Lily’s Incomplete KnightOwl suit
As I said I would, I went even... further... beyond with basic shadow shapes.
Hey, it’s been a year!
On July first, Canada day, I’ll have a year’s worth of drawing experience under my belt. Boy it feels like just yesterday that I was reading drawing on the right side of the brain and doing blind contours. I was really excited when I reached 10 followers on my blog! I don’t really have much to say, to be honest. I didn’t have a great time interacting with other artists when I started out, but I’m sure it was because I was pretty argumentative. I’ve met lots of great people through learning to draw, and I’m having a lot of fun hanging out with them. /ic/ was the first art community that I was active on, but I don’t really check it anymore outside of the artbook thread. Taking some intro courses to drawing at Sheridan college wasn’t what I thought it’d be, and I still don’t know that much about the art world. I feel like I want to draw stuff and have fun for a while. I’m taking a design course at Talent Tree (A local CG related school) right now, but I feel like I don’t really mesh that well with the other students there, mostly because any 3D stuff bores the shit out of me and I hate using photoshop. I’ll be reformatting this blog in the next few days and stop posting here. I’d like to archive the mentality I had when I was starting to learn in all its cringy glory. Maybe someone else can see what I did and do it better. I’ll be posting on my main blog from now on, https://gs95.tumblr.com/ Special shoutouts: Bandit: for following me pretty much since the beginning Nate: who started about a month or so after I did, and has been grinding alongside me for the past few months My parents, for letting me NEET and draw all day Brax: for being my virtual doctor and teaching me about softwares for art Ahmed: for lending me 10 CAD and giving me a spring roll, I’ll definitely sub to a term of his patreon lessons after I clear up my schedule My girlfriend, Cindy: for being supportive and letting me raid her fridge …and probably many more I’m forgetting. I’m gonna eat some barbeque now.

I tried an excercise of breaking down shadow shapes. A friend who’s basically teaching me the ropes (Thanks pine) is the one who advised me to try it. All scenes are from Tarkovski’s “Stalker”. I mite redo it with even more simpler shapes.
Did it a few days ago. Forgot to upload it. Azn grils doing silly faces is my favourite thing
Although it doesn’t looks as good as I wanted I had fun while drawing *that* scene from Yojimbo. It’s one of my favourite films. I didn’t attempt to draw a 1:1 shot but to capture what the scene was trying to convey to me. I made a lot of mistakes but I cba to name them right now, I’m just happy and grateful for the time I had while drawing it. Also, this is the second time I use graphite
I don’t know how to draw hair. Left is Komi-san in a costanza pose from a poster I saw and right is just me barely holding it together
I slacked off today and hung out downtown so here’s some quick sketches and photos of the Ashley Wood boxset I bought. June 19, 2018
This is something that I’ve wanted to do for a while. By drawing the same stuff using two methods (traditional and digital) I can see where I am making the most mistakes with more ease. Digital is clearly better and way more accurate to the picture but traditional goes more according to my current level. Digital gives you way more tools for drawing things nicely, with zooming in/out and neatly erasing lines among my favourite things. The bad thing about it is that, yeah this is pretty cool and all but I’m interested in actually getting better and digital gives you things that eventually will evolve into crutches. So why am I drawing stuff with a tablet on the first place? As I said, it helps me see where I am fucking up the most. In this case, the worst offender are the size of the features, they are too big! I need to get rid of this bad habit of making everything too big. I’m certain there are many other things like values, perspective and the like, but I can’t focus on too many things right now. I should just try to grind and focus on things I have a sense of while my general art sense naturally develops. Regarding the good things. - My lines are kind of better That’s about it.
First 2 were character designs for a discord challenge, the theme was bug girls.
“In the distant future, many species have evolved to a human level of intelligence with corresponding physical features. One of the biggest modern bee civilization is The Hive, which is governed under a monarchy where a queen rules over all. To ensure the safety of this civilization, the queen employs an elite swarm of guards. Guards are armed with special swords called “stingers” and given a badge of authority. Clover is the youngest member of the guard, she aims to prove herself and find the whereabouts of her older sister, who went missing on a foraging mission.“
I’ve been out of touch for a couple of months and the only thing that made me want to come back was shitposting with my friends.

Introducing Ivy, last member of the squad! She’s kinda rude.
This is the end of the parumpasser series for now, but just to clarify a few things. These events are set in the Owl Corps.
The Owl Corps is majorly a girls organisation within Terravitio that specialise in night time reconnaissance and Wilderness research. They utilise high tech suits and equipment to protect themselves from the Wilderness Air and other strange threats encountered in The Wilderness.
I might talk more about what The Wilderness is later, but probably not before I finish my main comic prologue.
I’ve been having a hard time figuring out how I want this high tech stuff to look like, I’m not sure if I’ve nailed it yet, but it’s a start.
Next I’ll be working on designing this squad’s tech suits woooo

More stuff I’ve been doing. Not entirely satisfied with it
Some drawings I did on the past few days. I’m still getting the hang of digital drawing but I guess I’m doing ok. It’s really hard at the beggining but it’s starting to get a little bit easier. Regarding the drawings I made with the same picture reference. All the left ones are the first I made. I did the second ones by almost cheating. I superimposed the picture and basically drew on top of that. My objective was to see for myself and by my own hand, what I did wrong on the first ones, It was a very interesting exercise and I might keep doing, Perspective and feature positioning is still hard and I feel this is helping getting around those difficulties. The bottom ones I did out of leisure. Bottom left is yet another self portrait. Next I’ll try adding values properly
Recent sketches cause I haven’t updated in a while. March 16, 2018
