’s okay, it’s kinda funny when you’re jealous” Thor said as he laughed, and a hand came to pat her shoulder. “You’ve no need to be jelly, you know that right ?”

Maybe Thor was right; maybe she was overreacting at least a little. She hated herself when she acted this way. But, it was difficult for her not to feel somewhat insecure at times with Thor being so near perfect. Even if he didn’t notice the way women looked at him, it was almost impossible for Avery not to.

Still, seeing the way he looked at her, it made her feel a little ridiculous for thinking she had anything to worry about. She sighed, shaking her head slightly. “Maybe you’re right. I’m really sorry, Thor…” She flashed him an apologetic grin, placing a hand gently on his cheek. “Can you forgive me for acting like such a jerk?”

Thor held out his hand in order to take it but soon pretended he was holding it out for another reason.. Any.. think? He couldn’t and simply ran the hand through his hair. Good save, or so he thought to himself. Thor then waited until the plate was firmly on the table before he picked it up himself. These pastries were to die for, and it was her loss. “Thanks,” he said as he stuffed his face full of it. “Oh do not fret, no rudeness here. You’re amoung friends here!” He smiled as he patted the girl of steel on her back. “Did I tell you Shield gave me a mobile device thingy? You can have my number and send me message whenever you need my aid”

“Shield, huh?” Kara returned with a small smile. She didn’t know how she felt about the organization. Sure, she knew the DEO was apart of Shield, but given that she had to recently cut ties with them…the blonde didn’t know where she stood with the other covert organization. “I’d love your number.” She told Thor instead, before she fell silent, a thoughtful expression on her face. 

“Do you…ever feel out of place here, being Asgardian? Earth is so different from both Krypton and Asgard from what I remember.”

Thor smiled as he pulled the phone out, showing it to her. “So now you’ve got my number,” he said smiling as he wasn’t quite sure how the thing actually worked and just assumed it would pick up other devices like it.

“No, I think I’ve settled right in.. although.. these humans are weird as they’re super squishy. I mean, how do they break so easily, huh?”

“I know…” She nodded slightly, averting her gaze for just a moment, feeling slightly ashamed at becoming jealous so easily. Still, she sometimes wondered whether or not Thor realized just how gorgeous he was. “I know I’ve got no reason to be jealous, it’s just… do you see how those women are looking at you?”

Breaking out of her thoughts, Kara turned from the windows she had been gazing out of, toward the voice. Her brows knitted in confusion before her gaze fell to where he was motioning–toward the pastry she held in her hand. “Oh, uh, I guess not.” She laughed awkwardly, putting it on the plate she held in her opposite hand and putting it on the table near her.

It was strange, being here. With this…team. It wasn’t at all what she thought. “Sorry,” She apologized, “I was just…lost in my thoughts, I guess. I didn’t mean to be rude, your highness.” Because while humans may be unaware of his rank, Kara as a Kryptonian, was not. And her mother would be extremely appalled if she learned that Kara had been rude to the Asgardian prince. That wasn’t even to mention what her grandmother would do, Kara mused inwardly with a sad smirk. She missed them. She missed Krypton.

“We shall fly then,” Thor smiled as he held out his hand in the air, “wait a moment” he said as he waited for Mjölnir to travel. “So, how’s things?” He asked to bridge the silence as they waited.. But it wasn’t long before Mjölnir was in his hand.
